Beautiful and peaceful
From the moment we drove up to the property, I knew this was going to be the vacation we were expecting. We wanted seclusion, beautiful scenery, cozy lodging, and water. All the boxes were checked with this one. The great thing is it's secluded, but also close to stores and downtown Sparta. We sat on the front porch in comfy rocking chairs each morning with coffee, and sat on the back patio at night by the outdoor fireplace. The river is shallow, so walking it is easy. My husband and son found many fishing holes nearby within walking distance from the house. We would love to go back to this house again, and we are already looking forward to it!

Lovely again!
We loved our stay! Joann is terrific and very communicative. The cabin and the property are lovely. There were ticks this year, which hadn't been the case before, and she was super-responsive in getting a treatment done for the property. A really wonderful getaway. Thanks!

Girls getaway
We live about and hour from Sparta. This was a weekend getaway for us moms. It was so relaxing, especially the sound of the River and then the fireplace at night. Can’t wait to visit again.

Seclusion
We were looking for a place off the beaten path to stay while traveling further south. Tucked away in the mountains is this little gem. Great for the fisherman or those really looking to get away. You won’t see people unless you want to. The house was well stocked with all we needed (other than food and drink). We did leave some firewood, though, you should bring your own. We had to scavenge/go buy some. The kids enjoyed sleeping in the loft area. The full bath upstairs is a huge plus. The only negative, is the queen bed was not good for two. Sleeping on the one side left you rolling to the center. Thankfully, the couch was also comfortable for sleeping! Great hiking trails close by, and Sparta is not a far drive at all for some good food and drinks. Saw several deer on the drive in, and a few turkeys.

Great getaway
This was a guys trout fishing trip and the house was perfect for that. Walking distance to the river and just the perfect spot. House was fully equipped with all you needed for your stay. Will definitely be back!

Incredible Place
We've been coming here for three years now, and have thoroughly enjoyed each stay. There are so many outdoor activities to do, or you can just relax on the porch and take in the scenery. Highly recommend for an incredible getaway!

Charming and Classy
The instant we walked through the door we were smitten with this home! It smelled fresh and woodsy. The space felt very bright, warm and welcoming; even nicer than expected. There was a beautiful view from every window. Being beside the river was a delight. It was interesting to watch the river change after a day of heavy rain. The river turned milky brown, flowed more swiftly as the water level rose, then slowly calmed as the skies cleared. Great place to tune into nature, and we also enjoyed watching the deer and many turkeys walking through the yard. Loved the bathroom sinks and that beautiful kitchen sink! Was very nice to have two bathrooms. The outdoor fireplace was sensational and made this place extra special. It's lovingly decorated and thoughtfully appointed. Thanks for a wonderful anniversary getaway! We hope to return sometime.

Solitude delivered
My husband and I chose the Solitude cabin because it looked beautiful and secluded. We couldn't have been more happy with our choice. We stayed three nights and found everything we would need provided as if the owner has really thought out what guests would require for an enjoyable stay. It poured all day one of the days we were there but still enjoyed ourselves drinking coffee with a roaring fire on the porch overlooking the river. There were no neighbors within sight, and there were several restaurants within a close drive. The cabin is a little dark on the inside (low lighting) but our eyes adjusted and it added to the warm and comfortable feeling along with the impressive cast iron propane fire and abundance of candles. So many of the cabins I see are decorated with an overdone country/bear theme while Joann's simple early Americana decor was spot on. Joann was very responsive as a host and we are so grateful she shared her beautiful home with us!

Simply Amazing
I've been waiting to write this review, I think, because I didn't want to believe our stay was over :) Joann's cabin was a perfect place to spend our summer vacation. We are veterans of VRBO and we know that sometimes reality falls short of photos - not this time. We were blown away by the beauty of the property and the care Joann has taken in hospitality. We enjoyed every minute, which is saying a lot since we didn't really venture out into the area as much as we would have in normal, non-COVID circumstances. We went for groceries, and once for peach picking and a drive down the Blue Ridge parkway, but the yard and the river and the porch and the backporch/firepit - it was just perfect. We loved the fireflies, and we even got to see a bald eagle! I can't compliment this place enough, and Joann was so kind and responsive. We loved it.

We had a wonderfully relaxing stay at Cabin Solitude! Joann couldn’t have been a better hostess! The cabin is in a peaceful little cove overlooking the river. It’s private, but not remote. It’s beautifully and comfortably furnished. We were fortunate enough to catch a few higher than average temperature days, so we were able to open the windows and hear the river. The outdoor fireplace is a plus, so even if you don’t experience warm days you can still enjoy the great outdoors. We fished a little and then enjoyed a long soak in the huge claw foot tub! A charcoal and electric infrared grill are provided, so we stopped at the Allegheny Meat Market on Hwy 21 to buy steaks and ground beef for burgers. The steaks were so good, we went back for more! Thank you, Joann for everything! We hope to visit again soon!

