Charming 1-bedroom apartment in the gorgeous mountains in Szklarska Poręba

Experience Szklarska Poręba like a local in this delightful one-bedroom apartment. With heating, WiFi, and a washing machine, guests can unwind in the cosy living room with a sofa bed. Kickback, relax and enjoy everything Szklarska Poręba and our apartment have to offer.

THE HOUSE
Frey is an apartment located in a pre-war, over 130-year-old house in the centre of Szklarska Poręba, which I have restored to its original shape. Within its 75 square meters, open to all sides of the world, you'll find renovated wooden floors and antique tiles, arches connecting large rooms, wooden windows and doors (and even a wooden ceiling in one of the rooms), and a colourful decor that pays homage to the history of the place.

The apartment is divided into:
- a bedroom with a double bed (facing the garden, ensuring a quiet atmosphere),
- a large, spacious living room with a wooden ceiling, armchairs, and a comfortable sofa bed,
- a kitchen-dining room connected to the living room by a large arch, featuring a big table,
- a bathroom with a bathtub and access to a balcony,
- a second balcony, accessible from both the kitchen and the living room,
- a utility room with a dishwasher, washing machine, and dryer,
- a hallway for storing equipment (bicycles, skis, snowboards – we have drip trays),
- a glazed porch with a coat rack.

Don’t worry about the proximity to the centre of Szklarska Poręba. The house is located on a very quiet street, just 78 meters from the forest. We’ll also share our favourite non-touristy spots in the area with you.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?
In our unique home, you can truly relax. Enjoy the peace, the proximity to the forest (just 78 meters away), the bathtub where you can take a soak with the balcony doors open (in winter, it feels like bathing in a traditional wooden tub), host feasts on the terrace, feel over 100 years of history, soak in its energy, recharge with vibrant colors, and simply spend quality time together.

The house is located in the heart of Szklarska Poręba, but on a small, quiet street with only six houses, offering peace and tranquility. It’s a perfect base for exploring the town and setting off on hiking trails. You can leave the house and, through the forest, reach the Szklarki Waterfall and Chybotek, from where you can head towards the Tomb of the Giant and the Złoty Widok viewpoint.

Some of the unique attractions in our area include:
- Śnieżne Kotły – glacial cirques and a fantastic viewpoint,
- Wielki Szyszak – the second-highest peak in the Karkonosze Mountains,
- Jakuszycka Meadow – a paradise for cross-country skiing enthusiasts,
- Jakuszyce Glassworks,
- Crocus Reserve in Górzyniec, best visited in early spring,
- Bobrowe Skały – a favourite for rock climbing lovers,
- Wang Temple,
- Ski slopes in the border town of Harrachov,
- Palace in Staniszów and the stunning Pakoszów Palace,
- Juna Earth Museum.

The well-developed network of hiking trails in the town and surrounding areas (almost 100 km of marked trails) and the proximity to chairlifts and drag lifts in the mountains create excellent conditions for year-round tourism.

Cycling enthusiasts will find plenty of options, too. You can choose a route based on your fitness level, preference, and skills, such as the 9-kilometer Three Districts Connector or the challenging 50-kilometer Cogeneration Route, which traverses the Karkonosze and Izerskie Mountains. You might also opt for the middle ground with a 20-kilometer ride along the Great Szklarska Loop.

For cross-country skiers, Jakuszyce needs no introduction. Those already proficient in technique can challenge themselves in the Piast Race, while beginners can start with a lesson and, after an hour of training, take the route to the beautiful Orle Mountain Shelter.
