`This Northeast neighborhood is known for its nightlife, restaurants, pop-ups, festivals and communal atmosphere. Art lovers flock to The Atlas Performing Arts Center, home to a variety of performances, events and initiatives spanning a range of artistic traditions. The Atlas bills itself as “where the arts, culture and connection happen on H Street.”
The neighborhood’s largest event is the annual H Street Festival, which spans 10 blocks and attracts roughly thousands of patrons. Highlights of the fall event include musical performances and multi-cultural entertainment, in addition to art exhibits, for-sale crafts and an array of offerings from local food trucks and restaurants.`
Another must-see: the seasonal H Street Farmers` Market, open on Saturdays from mid-April to mid-December at 800 13th Street NE. Visitors will find the best of local, seasonal bounty, including handmade cow milk cheeses, fruits, vegetables, pastries and flowers. If you’re lucky, you might even catch a live chef demo and score some free samples.
As far as restaurants go, expect a multitude of delectable options. Toki Underground serves up hearty bowls of ramen and dumplings, while the dining-retail-coffeeshop triumvirate, Maketto, also features Taiwanese fare, as well as Cambodian dishes. Nearby, Stable serves up Swiss fondue and Raclette and Ben’s Chili Bowl delights visitors with its half-smokes.
Up early? Get in line for Bullfrog Bagels and satisfy your craving for traditional New York-style bagels. Staying up late? Locals love Copycat Co., a dumpling shop and cocktail bar that stays open late (closed Mondays and Tuesdays).`
Our home is conveniently located in the city with many options for public transportation.
Guests can access our home from both airports (DCA (closest to home+IAD(further from home since it’s in Virginia)) via Metro. Guests can take the metro to Union Station and then take the free DC street car to our home (4 min walk from the 18th and Benning stop to our front door). This trip is a 2 mile ride offering stops along the H street corridor.
From our home the free DC street car can be taken to Union station and guests can take the metro to any location further out or walk to the National Mall.
The street car comes approximately every 12 minutes during the following times: Monday – Thursday 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. Friday 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. Sunday 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
There is an app and website to track trolleys
Stadium Armory is the closest metro which is 0.7 miles from the home.
The Washington, DC Metro runs the following hours:
* Monday–Thursday: 5 AM–12 AM * Friday: 5 AM–1 AM * Saturday: 7 AM–1 AM * Sunday: 7 AM–12 AM **times do change sometimes with big events to help accommodate travelers.
Uber, Lyft, lime scooter rentals, Capital bike share, cabs, and the city bus are all other options for public transportation. Late check out fee: $200. While we understand time can get away from us all, our cleaners do only have a few hours to clean, sanitize, and return the unit to the condition it was found in prior to the next guests arrival in a few hours. Late check out puts the next guest check in at jeopardy and costs us addition fees as the cleaner is paid to wait for the property to be vacated. Thanks for the understanding!
**Unauthorized Pet fee of $500 will be charged if necessary. While we are animal lovers and have a Viszla puppy ourselves, guests with sensitivities and allergies can ensure our home will be a comfortable stay.

Les points forts : Propreté et infrastructures et conditions de l’hébergement
The neighborhood was not safe at all. People under the influence wandering all up and down the street. Parking garage was blocked by a vehicle the whole time we were there. No parking available on street either . Our son had to take our car to his home. Once inside the place was okay and felt safe enough. Bedrooms very small. Be aware no elevator. Hard with suitcases.