Relaxing getaway
This place is very private and I highly recommend it for a romantic/relaxing getaway. The house was built parallel to the river so there are views from the front and back porch. Plenty of soft linens provided. If you plan on cooking I would recommend bringing some cooking oil and a few cords of firewood to enjoy the back porch. I also recommend bringing a trash bag or two. Joann has a lovely home and we hope to stay again next year. Thank you for one of the most amazing weekends we have had in a long time. xoxo Lisa

Perfect location

This property is wonderful, as is the property hostess! We had such a perfect weekend....our 2 teenagers loved it as well. Kayaking, archery, playing cards, napping in the hammock, painting, playing piano, making smores, drinking coffee on the lovely porch....cannot imagine a better place to spend time with family. Solitude is everything Joann promises
If you are looking for a mountain retreat to connect with nature and stay in a very unique and tastefully decorated cabin, Solitude fits the bill. This was our first vrbo experience and it was a very positive one. Everything about the cabin is well thought out to enhance the visitor's experience of simplicity, nature and solitude.

A beautiful little cabin on the Little River.
Great location. So private and quiet. Open the windows and enjoy the sounds of the birds and the river. The square footage sounds low but there is really an abundance of livable space. The cabin has much to offer, all you need to bring is something to eat and your clothes. We’ll definitely be back. This place is a gem.

Picture perfect cabin! Very secluded!
Our "top of the list" cabin stay! We finally found our favorite cabin! Beautiful! We left the windows open at night (in May) and loved being lulled to sleep by the mountain stream. My husband enjoyed wading in the stream to catch fish. I was content to sit in the cabin overlooking the stream and write music with my keyboard :) Overabundance of amenities! Plenty of kitchen supplies. Husband enjoyed the Keurig and coffee assortments. We felt VERY secluded and LOVED IT!! Enjoyed watching the nearby deer family of four pass by us on the driveway to enter field behind the cabin. Wow! Extra treat to sit out on backporch and roast marshmallows for smores...Joann even had roasting sticks for the smores! Thanks Joann for a wonderful stay!

Solitude is perfect in every way!
This charming cabin was the perfect choice for our family weekend. The owner, Joann, is so easy to work with, amazingly thoughtful and has this beautiful cabin loaded with so many amenities! Solitude is sparkingly clean, tastefully decorated and ideally located....exactly as described! The Little River is just a few feet away, and was perfect for our family's day of fishing, skipping rocks and reading by the banks. The clawfoot tub, the outdoor fireplace, the charming porch, the hammock....its hard to choose which was my favorite spot! We will definitely be booking this magical place again.

Beautful North Carolina Cabin
My husband I stayed at the ‘Blue Ridge Mountain Solitude Cabin’ May 20-23. The setting is gorgeous, with the Little River just down the hill. Unfortunately we stayed during mostly heavy rains and chilly weather so we weren’t able to be outside much. The wonderful rock patio with its fireplace is covered and cozy and we built a fire and had a glass of wine out there while listening to the relaxing sound of the water. Joann is wonderful to work with, went out of her way for us under some special circumstances and left a personalized welcome and a bottle of wine for my husband and myself. The cabin is so charming with a rustic feel. I loved the adorable kitchen and the view out the many large windows. One evening I was able to take a soak in the claw foot tub, which came with bath salts and scented soap….it was perfection! Joann has created a cabin that invokes peace and tranquility. I thank her for sharing that with us.

Relaxing Getaway!
We rented the cabin for a relaxing getaway with friends. I can't express how happy we were with our stay at Solitude! The cabin is completely private and absolutely beautiful! All the small details were very impressive. We hope to return next year!

Total Relaxation
My wife and I loved the solitude of this cabin. When we first saw the cabin and the surrounding river we new we found the place we wanted to be to spend our weekend together. The outside fireplace was a real bonus and we stayed warm while enjoying a nice glass of wine and talking. If solitude is what your looking for you found it with this cabin.

Perfection!
My husband and I have stayed in many cabins throughout NC and TN. This was the most perfect place we've ever stayed. No other buildings or people in sight, easy access to a river where we caught many rainbow trout that were really good sized. The water quality in the cabin was great, many places we've stayed had funky water but not here! Wifi came in handy to catch a couple baseball games online. We walked up and down the river and saw lots of animals and birds, even a couple curious thirsty cows from a nearby farm. Absolutely wonderful! We will be staying here many more times!
