Wonderful location for an island trip
Superbe île, beaucoup d’activites sur place, fonds magnifiques à explorer. En revanche standing de l’hotel a revoir, de même que le service (tout est payant en extra). De plus, le manque de professionalisme de certaines personnes du personnel (au dive shop, mais aussi nous avons été réveillés environ une heure avant le check-out et à plusieurs reprises pendant l’heure suivante, avec du personnel frappant à notre porte) vient ternir l’experience, bien que d’autres nous aient offerts un très bon service (au restaurant le zéphyr par exemple)

Tarif restauration exorbitant,personel inexistant
Accueil expéditif à l'arrivée sans explications des facilités de l'hôtel. Cuisine dans la chambre mais boutique vide et très chère donc impossible de l'utiliser. Ménage très mal fait. 2 Restaurants aux tarifs exorbitants. Séjour payé pour 4 sur expédia et au moment de partir on nous a demandé de payer pour les 2 lits supplémentaires ! L'île est très belle mais plages de corail donc difficile de marcher ou s'allonger. Nous ne recommanderons pas cet hôtel malgré le charme et la beauté naturelle de l'île !

Good deals
The hotel was very good but it's important to know you can use other companies than the one proposed by the hotel for the activities (will be less expensive). We arranged our transfer with a tour going to Fitzroy island so it would include our snorkelling equipment and a kayak tour for example but took the ferry on different days than the tour dates (even though the hotel had told us on the phone before our arrival that it wouldn't be possible and we had to book the transfer with them as a separate ticket).

Nous sommes reste 3 nuit au gîteront Island resort et nous avons passer un excellent séjour! Nous avons loger dans un "studio" très confortable avec un lit immense. Certe pas de vu sur mer depuis la chambre mais pas plus grave que ça... Le personnel est très aimable et l'hôtel en général est vraiment bien! Un séjour de quelques jours est suffisant car on a vite fait le tour de l'île (4km carré) Seul bémol, la quasi obligation de porter une combinaison car présence de méduses venimeuses... Le snorkeling est top nous avons vu une tortue de mer et un requin de récif dans la même journée! Bref on a kiffer!

que du bonheur !
après 6 semaines à sillonner l'Australie, et avant l'avion de retour en Europe, nous avons passé quelques jours sur l'île pour nous reposer. Le choix a été excellent. Ile très belle, avec plages paradisiaques (snorkeling merveilleux avec des tortues et des poissons tropicaux). Notre logement (type ocean suite) était mieux qu'espéré : vaste, lumineux, beau, avec grand balcon, équipement haut de gamme (coin cuisine avec lave-vaisselle, grand salon). Bref, que du positif. Nous avons pu éviter de fréquenter le restaurant de l’hôtel (très cher) en nous faisant à manger nous-même. Mais heureusement que nous sommes arrivés de Cairns avec un grand sac plein de nouriture, car il ne faut pas compter sur la petite boutique pour acheter à manger. Dernière remarque : notre logement (type Ocean Suite) était très satisfaisant comme je l'ai écrit, mais heureusement que nous n'avions pas choisi la classe en dessous (Resort Studio Room), car ils sont sombres et petits.

Un petit coin de paradis
Nous avons passé un excellent moment sur l'ile. L'accueil fut excellent, de même que le service au restaurant principal de l'hôtel, qui sert des repas excellent. J'ai d'ailleurs rarement mangé un aussi bon saumon de ma vie! Les chambres sont grandes et accueillante, les plages sont très belles également. Le snorkeling est sympa, même si les coraux morts sont extrèmement nombreux. Mais au global, nous serions bien restés quelques jours de plus!

hôtel propre et personnel très sympathique mais pas au top au niveau de l'information concernant les activités quotidiennes. On a vite fait le tour des chemins de randos (assez courts) et si la plage est magnifique, la visibilité dans l'eau est quasi-nulle (en septembre) et on peut difficilement apprécier les fonds marins. Pas plus de 2 ou 3 jours...

