Ridge Country Retreat Review

It was in the back of beyond however there was no shielding the neighbouring property which resembled a rubbish tip. When you went in and out of your room every-time it was an eye sore. The rooms were spacious however the bedding was dirty and stained. The continental breakfast supplied in the room was generous and good. The property however was lacking in character and all the finishing touches which would make a difference. They were in the process of changing the exterior colour of the buildings but would have been better of providing screening from the neighbours. It has potential but however I would not recommend the premises to friends. There was no privacy at all. For $300 per night it was a let down.

Awesome retreat

I totally recommend this place as a welcome relief from busy schedules. The size and quality of the room was exceptional. Also amazing was the expansive views. True value for money and totally relaxing. I recommend you also organise a full body massage followed by a glass of bubbly to cap the experience off!

Very disappointing.... hardly luxury.

Billed as Luxury accommodation we had high expectations. How disappointing to find a dirty pool ( excuses given) , no air conditioning in the room, more excuses about outside bath not working, unkempt lawns and gardens and having to look at broken furniture and cleaning gear every time we walked down the entrance way. Staff not friendly- had to ask the Manager to turn down his music on the first night so we could get to sleep.

Beautiful resort, great experience!

We had such a wonderful time here, so peaceful and a great location. The room was lovely and private, the pool and outdoor area were a nice treat and a great way to relax. Definitely staying here again!! (Only bad thing I could say is we didn't have a fan in the room and it was really humid that day, but minor inconvenience!)

Remote and noisy

Not sure why you would work on construction when you have guestings staying in the room above?! 'Retreat' doesn't evoke waking to hammering and power tools each morning. The room, bed and bathroom were large. The deck with bush views would have been nice if it was private and quiet. Arrived after the office shut (had called) and never saw any staff so never actually checked in or out. All in all pretty disappointing to drive out so far but have no tranquility or service.

Not up to expectations

Beautiful location, the hotel is far from town which is not necessarily a bad thing, but there aren't any facilities within the hotel, so you need to eat before you go. The hotel needs maintenance, its already a bit rundown. The pool is cold in the NZ summer, which is not that warm anyway, so they should keep it warm all year around as there is nothing else to do around there. Good place for a night away but there are better choices for the price in other areas. Breakfast is continental and left in the room the day before, which is a bit odd for a 4 start hotel. Rooms are very generous and bathroom well equipped, Wi fi is free which is a bonus.

Stunning rural views up in the hills above Papamoa

Really enjoyed our stay at Ridge Country Retreat, we only wish that we could have stayed longer than one night. King bed was really comfortable, the bedroom and bathroom were massive, loved the spa bath in the room, free Wi-Fi, great views, Breakfast was fantastic and left in your room the night before so that you could have it at your own leisure - we took ours out onto the deck with views of the pool and surrounding hills. Didn't have the chance to use the outdoor pool or spa but they looked great, and the lounge room had a big fireplace that would make it incredibly cosy if you stayed during winter. Great value for high quality accommodation.

Enjoyed our stay.the views from room and balcony are fantastic.the neighborhood is quiet you just can relax and enjoy the pool and spa,I would go back but this i will stay for at least 2 nights
