The Windsor Hotel in Stratford was a wonderful place to stay for our three day visit over the recent long weekend. The newly renovated hotel is lovely, and the historic rooms have been upgraded with great attention to detail. More than the hotel itself, the owner and staff are outstanding. Tushar, one of the co-owners, went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that we were comfortable and well taken care of. Marou, Ankit and Kayla were excellent as well. More than anything else, we felt like honoured guests in their home and we felt that we were appreciated. This is very rare these days. It's apparent that Tushar and his team set high standards and try to exceed them each and every day. I would highly recommend anyone visiting Stratford and wanting to stay in the centre of town, with walking access to theatres, shopping and great dining experiences, to stay here.

The hotel was not ready to open. The bathroom was not finished. There is a sofa in front of the front desk which is supposed to be a lobby. Expedia claimed the hotel served breakfast but the hotel is not prepared at this time to do so. The management informed us that they are working on building a kitchen. The staff were friendly but none of them had ever had a meal in Stratford. They knew nothing about the town: restaurants, convenience stores. There are other properties in Stratford that I wish I had booked. I will no longer use Expedia - I do not trust the you do your research on properties.

The day before check-in, we were told they couldn't accommodate us at The Windsor Hotel and we were moved to another hotel: The Stratford Hotel. They'd already taken full payment, 7 days before our check-in date plus, with so little time left before our scheduled arrival, what choice did we have? They upgraded our room for the inconvenience, but it wasn't what we would've wanted ... had we been able to choose for ourselves.

First Time Stay
We understand the hotel is under updating. Attention should be paid to the quality of painting. Electrical box sitting outside of the baseboard. No radio or phone in the room. NO WIFI AVAILABILITY. I am not going into the hall to use Wifi for personal or business use. Take note of your Fire Extinguisher examination card. 2021?????? So those are the negatives. On the positive side our room was small (that is what I booked) it was very very clean and well stocked. The staff at this Hotel are AWESOME. My husband and I are an older couple. The staff showed respect and consideration of our limitations. They offered to help with luggage to our rooms, help with Wifi, supper recommendations, concern to keep the front entry clean, the night staff gentleman came to our door with a wake up call at 5:30 am when his call would not go through my cell (won't ring me with an unrecognizable incoming number). That same person walked me, with my luggage (while my disabled husband could wait in a warm entry) to the (very dark at 6:00am) parking lot and placed same luggage into my SUV. He was awesome!!!!!! If you can elevate your renovations to the level of quality of the staff you have a WINNER!

The property is seasoned. The room was very large with 2 double beds. My concern was the Expedia booking. I was told by the hotel I could not book direct so I used Expedia then when I called the hotel with a change I was told to call Expedia. At check in the change had not been forwarded to the Hotel and somehow that was mine to own because I booked through Expedia? The room charges were charged to my credit card Nov 9 for a stay Nov 16-19. In addition $500/ per room security deposit(we had 3 rooms). The rooms were guaranteed on 1 credit card intending for each room to pay at time of check-in this could not be done as the payment was put through 5 days ahead. The concern from the hotel perspective was hotel policy or Expedia policy. Little concern about the customer. The hotel was great our stay was great, Stratford was what we expected. Hotel staff were great but unconcerned that close to $2500 for 3 rooms for 3. nights was charged to my cr card at the start of a Christmas shopping weekend. The responsibility fell to me to collect from my group. This was the biggest disappointment the internal management became my problem.

Stayed 2 nights, first day went shopping bought 3 pretty bars of handmade soap, 2nd day while out someone was sent to the room to check a loose mirror in the bathroom and when we were packing that afternoon the 3 bars of soap were not to be found. The attitude of the staff at this point was not helpful and we did not get our soap bars or any compensation. Very disappointing. Also the shower was not reliable and the bathroom not adequate.

It is a vintage hotel. With that you don’t get large rooms but this was very small, it was a queen bed in a room, no room for anything else. Parking was limited and only a few cars on site. The rest of the hotel had to park about 5 mins walk. But not many hotels in town. Should have been half the price.

