Welcome to The Hygge House!

'Hygge' is a Danish and Norwegian word that essentially means "taking time away from the daily rush to be together with people you care about - or even by yourself - to relax and enjoy life's quieter pleasures."

We have redesigned this home to encompass just that! We have curated a space for your friends and family to come together, take a deep breath, and soak up some quality time with each other.

Featuring 3 bedrooms on the main floor - all with King beds - a queen bed pullout in the living room, a basement rec room with a King-sized Bunk Bed and 5th bedroom with two twin beds - this spacious home can comfortably hold up to 13 people!

This beautiful home boasts a Scandinavian-inspired kitchen and dining room, a living room walkout to the new patio and sun room to the side, a downstairs game room with Air Hockey table, oversized Connect 4, and large back yard w/ Fire pit - there's plenty of room to play and lounge! Oh! And did we mention the private and enclosed Hot Tub? Plus, enjoy the two Smart TV's with access to multiple streaming services if you manage to get tired of everything else!

Quiet neighborhood

The Hygge House was a perfect accommodation for our family group of ten. It is located in a quiet neighborhood with easy access to main roads to all the activities we did during our stay. The grandkids greatly enjoyed the basement area for playing and sleeping. One of the reasons we chose to stay at The Hygge House was the outstanding photos emphasizing the outdoor beauty, but we were highly disappointed initially of the outward appearance and overgrown lawn. Neither hindered the fun we enjoyed there! We will definitely consider The Hygge House again in the future!

Beautiful Property...exceeded our expectaions!

We had a party of nine and we all had our space. There was plenty of areas to hang out together too!! There was a nice garden to walk around and the pool was wonderful! Dianne our hostess was great and always available. The Kitchen was well appointed and we all enjoyed cooking there and on the large outside grill. It would be a good idea to bring plug adapters if coming from the US. Overall we loved this place and we will be back!!!

Outstanding Villa - Perfect for Extended Family

Fantastic stay at Villa Lunt with our family of five, my brother, and our elderly parents! The Villa is large and immaculate, with tall-ceilings, and a light-filled, modern open layout with plenty of group gathering spots inside and out. Spacious, beautiful grounds are filled with birds, iguanas, flowering shrubs, and large trees. Diane gave us a thorough briefing of the house, and Merrill was our own private concierge setting us up with scuba diving and restaurant reservations, and important arrival information to speed our entry into Bonaire. The Villa is perfectly located to scuba and snorkel along the northwest coast, travel north to Washington Slagbaai National Park, or Southeast for the Mangrove Kayaking. We loved every minute of our stay and would love to return. The Villa grounds are inhabited by a large iguana that makes occasional appearances (and remains) which were highly memorable.

Wonderful Stay

Merrill was simply awesome to deal with from the very 1st contact about this booking clear through to check out. It is obvious that she cares greatly about her guests. We found the home to be very clean. The pool area offers much privacy and even though it is surrounded by other homes we could never see anyone from the pool area. If I were to ever return to Bonaire I would not hesitate to rent this villa again.

Perfect Accommodations!

Villa Lunt was wonderful. The property was very spacious, even for our group of nine. The house had everything we needed, and everything was in working order. The location was ideal- we enjoyed the quiet and private neighborhood, and it was just a short drive into town. The property owner was extremely helpful in making suggestions and answering all of our questions for weeks up to our stay and during our stay. I can't say enough positive things about this property! Thank you so much Merrill for a wonderful vacation.

Absolutely beautiful villa. Location is perfect. Private and secluded. Large, refreshing swimming pool. Guest house is a 2nd "home within a home" making Villa Lunt ideal for two couples or two families. Property owners Steve and Merrill Lunt are incredibly responsive and accommodating. Five star experience. We will be back !

Blown away, could not have been more perfect!!!

I'm not even sure where to begin. This trip was made with a group of 8 total, for my 50th birthday. To start with, Merrill was nothing short of AMAZING, helping us to secure a van, giving us ideas of things to do, places to go, and leading up to the trip she left nothing out. Quick to respond to emails, extremely helpful and attentive. Lily worked with my husband and cousin to make some special birthday touches for when we arrived. The home itself? Absolutely gorgeous. Spacious, lots of room for everyone, nicely laid out. The landscape is heavenly. It's comfortable, airy, and the pool is perfect after a long day of activities. The location? Not far from many snorkel/dive sites, in a gorgeous section of the island. Safety was never a concern. Also, it was close enough to downtown but not too close. I just cannot recommend Villa Lunt enough. If you have a small group or a large group, your vacation will truly be something special and unforgettable at this property. It was all we'd hoped for and much, much more. I would definitely stay here again in the future! Thanks so much to the Lunt family - we truly appreciate you and your hospitality!

Our trip was amazing and the villa was nothing short of the best, it was easy to communicate with the property manager and the place was in order for our arrival. The best part was the pool and space outside for everyone. Well worth the money.

