Under a shed adjacent to the red brick depot in downtown Winder is Gainesville Midland No. 208, a Baldwin 2-10-0 built in 1930. This locomotive also served as Seaboard Air Line No. 530. Seaboard donated it to Winder and Barrow County in 1959.

« We enjoyed our stay in this home in Athens. It was clean and had plenty of space inside for sleeping - 3 bedrooms with double beds. The two bathrooms were a little small, but they worked for our short stay in Athens. We had lots of parking space for cars and tailgating. A nice size yard for the kids to run around and a pet to have space to walk around. A nice kitchen and a table for meals. « My family of 7 slept comfortably in this 3 bedroom lake house. It has a beautiful back yard view of the lake view and 2 story boat dock. Also the view of forest trees with white-tail deer herd of bucks, does, baby fawns, and large flying sand-hill cranes! « Mark and Regina were so kind and made our trip a great experience. They were helpful with recommendations and their place is super comfortable. It was easy to feel at home there and settle in even just for a few days. They are also easy to reach with questions/travel updates as we planned the trip and always responsive and kind.