The customer service was great! They were very accommodating. The location was wonderful and it was perfect to be able to be a few mins away from great restaurants, shopping, the Avon theatre, the walk along the river and close to parking options. The hotel has very minimal parking but the weather was decent so it was ok to walk to the copper lot. The room was nice but very small. They recently renovated but the ceilings are still cracked, and the room had a stuffy smell. The shower water came out yellow at first and having different faucets for hot and cold was a bit annoying. But over all more pluses than minuses. I would stay again if I was seeing a show at the Avon Theatre. You can’t beat the location!

Perfectly situated in downtown Stratford everything was within walking distance. Our room was nice but the bathroom was small and needed a little love to update it a bit. Would stay here again without hesitation.

Expensive for just “ok”
Room 218 was very loud. Paper thin walls and it is right by the stairs so lots of ppl coming and going. The room was large but empty. 2 double beds, a large dresser. It could have used a loveseat & maybe a rug as the floors were hardwood. The window in the bathroom was quite drafty. $340 for 1 night and I feel like I got the bare minimum- beds & a bathroom.

A nice stay in Stratford
Stayed for one night after a show... the hotel is an older one, and it shows. Small room and very small bathroom although I would imagine that reserving an accessible room would take care of that. The service, on the other hand, was excellent. Very nice furnishings, great communication, very easy access to the hotel. If you need to park overnight, they have some spaces close to the hotel - but you need to specify this when you reserve. Otherwise, you are parking at a city lot app. four or five blocks away. (Didn't have any problems with that - but just so you know...) A block away from a number of restaurants, and 3-min walk to Avon Theatre. Would stay here again.

The rooms were very spacious and well appointed. The beds, from the pillows to the mattress and bedding were excellent. One of the more comfortable beds I have slept in. The staff was exceptional. They even escorted us to our room. I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone. John Brandt

There was absolutely nothing that I liked about this property. It seemed as if it was built of cardboard. A couple of nights it seemed like elephants were prancing above us so we couldn’t sleep. The noise went on well after midnight. On night late we heard people yelling from our window. The bars of soap were so tiny that I had to purchase more at Shoppers. The staff wasn’t friendly. We had to walk many blocks to where our car was parked and the person in our party who was on the rental car contract has two very bad knees and it was painful for her to go back and forth. I will never book here again and I certainly will never recommend this hotel to anyone. What a disappointment.

We checked into the hotel after the Stratford play ended around 5 pm. The front desk clerk said he would come to help us get into our room. After the front desk clerk finally was able to open the door to the room, we entered and he left and closed the door. The hotel is an old facility that the owners have tried to restore. They are charging luxury hotel rates.When we attempted to leave the room to go to the restaurant we had made a reservation, the door would not open. We were unable to open the door no matter what we did. My wife began to call out as she heard someone in the hallway. It was an employee of the hotel vacuuming the hallway. He was unable to push the door open (it opened into the room) despite pushing and kicking it. I called the front desk and the gentleman who originally got us into the room came up. After a few minutes of both men pushing and kicking the door it suddenly opened. It was very frightening not being able to get out of the room. What if we had come. in and gone to bed and there was a fire and this had happened. The hotel moved us to another room but with two beds instead of a king bed, that was not as large. We asked if some form of discount would be given for our trouble. Three days after we checked out we received a note from the ,manager apologizing with no mention of a discount. Do not stay at this hotel!

Wonderful staff, super friendly and helpful. The building was clean, the lobby, the hallways and the rooms all very clean. This particular mini-suite was very basic. No window in the bedroom and only about 18 inches on either side of the bed. Floors were very tired, worn out and very un level. Bathroom was very tired, lots of chips out of the bathtub etc. I will say a very comfortable bed with nice and newer linens. Parking is a big problem as the hotel has only a few spaces and there is no overnight street parking. The closet overnight lot is about a ten minute walk. The rate for this room was over $400.00 per night with taxes and that is a lot of money for this type of hotel.

It was billed as newly renovated but our room clearly was not. There was less than 12” between toilet and sink. The toilet was less than 5” from the tub shower
