This is Michigan’s third state Capitol and it was dedicated on January 1, 1879. It was one of the first Capitol buildings constructed after the Civil War as well as one of the first to mirror the US Capitol building in style. The statue is of Governor Blair who was Michigan’s Civil War Governor.
