The Space:
Desert Sky Hideaway offers style, comfort, and convenience in a rugged and scenic desert setting. Visit Big Bend National Park, Terlingua, Rio Grande, and Big Bend Ranch State Park for endless adventure. Stay at Desert Sky Hideaway for air-conditioning, hot water, grid electric, high speed Wi-Fi, spacious kitchen, relaxing living room, large dining table, three bedrooms with comfortable beds, two full bathrooms, and a shaded patio.

Three Bedrooms to sleep six guests in comfort on high quality beds and fresh linens. The king bedroom is spacious with excellent views. The queen bedroom is a bit small but well appointed and comfortable. The twin bedroom has two twin beds.

Two bathrooms with hot water, flushing toilets, and sinks. One bathroom has a tub and shower combo. The other bathroom has a shower.

Spacious kitchen with gas oven and stove, fridge, microwave, and stocked with dishes and cookware. Everything you need to prepare a meal or a quick snack.

The dining area is open to the kitchen and the front living area. It features a large table the seats six comfortably. The perfect place to socialize with family or friends.

There are two living room areas. One is open to the dining area and kitchen. The other is in a separate room with plenty of space to relax.

Conveniently located just a half mile from the Terlingua Ghost Town and ten minutes from the western entrance to Big Bend National Park. Desert Sky Hideaway is an excellent home base for your Big Bend adventures.

Interaction with Guests:
We manage several properties and live a few miles away. We are available by phone, text, email, or message. We are typically only on site for cleaning or maintenance issues.

My wife and I and another couple recently spent four nights at the Desert Sky Hideaway, conveniently located near Terlingua Ghost Town. The house is ideally located for exploring Big Bend and Big Bend Ranch. It has an industrial, minimalist interior that perfectly fits its desert environment. The house was very clean, beds were comfortable, kitchen and bathrooms well-supplied. It also has a spectacular view of the Chisos Mountains in Big Bend National Park. We had a very comfortable stay and would definitely stay there again on a future visit to Big Bend Country.

Our family loved the location- dark skies for amazing star gazing and close to gas, Dollar tree and restaurants. We enjoyed rock hounding right outside the front door and the wildlife - bunnies, coyotes, birds and more. Great room for family dinners and had everything needed for cooking.Daryl and his wife were great with communicating for usual stuff and when fuse affected some lights intermittently. Definitely recommend this beautiful home.

The property was everything that was listed and more. The kitchen was well equipped and we ate most meals there. We grilled two nights and had breakfast for supper the other night. Very close to restaurants in the area, but only ate out once. Terlingua is a special place and the property made it even more special. We were traveling with our son and his family. The boys enjoyed playing in the front and riding mountain bikes in the area. We stayed in one night and decided to watch a movie. We could not figure out the internet, but the host helped immediately and we had a fun night. The best part was the front porch and watching the sunrise. Our pics have been commented about several times. We stayed out several nights just stargazing. We spent two days in the national park and two days in the state park. The house was perfectly situated for our plans. I highly recommend this house. It truly was a home away from home!

The house was as pictured. We cook a lot of our meals so the well-stocked cookware was a plus as was the propane grill. The stainless steel counters in the kitchen made for easy cleanup.We also liked the large dining area and living room area. We got creative with storage in the queen bedroom but made it work.Showers were great - good water pressure and plenty of hot water for us all.

Perfect spot to explore park

We had five adults at the house. As the listing says, the queen bedroom is smaller. We had just one adult stay there. The king room is a great size. Two full bathrooms were key for our group. Water pressure wasn’t great but manageable. Kitchen well equipped to cook and lots of refrigerator space for food and drinks. It is about 30-1 hour from the park depending on which area but it is a beautiful drive. It is close to a couple of restaurants, decent but small grocery store. The whole area is remote but this house was in the right location for us. We loved sitting on the front porch looking out over the mountains. The road is rough but driveable with a passenger car (when not muddy). We would definitely rent here again.

Fully appointed desert home

I came with two friends on a bird watching trip to Big Bend. We had everything we needed to cook meals daily and the beds were very comfortable. Star gazing on the front porch was amazing but even better were the new birds that we saw while enjoying a glass of wine out front; roadrunners, scaled quail, hummingbirds, orioles, and even a green tailed towhee! The hosts were very responsive and answered our questions promptly. We will definitely come back to stay again next time we are in the area.

Loved the front porch

Rustic but spacious and convenient to Big Bend. We had a few issues (one mini-split didn't work but is to be replaced) and the alarm on the tankless hot-water heater went off. The repair man, Abel, came within the hour each time. The dirt road is accessible by sedan in DRY weather but the four steep dips (two 8' deep and two 20' deep) were unnerving. We loved sitting on the front porch in the evening watching a roadrunner come up close and seeing the moon rise, as well as gazing up at the milky way when we got up at 6 AM to beat the heat. Suggestions to other guests are to take several gallons of water with you (much of the park has NO water) and the website hours/days for Milky Way Treats in Terlingua are not reliable.

Great house, wish we could have stayed longer

We enjoyed our stay. The house is as pictured (the showers are industrial-style, but this was not a surprise). We ate at Spicewood Restaurant in Alpine when we stopped for groceries and really enjoyed it. Unfortunately and unrelated to our stay, our dog ran away and we had to end our trip early to drive home and look for him (we ended up finding him in a bayou!). The house has amazing wifi, which helped when I was posting all over to try to find him. It's also super convenient for entering Big Bend. We hope to return some day.

We had a wonderful stay. The home was well stocked and very clean. It was convenient for our hiking adventures in Big Bend National park. Would recommend this home to anyone who needs accommodations near Big Bend.