Beautifuly Property in Quiet Neighborhood! May 2019

Villa Lunt is absolutely wonderful! We were a family with three children (16,14,9) and two grandmothers. The property is spacious and well-appointed. It had PLENTY of outdoor spaces for everyone, and to allow you to move throughout the day to catch the shade and the trade winds. (My favorite spot was the Adirondack chairs at the corner on the main porch!) As is typical for Bonaire, there was A/C in the bedrooms for restful sleep, but no air in the common room. While it was a little warm, if you open the windows you can get a nice breeze through. The rinse tanks available were wonderful for the divers, and this non-diving Mama appreciated the full size laundry machine. Everyone enjoyed relaxing in and beside the pool. If you like local wildlife, we saw many birds, lizards, and iguanas. There were even three parrots that we saw many times. The kitchen was large and had pretty much anything you could ask for. (I brought my own silicone muffin cups because I never expect a muffin tin.) Lots of plates, cups, etc. We ate at the villa every day but one and never had a problem. WiFi was excellent throughout the grounds. There were plenty of beds and towels for everyone. One grandmother and two kids stayed down in the guesthouse and loved having the separate space. The communication from Merrill was above and beyond. I LOVED how much information was provided and how clear everything was. The property manager, Lily, was so easy to work with. The location of the villa is a bit north of town, and you can just barely see the ocean from a couple of spots, but we didn't really miss the view that much. The neighborhood was quiet and away from the bustle of town, which we all loved. Still, the dive shop and town was less than 10 minutes away in a car. (A vehicle is a must, though!) I would gladly stay here again. I hope we get the opportunity in the future. This property comes with my highest recommendation.

Another Happy Holiday

Thank you so much for sharing your lovely villa with us for the past 2 weeks Merrill. We had a great time here and really appreciated all your help with our last minute booking. Your villa is fab and has everything you need. The gardens are very pretty and they do give a lot of privacy. We enjoyed being able to sit outside and have dinner or drinks without feeling you're being overlooked with the exception of the very friendly Mockingbirds that is LOL. Lily was very helpful when we needed her and easy to deal with too, so please pass on our thanks to her for all she did. Being collected from the airport is a big bonus as it avoids you having to try and find the villa on your own for the first time. It's not difficult to get to and from the villa once you know where it is but when you've been travelling for 15+ hours and you're tired and hot wrestling with directions is probably not what you need. It's a 10 min drive to the centre of town and the main supermarkets and there are lots of beautiful northern dive sites almost on your doorstep. The villa sleeps a lot more than just the 2 of us who were there so we did have a lot of room that we didn't need but it still felt homely and is ideal for larger groups who don't want to be living on top of each other. Thank you once again Merrill for all your help, you are a lovely person to deal with and make everything so easy. It was nice to get the 'checking in' e-mail too making sure things were going well etc. very much appreciated. Kym & Bob.

Great Property!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Everything was spacious and clean as advertised. The location was convenient and with an terrific area to rinse and dry gear as well as spacious place to relax by the pool for the afternoon. Just what we were looking for. Also, the communication before, during and after our stay was fantastic. It was the first time we have come to Bonaire and not stayed on the water. We were not disappointed. Could not have been better!

From our first correspondence with the owner to our last day at the villa, we could not have been better supported...a truly valued benefit as one explores a new island! And then there's the property. Beautiful. Private. And fast reliable wifi if you need to work! Easy drive to anywhere on Bonaire, and then 'home' to sounds of birds, a dip in the pool, barbecue & beverages... More than expected in every way!

Wonderful Christmas and New Year retreat

A wonderful property for a special Christmas and New Year holiday. It has great space and comfort and lots of shaded areas if needed. We cooked a lot at the property in their wonderful new kitchen, as well as using the BBQ - the kitchen is the best I have experienced for equipment and appliances etc. it was a delight to cook in. We were a group of 6 and there was more than enough space for us, and also some quiet areas if anyone wanted space. At the time we visited there was quite a lot of rain and this caused a few problems with the electrics, I normally wouldn't mention this as it was not the fault of the property - but Merrill and Steve, the owners sorted it immediately and their customer service along with the Manager of the property, Lilly, was exemplary. I would highly recommend this property. It is just back from the sea front, but has lovely sea breezes, although we spent a lot of time in the pool - perfect size and lovely to swim and hang out in. A nice distance from town and in a nice area. The villa is tastefully decorated and also has a high level of security and accurate to the description given. If visiting Bonaire a visit to 'At Sea' is a must, we had our Christmas Eve meal here and it was one of the best meals I have had, definitely up to a two Michelin star standard, I booked the table 6 months before our holiday on the internet. Towards the end of our trip, I found a lovely little wine shop AWC, only open 9 - 11, but if you like a nice bottle of wine, worth a visit.

