Great location, not-so-great cleanliness
This cottage is situated in a perfect spot! It's very short walk to South Village Beach, which I think is one of the best beaches on the mid-Cape.My family and I loved being able to bring our dog with us, but noticed the cottage wasn't nearly as clean as other rentals we've stayed in. I booked this one because of the glowing reviews, but they didn't ring true to us. All of the comforters and blankets were covered in dog hair upon arrival, as they are not washed in between stays. Many of the rugs and doormats were also pretty gnarly and there were piles of sand in the bedroom closets. There was an ant problem in the kitchen (which is normal for the Cape) but it got pretty bad by the end of the week. There was also a strong smell of gas coming from the stove during our stay. The owner assured us it's been checked out multiple times and it's not dangerous. Even so, the smell was pretty unpleasant.I wouldn't recommend this cottage for a group of adults. The listing says it sleeps 6, but the loft bed is not an actual twin bed â more like a stack of foam pads. All of the beds were unusually stiff and the pillows were thin.We're generally not super picky, but I think the lovely photos and excellent reviews gave us high expectations. Despite that, the owner's communication was excellent and quick.
