Decent stay for decent price
Very handy considering I had last minute trip to Swindon and didn't fancy the drive back to Birmingham at that time of night. Food was excellent and came quickly. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Overwhelming smell of paint didn't make for a great night's sleep but that would just be my luck that night. Overall I'd recommend this place though

Used shower gel bottles left in shower tray. Otherwise everything excellent, friendly and helpful staff good food reasonably priced

Needs some maintenance
Lovely room but wifi didn't work, bedside lights didn't work so had to leave the bathroom light on to get around, toilet seat broken and precarious. Could have been brilliant if a little maintenence had been attended to.

The Vale is a great hotel! I stayed here while walking the Thames Path, and it was a perfect stop-off. My room was immaculately clean and had everything I needed. I was able to check in early, which was great. I am a woman travelling alone and was made to feel very welcome in the bar/restaurant in the evening, and had a delicious meal. Thank you very much!

Loud music until 1.30 am
Where to start! The room had several niggles such as no socket near the bed, a mirror standing on the floor instead of on the wall and a timed light in the bathroom that goes off halfway through your shower all of which I could have coped with however on my second night, after being told the bar downstairs was quiet and closed at 11 there was very loud 80's music played until after 1.30am making sleep difficult. My room was not serviced after the first night so I put the sign out requesting the room to be cleaned after the second night, again no cleaning, not even the bin was emptied despite the booking site saying they had daily housekeeping. I am in this area often but will not be returning

To say it was my first time in the Cotswolds area, I was made to feel right at home as soon as I entered the building- Mark is very friendly. Nice pub/restaurant downstairs, and my room was great too- very clean, secure and equipped beyond the necessities for a hotel room. En-suite to the same standard too. There’s also a free 24hour car park behind the building (very safe). Absolutely nothing to complain about- top marks. Would definitely recommend- cheers for the stay!

Lovely room, great host!
We stayed here as a stop off on the way home from Portsmouth after a motorbike tour of Europe. I contacted the hotel the day before to ask about checking in after 9 just in case and he told me there's be no issue. On arrival we checked in but stayed in the bar to watch the rugby. The owner asked if we'd ate and told us there was a kebab shop next door and we could bring it into the pub. He also let us store our bikes in a shed overnight. Later when we went up to our room I realised it wasn't the bigger room that I had booked, I went down to enquire and was moved to the correct room no problem. The room was gorgeous, roomy and the bed was really comfortable. Definitely recommend here. Thank you

No breakfast available Bathroom floor sloped out into the room so carpet smelled mouldy as it was obviously getting frequently damp. Good WiFi in room.

Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately with the building being 16th century the floors are a bit sloped. The building has its quirks. Breakfast options were available in other establishments along the high street which hopefully you enjoyed. We hope you enjoyed your stay.

Thank you Taylor for being an amazing host!
Thank you to Taylor for looking after me. I arrived late for check-in and Taylor dealt with the check-in procedure. Swiftly led me to the room and explained the early morning exit procedure. Taylor also prepared 2 fabulous espresso martinis. I thoroughly enjoyed my time and the room was very quiet in a quirky period building fused with modern interior.

Good stay
Nice hotel in a cute little village with good local amenities. Hotel check in was easy and access in and out was good. Felt nice and private.

Nice small room - will return. Not an ensuite.
The hotel is very well decorated and cozy. I think the description on the hotels.com website needs to be updated though. When I arrived in the room, the toilet was right next to the bed. It certainly isn’t an “ensuite” as described. I didn’t mind too much, but it did take me aback when I saw it. I would definitely stay again. Great place.

We had two nights in a comfortable room, spacious...clean with all necessary facilities. Double glazed to prevent disturbance from traffic. Access via metal spiral staircase fire escape could be an issue for less able visitors...but we were fine. Staff helpful. We found an excellent shop/cafe for breakfast further down High St run by 4th generation local family and can recommend the local fish/chip shop. Wouldn't hesitate to return when back in Cricklade area again.

Booked a room for 2 nights and did not realise that I would be able to hear the bar from my room. The Hotel is in front of a busy small roundabout. With Cars and lorries clearly using Cricklade as a rat run, the noise was all night. The final and most dangerous aspect of staying at this hotel was the way in which I was expected to leave the building. It was via a tight spiral staircase at the back. This was just about OK when I left the first morning, but checking out with a large heavy suitcase was scary and simply dangerous. I almost fell twice. This was a ridiculous method of exit. For this reason alone I would NEVER use this place again and nor would I recommend it to anyone - unless you are interested in trying to break your neck.

Hi Adrian,I did explian the exit when you checked in, The bar closes most nights before 11pm so I hope it did not disturb you, as for the road noise, we are on abusy road but it generally get quiet by about 10 pm.
