The greatest waterfall the world has ever seen? That's what geologists tell us happened 20,000 years ago when a large glacial lake in Montana broke through it's 2000 foot tall (641 m) ice dam and flooded eastern Washington and Idaho with 600 cubic miles of water (2,500 cubic km). The flood water rushed over this 400ft tall (121 m) ridge at 65mph (104 kmh), generating a flow roughly 10 times larger than the flow of all the world's rivers combined! This happened roughly 40 times over a 2000-year period.

Today, Dry Falls is a state park with hiking trails, water sports and campgrounds. Stop by the visitor's center for more info.

« Was so wonderful staying here! Everything was as described. The location was absolutely superb and breathtaking. The vrbo itself was just what we needed, such a unique stay. Had everything we needed for a wonderful weekend with friends. Definitely would come back here to stay.
