A recommencer!

Great location between 2 main vaporetto routes...

Publié le 23 août 2012
Les + : Location
Les - : No air con (although there was a free standing fan)
Situation : Within easy walking distance of shops, restaurants and vaporetto stops
I stayed in the single room at the B&B for 3 nights in August 2012. I found the room to be basic but clean and my single room was more than big enough to have held 2 beds and still have space. (I was disappointed that there was no mirror or bedside lamp in the room though!) The B&B is placed in a residential area but is only 2 minutes walk to shops, restaurants - 7 minutes to the Ca'D'Oro vaporetto stop on the grand canal - about 10 minutes walk to F.Nova stop which was very easy access from the airport. (The directions on the B&B website from F.Nova were good but my advice would be to watch out for the coop supermarket rather than the cinema as it is much easier to spot as the cinema door is round the corner!)... It was also within easy walking distance of the St.Lucia train station but with a heavy suitcase I chose to use the vaporetto from the Ca'D'Oro stop. You choose what time to have breakfast served in your room 8:30am-9:30am. It consisted of 3 small slices of toast with butter and jam, 2 cake bars, 12 biscuits (!?!), fruit juice and coffee. I never had to wait for the bathroom other than needing the loo at 3:30am and someone was taking a shower for 30 minutes! All in all I would say the B&B is good value for money given that it is ideally located between 2 main vaporetto stops and within easy walking distance of the heart of Venice. As a single female traveller it felt safe and I would stay there again.

B&B San Paola was a very nice stay overall

Publié le 19 août 2012
Les + : Free Wifi and close to shops and restaurants
Les - : can be a bit loud, you can hear when people are walking by. At this time of year the weather is extremly hot, but there is a fan in the room
Situation : Locatio and was ok, close to shops and restaurants
San Paola B&B was very good for the price. Although, it was a shared bathroom, I had no issued when it comes to using the bathroom. The ownwer was able to understand english and was very nice and helpful. Breackfast was nice and the free WIFI was even better. Location could be a bit hard to find, but if you ask around, its not an issue at all " located in Cannaregio area of the city" near many restaurants and shops. One downside is that it can be a bit loud with the window open when people are walking/talking outside. Overall, nice and secure place.

Excellent everything

Publié le 4 juil. 2012 sur Hotels.com
Everything was quite perfect for the price range. Pretty well located, good room, clean, polite and helpful, walking distance from the action center. We were quite happy with most everything. Breakfast pretty ordinary for a North American but it's so in all of Europe. A bit noisy on the streets sometimes, but it's pretty much like that everywhere in Venice and I don't think it was any problem. I'll go back there again for sure if I come back. I recommend it.

Good Location, Decent Stay

Publié le 30 juin 2012 sur Hotels.com
Overall we were satisfied with San Paolo B&B. The location was good, and well-priced for being on the main island. It was about a 20 minute walk to the hotel from the train station on the island with luggage. There's a few cafes and places to eat very nearby, and it's next to the main touristy path (lined with vendors, shops) that takes you all the way to the train station. Allan provided a decent breakfast each morning at the time of our choosing, and promptly knocked on the door each morning at our chosen time to deliver breakfast (a couple pastries, cookies, coffee, juice). One thing that made our stay much less comfortable was the lack of decent air conditioning. There was an electric cooling fan in our room that just didn't cool very well, so we were sweating bullets in the room much of the time. We were there in the heat of late June so keep that in mind. We had a mini-fridge which was an excellent resource. I'm not sure if all rooms had one, but we utilized it for storing some drinks and cold food. One important note, when we arrived, we did not know if we were at the right place. It's in an old several-story building slightly off the beaten path, we did not see any signs for the B&B, and the outside door was locked. You can buzz residents from outside, so we started buzzing a couple names on the outside before Allan, who runs the B&B, let us in (so be sure to buzz Allan to get in if the door isnt open!).

4 night's stay in San Paolo, May 2012

Publié le 3 juin 2012 sur Hotels.com
B&B not identified from the street making it hard to identify. Excellent location away from the tourist crowds and easy access to 'public' water taxi to airport, Murano and more. Room lacked a side table light to turn off from the bed, leaving only the overhead main light and switch as you enter the room. One bathroom shared by 3 or more rooms (more than 3 people) making it hard to get into the bathroom. No mirror in the room, so the bathroom had to be used. The room was basic, but clean. It was an inexpensive place to sleep, but no other services or information about the surrounding area. They were willing to let me keep my room key and the luggage in the room beyond the departure time on the last day.