Villa Lunt - Bonaire November 2016

The pictures do not give this home justice. This is a great home with wonderful amenities. We had a party of 7 (3 families) with tons of room and nice seating areas especially outside. The management company met us at the airport to make certain we arrived safely to the home and understood how everything worked. The owner was in constant communication to be sure there were no issues. The TV, cell phone and internet access worked with no issues. Many locations offer TV and internet but it does not work well - no issues at all for us with any appliances. Since we were there to dive the rinse tanks were perfect with a nice area to hang your gear behind the home. The home is gated with multiples safes for valuables to be locked away so you feel very secure. Not too far from dive shops and very close to dive sites - Andrea 1, Andrea 2 and Oil Slick is close too. A smaller grocery store is close by for convenience but selection was not as large and prices were higher than in town - but great if you needed something quickly. We are fairly picky about where we stay - (i.e. at Disney we only stay at Deluxe Resorts- if on vacation I want it nice) and this place and owner met all expectations and went above and beyond. We have not been home 24 hours and we are looking at dates to re-book this same home in 2017. Thank you for offering such a wonderful home for such a great price and going above and beyond our expectations.

First class villa

Villa Lunt is a villa of the highest quality. We have stayed at several villas over the years via HomeAway and this has to be one of the best if not the best we have enjoyed. The grounds to the villa are very spacious with several outdoor seating areas either in sun or shade. We also had use of the guest house which for a family with two teenage children and a mother in law gave us all that little bit of extra space. The villa location was perfect being less than 5 minutes drive to the nearest dive/snorkel sites and 10-15mins drive into Kralendeijk. Merril, the owner was a pleasure to deal with and her on site property manager Lilly was very responsive and helpful dealing with any queries and suggestions on what to do on the island. Our favourite snorkel sites were Windsock(variety of coral and fish), Captain Dons Habitat(freindly Tarpon) and Oil Slick(kids jumping off the rocks into the water and sunset picnic). Learning to windsurf at Lac Bai was also good as was the kayak and snorkel tour available from the Mangrove Centre. As for restaurants Rum Runners makes for a wonderful sunset meal (BBQ on Monday night) and Cuba Comagnie (atmosphere and fantastic food) and Karles Beach Bar were all fantastic. Overall a very special and relaxing vacation. We hope to return. Overall a fantastic rleaxing vacation in a very special place.

Perfect fit for our Bonaire family vacation

Villa Lunt is a wonderful property that perfectly fit our extend family vacation in Bonaire. The main home is spacious and wonderfully decorated, with a separate guest house that was very nice for my parents. It has a well equipped kitchen for daily breakfast and lunches, and the patio was perfect to have evening dinners outside after cooking on the grill, and the pool was inviting every day. We had divers and snorkelers both, and the set up for equipment wash / hanging was just right. Merrill was a great host providing pre-trip information, recommendations and the property managers on site were most helpful in arrival and settling in. Would come back for sure and recommend.

Beautiful property! Great place for divers.

The owner Merrill is a true pleasure to deal with; she will set everything up for you including diving packages and truck rental and is very accommodating. The property looks even better in person than it does in the pictures. Big kitchen with everything you need to prepare meals including knives, pots and pans. There are two outdoor showers and two rinse tanks for divers. I guarantee if you stay at villa Lunt you will be overly impressed. We will absolutely be staying at Villa Lunt again!

Villa Lunt is a hidden gem of Bonaire!!!!

Villa Lunt is absolute dream vacation destination.We booked this house with my friend (all together 7 people) after seeing the house on home away site .Merrill was very quick with the email responses and gave us a ton of useful information about the house and the island .She even emailed us a discount vouchers for car rental and Dive Friends tank rental .When we got to the airport we were greeted by Farah the property manager ,she helped us with picking up the car and drove with us to the house where she explain all the details about our rental property which looked even better live than on the pictures .There was plenty of room for us with 4 bedrooms in the main house and 2 full bathrooms .House was very clean and supplied with everything needed for perfect vacation ,all kitchen supplies ,towels Beach chairs and even first day groceries needs like juices ,bread and fruits . Garden grounds around the house were beautifully maintained .There was also a lot of place to spend time outside -huge porch with sofas and dining table ,gazebo with 2nd dining table and anothe sofa lounge chairs on the deck and of course great pool .Wright by the pool there is a guest house with 2 bedrooms that can sleep additional 4 people with kitchen and full bath . On the side of the main house there are 2 rinse tanks and drying rack for dive gear-what a great idea !!! I could go on writing about many more perks of Villa Lunt but it's better you experience the magic yourself .Hands down I recommend this place for any type vacation :romantic gateway ,family holiday or group of friends on diving vacation seeking good times. Villa Lunt is the perfect vacation home

Not only is villa Lunt a relaxing place to return after a day of exploring, but it also is fun to stay and spend the day at the pool. Everything in and around Villla Lunt is meticulously maintained. We did some night swimming in the pool, because the grounds are very pretty under the lights at night and it's plenty warm in Bonaire. The inside of the Villa is spacious. We couldn't have been more comfortable, even a bit spoiled!
