Great place just outside the main centre. Quiet location. Roomy cabin with spa. Plenty of bed spaces for 3 adults and 3 children. Kids were disappointed there was no pool though. Could do with laundry facilities too.

Nice quiet area. Good shops just down the road with groceries, nice cafe and takeaway. Lovely staff! They gave us a family pass to the dinosaur museum, the kids loved it. Thank you!

Good value for a large family (7 of us) Not far from most attractions in Canberra. Self contained kept the costs down and shops were not too far away. Good parking. Twin shower great when bathing little ones. Little bit cramped for 7 but you don't spend much time there anyway so not really a problem. Area was quiet at night. Only small criticism, kitchen needed a few items e.g plastic bowls, plates and cups (Ikea type) New toaster as it didn't fit in bread slices and a 4 slice one would be great) Knives needed sharpening. Linen was plentiful and clean. Overall we were happy with our accommodation and will stay again on our next visit to Canberra

Not a five star
The Carotel is adequate that’s it, nothing fancy no extras not even what it says on the website. The worst thing about it is no pool as advertised, and the gas cooker can only be lit with great effort, you have to kneel on the floor to use the oven. The best thing about the Carotel is the staff, from reception to caretaker you get ultra friendly and super halfull. Be careful with the Wotif website I ended up paying $64 more than quoted. It is useful place to stay but don’t expect the Savoy.

Outside housecleaning very poor. Cigarette butts and rubbish outside cabin. No garden just high weeds. Unsatisfactory bedding for adults in cabin.

The website needs to be updated, the entry has moved. There was no laundromat available. However, the beds were comfortable and room was clean. The place is being renovated and I hope a Children’s Play Area will be in the plans.

Holidiay Cabin
While the tariff was very reasonable, the complex is undergoing complete renovation involving the demolition of many obsolete cabins, making the surrounds depressing. Our cabin required some basic maintenance (leaking taps, dead light bulb, etc) and there were cockroaches in evidence. The Office Assistant was very nice and most obliging..

You get what you pay for.
This is a consistently clean, easy, pleasant experience. Stayed here 3 times. The price is great, location nice a close to the city/attractions of Canberra. Everything could be better but so what. It is always clean. The beds are ok. The space s fine. It’s not noisy. As an overnighter it’s perfectly fine. The staff are always polite and helpful. We had a few on working items - tv, light, exhaust fan. The staff were good about sorting them out. It’s not a 5star hotel - it’s a great, reasonably priced place for a family to stay. Thanks guys.

Great accommodation for our little family...well priced and just far enough out of the city centre to escape the hustle and bustle...but travelling to activities and points of interest was only between 15 to 45 minutes depending on location...Cabin was clean and tidy, staff were very friendly and overall an excellent base camp for our needs....!!!

Great motel but NO wifi even though advertised.
Everything was good at this hotel BUT I am getting very tired of those hotels/motesl that advertise Wifi but is not useable when connecting. This is happening more and more. Either they should advertise and provide wifi or not advertise it at all. If they advertised wifi but cannot guarantee it they should say so. Very Pleased With Stay
We had a very comfortable stay. As a family of 5 the room was very spacious. Plenty of room for kids. Heating was great. We were toasty warm. Greeted by very pleasant staff. Room was very clean and tidy. Will certainly be happy to stay there again.

Best for groups with own transport
For a large family like us, staying here is always the choice. We booked two large family cabins for our group of 20. Cabins are large enough to accommodate 10 people at a time with enough room to move around. Clean and comfortable. Grounds are spacious and quiet, away from the city. Best for groups on a budget who are in Canberra for the tourist attractions! Having your own car is amust though as it is a few kms from the town centre.

Don't get your hopes up.
I guess that I should go easy on this hotel - after all, it is what it is. Budget hotel rooms as part of a caravan park. Still, for $105.00 a night, my expectations were for a little more. To be fair, it wasn't terrible, but extremely dated. I found it noisy - especially with trucks flying through the park at 6.30am on a Saturday. I could hear our room neighbours giggling away at 2.30am. Not the fault of the hotel, but clearly very thin walls. The shop is extremely well stocked, but it is a fair way from anything if you don't have transport. I was also not aware that the room wouldn't be serviced (we had a two night stay), so had to get fresh towels, shampoo and conditioner from the office.

Fresh towels are indeed supplied daily, if you leave your used ones on the bathroom floor. Despite this information being displayed in each bathroom, guests sometimes miss the sign. Don't stay up late. Don't sleep in.
If you plan on sleeping in after a late night, don't. The noise of made by children of inconsiderate guests will wake you up as they ride their cheap off brand scooters around the parking lot. Or the noise from the bus loads of school kids in the evening who can't read the quiet please sign on the side of the caretaker's building. Other than excess noise. The place is in a quiet area, at the foot of Mt Majura. The motel rooms have reverse cycle air con, nice big tv with only free to air channels. Comfortable kindsized bed that felt like it could be pushed apart. There was only one power socket, so best pack a powerboard if you need to charge many devices. The extraction fan in the bathroom is on a motion detecting timer, but it turns off after 30 seconds. Could be longer as it stops while your still in the shower, unless they want you to only shower for that long. Parking is not clearly defined for some units, if even at all. Plenty of Pokémon to catch in the area for those that need to collect all of the things.

Run down, dirty and not family friendly
We stayed for 2 nights with our 4 kids (9,7,3&1) in a 1 bedroom family room. The room was nowhere near big enough for 6 people! The room was so old and run down. The furniture and carpet were stained. The bed were so uncomfortable. The WiFi didn't work. There's no playground or any other amenities for kids. We definitely won't be back.