Our main door did not lock. So at 9pm as I had just finished showering the kids a man pulled our door open and said we were too noisy. The stair ways up to our apartment had animal faeces and junk in it. The Smell and visable mould in the second bedroom was unbearable to stay in. The staff were nice and snorkelling was amazing. The pool was beautiful.

Adequate accommodations and facilities. Turtle tour was 45 min and just saw one turtle in one tank not the medical facilities at all. Boat tour for snorkeling wasn’t worth it- didn’t see anything different than you see from the beach (make sure you snorkel both the area in front of the resort and down by white rock).

Positive things: Beautiful island and spacious apartment with good facilities. Friendly staff in the reception and restaurant. Negative things: 1. Cleaning was really bad: old dirty towel from previous guests was still there, the bath room was dirty and so was the balcony. This is not what we had expected, especially as the hotel price was VERY high. 2. Our trip with the glass bottom boat was cancelled. No new trip was offered later the same day, when the boat was fixed. The tour staff did not care. For us, who can't swim, it means that we lost the opportunity to see the reef - our main reason to visit the island. This was a once in the lifetime travel (20.000 km) from Denmark, so we are very disappointed, especially about the feeling that the hotel did not care - it is like a big holiday factory.

There is only one resort on this island so it’s quiet nice however a lot of ships are coming with tourists during the day so some beaches are crowd. We did not like the service Maintenance we asked for 2 plates and knifes waited 3 hours no response Needed to call again Diving shop There are Hugh lines when are you coming around 3 pm no pools towels They send to reception deck. They have people for check in. Need to wait again. 2 persons are servicing one couple, asked for towel they pretended to be busy. Restaurant Working hours for breakfast 9-11 am. We and other couple arrived at 10 am, they said no more reservation despite on a lot of tables were vacant.

Beautiful Island wish we had known to take breakfast food as unit fully equipped kitchen although dishwasher out of order. Only option to eat was overpriced restaurant or Foxy's Bar which was ok. Small general which did not sell milk or bread so forced to eat at the two restaurant options.

Stayed in the two-bedroom apartment,.The apartment it self was amazing overlooking welcome bay, it was bright and clean the connecting studio was as expected quite dark with only one window overlooking the walkway at the back of the property. After reading the reviews we did bring our own food over however the quality of food at both restaurants was really good. The staff were all lovely and helpful and the island is amazing, got to see lots of turtles.

An upscale back-packers' resort, not a 4.5 star resort. Room smelled of sewerage and damp. There is one restaurant with a limited menu or a cafe style bar called Foxys which is basic, underwhelming with greasy food. No daily room clean. A beautiful island, however the resort over promised and under delivered.

My daughter participated in a work-study program through her school so was on the island for a total of 12 days. I met up with her at the end of her trip to go diving and enjoy the island a bit. The staff at the check in desk were friendly and incredibly helpful. They went above and beyond to try and help us out no matter what the time. I completed a total of 2 dives with a dive master named Violet. Her enthusiasm and love of the sport was obvious. The weather the second day was cooler and too cold for us to dive with the shortie wetsuits provided so we hiked the Summit Trail instead. Beautiful overlooks and a must if you are physically able! Our AC was not working which ended up not being a big deal as it was winter, and the technician who was sent to check it out was prompt and courteous. Overall a nice experience! Two to 3 days is a good timeframe in order to see what the island has to offer.

Fitzroy island is such a beautiful place definitely a not to miss location there is one complaint about the island unfortunately and that is the staff that run the island and also the workers . I’ve never met such a bunch of sad sack people with not an ounce of hospitality or character in any of them! I’m not to sure what the deal is with the staff but looks like they are all forced to be there against their own will. Some of the staff have no clue what is going on nor do they care. Other than the staff the island has a unique appeal about it that is highly recommended to visit just don’t expect to see the staff happy or smile in the process.
