The property and room was so pretty and down to earth. Nothing fancy but right up our alley. The dinners they serve were high class and very good.

Wonderful ambiance at this historic inn! The owner and staff were friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and clean. So many little touches that made the stay homey. Loved having a basket of snacks and breakfast food provided to be able to eat in our room and relax in the morning. They accommodated my dietary restrictions that I had notified them of at time of making reservation. The interior decorating fit the historic building perfectly! Giving a feel of old, but with the comforts and cleanliness of new. Dinner in the restaurant was delightful with good food and live music (Thursday night).We slept well and enjoyed our stay.

Seemed friendly until they wanted to close an hour before closing time on a Saturday. Be sure to have a back up plan for something to do after 8 o'clock on a Saturday night if you are staying at the in, because Carmen is not hanging around just for you...even if you had a $100 dinner and tipped her $40...kinda lame.

Hi Liam, In such a rural location on a night with freezing rain and only one other couple in the tavern (also staying with us and on their way out) we sometimes make a decision to close early, rather than staying open when it is costing us money to do so. As I understand it, Carmen had already cleaned up and cashed out and was ready to leave when you came in. My manager missed the exchange or would have supplied you with a nightcap to take back to your room. I apologize if not having a nightcap ruined what I heard was otherwise a nice time for you. We prioritize the safety of our staff, and it made sense for us to close early.

Wonderful New England atmosphere
Charming New Hampshire Inn and Restaurant. We both enjoyed dinner at the restaurant and stayed overnight. Staff were friendly and attentive. The manager even moved her car so we would have a parking space close to the Inn. The food was really good, and we appreciated that they like to use locally sourced produce and meats. Our only complaint may be outside of their control. There was an outside door to our room, and there was an odd noise outside and on the door for most of the night (wind? critter?). It wouldn't deter us from staying again. Definitely recommend this business.

Birchwood was a great find. Our room had an air of comfort and tranquility. The restaurant’s staff and food, I believe, could compete with any top restaurant. I would recommend Birchwood Inn to anyone.

Good food and a pleasant stay
The Inn and Tavern are listed on the National Record of Historic Places. The people are very accommodating. The room in which we stayed and the restaurant were very clean and tidy. The exterior could use a bit of spring clean-up and maintenance. Our stay was in the early spring. Perhaps that process is about to begin.

Awesome B&B!
Overall an awesome place and really Loved the rustic aspect! There were a few minor cobwebs when we first got into the room but it was very clean otherwise. The water pressure was a bit questionable at times is probably the only improvement I might recommend. Loved the food!

Thanks for the feedback! Cobwebs don't take long to appear in a 1775 building, I took care of some yesterday that were not there last week! We struggle with water pressure, especially on the nights the restaurant is open and the dishwashers are working hard, I am learning I need to advise guests about that. We're debuting our new menu tonight so you have a reason to come back! Thanks so much for visiting and we hope to see you again!

Cute little place to stay for the weekend. Staff was very friendly and supportive. The room was adorable. Only problem i had was when i went to shower friday night i had no hot water but i think thats because the kitchen was still open down stairs.

A very lovely inn and I would definitely stay again. The staff is so friendly and helpful. The amenities are amazing. The bed was way too soft for my comfort but that is a personal preference and they can’t please everyone.

Gorgeous location and an adorable kitchen garden right outside the guest rooms. Bathroom wasn't the best maintained (sink doesn't really drain all that well) but a minor wart on and otherwise lovely place.

Amy and Wendy were the most gracious hosts on our visit! Amy actually took the time to give us a mini informative history of Birchwood (BW) and surrounding sites. It was important for us to experience the character of New England and BW delivered! The charm of this Inn in NH is remarkable! Do yourself a favor by booking your stay here!!

Amy & Matthew were very welcoming & great hosts at their inn. My room was very clean, homey & stocked with snacks. Bed was very comfortable. A large assortment of fresh fruit, cereal, yogurt, muffins, milk & juice to choose from for breakfast. Went to the restaurant for supper. The bar was renovated 2 yrs ago. Very nicely decorated & relaxing. The locals were very friendly. Would definitely stay again!

Home away from home.
It was a wonderful room with a very comfortable bed but what I really loved was that the room was fully stocked with snacks, drinks and breakfast items when I showed up to make it feel more like a home away from home.

The room was clean and comfortable. There was a microwave, mini fridge with fresh fruit & yogurts, and a Keurig/electric kettle for your choice of tea or coffee. We especially loved the basket of snacks left for us. Would definitely recommend this charming inn!

Although the inn only has 3 rooms - there is also a restaurant with excellent food serving dinner (in an area with limited restaurants) and you also get a breakfast basket with a variety of items. There is also a tavern with the restaurant - so in may ways a full service inn and not just a B&B. The room was great (in a B&B old house way) but a nice tub shower combo etc.

A great find. This was a last minute decision to go to NH and The Birchwood Inn hit the mark. Everything was great about the visit including the meal that evening and the stories from the owners that went with it.

Stay at the Birchwood Inn....you'll love it!
We stayed at the Birchwood Inn this past weekend and our trip was incredible! The inn itself is very quaint and has some interesting history (be sure to check out the murals in the dining room). The rooms were comfortable, clean and spacious and they gave us a generous basket that contained with muffins, cereal, juice, milk, half ‘n half, snacks, granola bars, etc. at check-in. The grounds are really pretty and there is a ton of outdoor seating. Be sure to eat at least one meal at the tavern, we had dinner there both nights of our stay and the food and service were second to none. All of us enjoyed seafood the first evening, which was fresh and deliciously prepared. The second evening we went for burgers – both lamb & beef were available and both were perfectly grilled and tasty! In addition to the nice rooms and amazing food, the staff at this place can’t be beat! Everyone, was friendly, knowledgeable about the region and super accommodating. The owner of the inn was even kind enough to drive us back and forth to a concert in the area on Saturday night. We’re definitely looking forward to visiting again the in the future and will be sure to stick around for brunch this time! A perfect lodging while we took in several concerts at the nearby Range. Our room was separate from the rest with it's own entrance which allowed us to return late at night without disturbing anyone. Thick bath towels, a continental breakfast in our room with lots of fruit, and an exceptionally comfortable bed are some of the details that make this place special. We look forward to coming back!

The Birchwood was an all around great night away. The room is huge and provides plenty of time and space to relax and the touches of hospitality make the Inn sparkle. Matt and Amy are very gracious hosts. The dining room was a big a surprise (I only booked the room not knowing) and what a pleasant surprise it was. Huge servings of homemade everything! So good!
