The Carmel Beach Hotel is the very nicely refurbished/updated Colonial Terrace Hotel. We have stayed in the old property and now the new one. We really enjoyed our stay, the place has been very nicely updated. Outstanding location 1 block from the beautiful Carmel beach. We chose a room on San Antonio and had a small terrace with a clear ocean view. Excellent! Staff was very helpful and friendly, breakfast was very nice (real breakfast, not a cold boiled egg and a bagel). We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely return.

Amazing location close to the Ocean for morning walks! Tasty breakfast with you stay! Super modern clean room great parking! Temperature in the room was a little hard to set. We had a window that couldn’t close so a draft in the bathroom. Also, the front door had a bit of a gap underneath also had a draft! Definitely would stay again!

Great property that is walking distance to the beach. Rooms were clean and bed was very comfortable. We will definitely stay here again when back in Carmel.

This hotel is in the perfect location. One block from the beach. We really appreciated how nice and helpful the staff was -everyone we came in contact with. The breakfast being delivered to the room was awesome because it was really cold on the mornings that we had stayed there- while the outdoor restaurant offers heat and blankets, it was still a little too cold to eat outside. The room was nice, clean and offered a coffee bar with electric tea kettle. Refrigerator with water - Cookies upon our arrival, robes and slippers . All nice touches. The king-sized bed was very comfortable. We had one complaint-our room was directly behind the kitchen in room 14 so there was unavoidable noise and we were awakened at 6:10am both mornings. Banging, drawers shutting, microwaving, chopping etc. It was impossible to sleep once they got started in the mornings and went on into evening til about 9pm It was no one’s fault (except the architect/designer who put a room next to kitchen with very little soundproofing. (Ok-no sound proofing)). I didn’t complain since we were only there two mornings but you need to be aware if you want to sleep in past 6:15am. I did mention at checkout hoping they could consider some sound proofing for future guests but I wouldn’t stay again in that room.

The new owners of the property have done an excellent job with the renovation. It was our first time here since the remodel of the rooms and exterior, and we are impressed. Our room was spacious and well appointed. We really enjoyed breakfast served to our room, and the staff was courteous and friendly. Many of the brick patios have been redone with ADA improvements.

The property met all of our expectations. It was quiet beautiful the view was fantastic from the upper room. It was clean and neat, and the staff was absolutely incredible. The food was great. It was clean. The bed was comfortable. You couldn’t ask for more. The location was idealistic. I’d absolutely absolutely recommend this place.

Newly redone property in a beautiful and quiet location. The service was fabulous. Every staff member we encountered was helpful and friendly. The room was comfortable, clean and inviting with thoughtful amenities. We chose an ocean view and while it wasn’t right on the shoreline we could see and hear the water. Very nice to sit and enjoy the late afternoon on the little balcony. The property had a lovely outdoor eating area with a fireplace and some great food options. Would definitely stay here again for a special occasion.

The room was very small and the view was not good. It was not worth more than 500 US dollars a night. You could hear every time the door of the next room closed.

This hotel is very beautiful and the staff were great. The location is right next to the ocean front in a beautiful and quiet area. My main issue was with the room we were staying in. In room 14, it seems like the kitchen is on the other side of the wall. I could hear a lot of noise starting at 6am. All the noise woke me up. The noise lasted until 9-10pm the previous night as well. Hope this issue can be resolved by reconstructing the walls in the room. Without this issue, the stay would be perfect. This place has a lot of potential.

Amazing location, quiet residential neighborhood, short walk to the beach, walkable distance to Carmel center. It appear the hotel has been recently completely remodeled, everything is brand new, extremely clean in and out, great outdoor terrace. Felt like 5 star hotel! Few minor cons: some rooms (including ours) not very private due to overall hotel set up, slow shower, would be great to have more than one hook in the bathroom, not the best breakfast! But overall great stay, would recommend and would definitely stay again!

My wife & I stayed here for one night in mid December. Overall our stay was very enjoyable, with a couple of minor exceptions. The hotel is in a very good location close to Carmel beach and the property is in good shape and is made up of a variety of small buildings in nicely landscaped surroundings. The staff was very helpful and the room (#8) was clean and nicely decorated. The room was not however very private. It was close to several pathways and adjacent to the the ice machine which was about 5 feet away from one of the windows, making it awkward to open the window covering. The room was also advertised as having a stocked minibar, when in fact the minibar contained 2 bottles of still water & 2 bottles of sparking water. The hotel offers a car service to get into town in the form of a nice Mercedes S class. We took a ride into town, enjoyed a meal at our goto Italian restaurant and upon finishing the meal called the hotel for the car to pick us up. It was about 9:35 PM and I was told the driver had gone home! I found this a little odd. Fortunately we were dining with some friends staying at the La Playa and got a ride back in their car.

Great property near the ocean and Scenic Drive.
We absolutely loved this property. The location is amazing just one street over from Scenic Road where you can take long walks and look out over the beach and ocean. We could even hear the ocean waves from our balcony. The property was recently renovated and really nice. Our room was clean and the bed was super comfortable. I would definitely stay here again.

Pros: Very beautiful location with idyllic views across Carmel Beach amid cypress trees. Easy check in , welcomed by the bar tender with a warm apple cider. Two minute walk to the beach. Easy parking, out front close to room. Modern, clean room with comfortable bed. Car service provided to run you in to town for dinner. Nice touch! Cons; Lack of privacy when room curtains were open (room facing courtyard) Somewhat bumbling breakfast service. Lost our order slip, then missed things off our order. Took way longer than expected. Breakfast offering was simple, nothing special (but it was included). En-suite , although nice, really could use under floor heating as the tile is cold. Overall : a great place to stay. We would come back.

Charming and completely remodeled, seemingly all new. Hot water in shower was slow and the nespresso machine didn't provide a hot cup of coffee, nor was there any cream, but when I called the office they happily brought some.
