The worst hotel room that we have stayed in. Incredibly hot and not possible to cool down even with a fan and windows open, which allowed people to look into the room, from a footpath a few metres away. This was possibly due to location near hotel swimming pool. This room should never be offered

Good hotel. Great views of sea from room and restaurant. Comfortable bed. Food In restaurant was excellent. Convenient for beaches, harbour and other restaurants (but quite steep climb if not of average fitness) Room gets hot overnight (? Because of the fridge in the room) and there is no air conditioning. Nonetheless, I would go again.

Our hotel room was fabulous. We had a comfortable two room suite with a balcony and sweeping views of Saint Ives and the bay. However, we found the staff to be generally disinterested, and at times unhelpful. They would only do or say the bare minimum to address your requests. While one was directed to call the front desk to request various services, I had great difficulty getting anyone to ever answer that phone. I usually departed to just going and taking care of whatever the issue was myself. Love the hotel room, and the view, but the staff experience was enough that I would not likely return again.

Fab!
Loved our stay. Room was comfortable and the complimentary bottle of Prosecco was much appreciated. Had an excellent espresso martini at the bar! Spa facilities were fantastic.

Delightful
We had a wonderful stay. The spa facilities were amazing and the breakfast was varied and tasty. Our room was very warm and the window open was too noisy so would pay for sea view room next time. Staff were very attentive and offered fans and checked heating for us. We would stay again.

Property very clean, staff polite, very good Breakfast with poached eggs cooked perfectly. One recommendation I would make is to have a light on the dressing table mirror for when applying make up or drying my hair.

Beautiful St Ives. Lovely hotel and great staff. Not very impressed with the spa this time. Hoards of children took over facilities although not actually allowed. No supervision and steam room didn’t work on 2 occasions as staff do not carry out checks. Spas are for adults to relax. Leisure Centres are for children to let off steam

One minor concern for room 308. The floodlight illuminating the hotel signage outside beamed brightly into the room in the evening, even with shutters fully closed. On the plus side the complimentary decanter of gin was a beautiful touch as was the valet parking. Gorgeous views of the beach and region. Staff service could not be faulted...

Great location and views although it’s a bit of a walk back up the hill from the harbour front. We are in our 50’s and was fine. Room was excellent. I liked the staff. Bit of a wait for food at breakfast when it gets busy. I would go again.

Weekend Away
Overall our stay was very good, room with a sea view was amazing - small but fine and the bathroom was spacious, clean and shower excellent. Great location with only a 10 minute walk into St Ives and parking was very useful and no hassle with the drop off area adjacent to the hotel entrance. Our only disappointment was the cooked breakfast on our first morning which was lukewarm and it looked like they were short staffed with only one taking orders and serving and there was a large wedding party to attend to?. Other than that we would highly recommend.

Great but…
To be fair the hotel is quite nice. It’s in a great location. I have a bit of a gripe about the car parking valet service. Firstly I wasn’t aware it was £10 per night. They take your car and put it on a bit of private land down by the station and we could see it from our sea view room. I spoke to reception on Saturday evening asking that our car can be brought up so we could leave at 7am Sunday morning. I was assured this would be done but come the morning it was still there. I spoke to the night manager about it and he said he couldn’t leave the hotel so basically I had to go down and get it myself. Not in itself a hardship but I didn’t get the service I expected and it was annoying. Then we found the radio and media centre wasn’t working. I can’t blame them but it was fine when we arrived. I found the food quite expensive too with an ‘optional service charge’ which was nearly an extra £10 per night. You can’t really take it off without looking mean but it sure racks up the bill! Otherwise it wasn’t too bad but we prefer Salcombe.

Overall good.
We recently stayed here for August bank holiday weekend. We have been here a couple of times before as it’s in an excellent location - walking distance into all the shops & restaurants of St Ives and includes valet car parking which is perfect. We were first put into a room which was a spacious bedroom size, however the bath shower and toilet were squeezed into a tiny space. Hardly any room to move. The staff were very friendly and helpful and we were able to move to a different room on the second night which was much bigger and more comfortable. Slightly disappointed in the cleanliness of both the rooms though, the fans in the rooms were thick with dust. The bath plug and doorstop were broken. One of the fans in the first room was broke.

Excellent location and great view!! I wanted to rate it 5* but we had some problems with the parking. The parking was a nightmare, it took us quite a lot of time when we arrived. And we waited for 45 minutes after check-out but we still couldn’t get our car back:( We almost missed our lunch booking. We came back again after lunch and it still took ages to get our car back. And it took ages to pay at check-out. The breakfast was lovely but we waited for 30 minutes to get our food. Short staffed?

I’ve stayed at this hotel before and things have always been fine, a decent mid hotel. However, this trip has been awful. I booked a double room as I needed a desk to work from. The double room I was given was half the size of the one I had stayed in previously, which was a bit odd. I had booked an extra night due to a train strike which was a single room. When I was moved to this room it was exactly the same size as the double! So don’t waste your money. The hotel has old sash windows as it’s so noisy. Either street side or bar side, you can listen to people scream and yell, play music etc constantly. Not great for relaxing or for working. The staff are all very nice but it doesn’t seem like there’s any authority and it’s luck of the drawer whether you get a room that’s quiet and spacious or tiny and loud. I will be making a complaint as you can’t charge people for a room that is supposedly bigger when it’s the same size, it’s doesn’t make sense. I also think guests would have an overall better experience if staff were able to handle some of the antisocial behaviour that went on, rather than just being passive to it.

Due to the layout of our Victorian building not all rooms have exactly the same size but we can guarantee that Single rooms are smaller than our doubles. We do not normally receive noise complaints from any of our rooms but please rest assured we will look further into it. If there is anything I can help with please do not hesitate to get in touch.
