So, where to begin. First 2 days painters outside our open window on the 4th floor (FOURTH!) woke us up at 7am every morning. I have videos af a strangers face looking into our room from 2 feet away. we have a 12 year old daughter and, well.....
The window was open because otherwise the room would have been boiling.Italian hotels don't turn on the AC until later in the year. I complained, showed them the video and they moved us to a room 5 meters ( literally) from the Tram tracks. The room shook every time a tram passed, which was every 20 mins. Since we had to keep the windows closed because of the noise of the Trams the room was boiling. I asked for a fan at 2 am one morning. Also the sink in the bathroom of the second room leaked all over the floor. we didn't bother to report it though because we had already moved rooms.
No one at the hotel seemed to know anything - closest supermarket, where the fans were, whether the heating was turned on in our room or not. Florence is beautiful but VERY touristy and this hotel seemed to take its guests for granted. The only exception was breakfast with the staff being lovely.
