A gem in the middle of nowhere!
Our second visit, delighted with the room. Evening meal was fantastic and breakfast set us up for the day ahead. Look forward to finding an excuse to visit again.

Wonderful and friendly
What a gem! We were on a coast to coast cycle tour when we stayed, tired, bedraggled, hungry and potentially grumpy, but the warmest of welcomes, lovely accomodation and fabulous tasty food put the smiles back on our faces. Owners and staff could not do enough for us. Cannot too highly recommend this great place.

I love it when something exceeds our expectations, and this stay did. Awesome hosts, outstanding dinner and a huge breakfast (Make sure you book a dinner time before you go. They are very busy and there is nowhere else around to eat). Highly recommend.

We had a lovely relaxing stay at the Staplyton Arms. We used it as a base to explore the stunning local countryside and it was also conveniently based for our dinner reservation at the Black Swan Restaurant which was only a 5 minute drive away. The hosts were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The room was very clean and comfortable and the lunch/breakfast was very good too. Overall I would really recommend a stay if you’re looking for a base to explore the area.

superb warm welcome . the bed was uber comfy as for the food dinner and breakfast - wow awesome ! 5 star with ells on! Try the Scampi rated by James Martin the Chef as the nest he has ever eaten, The menu choices are delicious as is breakfast

Very quaint place to stay in a quiet, small village. Check-in was easy. The owner even greeted us at the door. Our room was very well maintained and looked to be just a few years since a major renovation. The dinner in the restaurant on the first floor was fantastic. Everything was cooked perfectly and the price was just right. The complimentary breakfast was good too. The best English Breakfast I had while visiting the UK. Highly recommend this place! Also, there is the ruins of the once very large Byland Abbey 1/2 mile away. A must see if you stay here.

Hotel was spotless and the meals were excellent. I would certainly recommend the scampi. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. The village is very quiet with the only option to go walking. Room was small but certainly adequate with the bed very comfortable
