This is one of the best hotels we've stayed at *ever*. Boutique hotels are generally very good because of the attention from the proprietors or managers. But this was a big step up.
Every person on staff was exceptional. The morning we arrived off a cruise there were no rooms available, but we wanted to go to Winchester anyway. Joe was staffing the front desk that morning, and gave us – a group of six – an area to out our luggage. He arranged for two cabs to pick us up, and meanwhile brought us cappuccinos.
When we returned, our luggage was in our rooms – thankfully, because there's no lift – and he had turned the air conditioning on already.
The hotel is an old warehouse converted into a hotel and the restaurant of the same name. Rooms go by names, not numbers: Venus, Bacchus, Minerva, etc. Every room was unique and charming, and up to date with amenities. The bathrooms were very modern and even had heated towel racks. The free wifi was very strong.
The lobby area and bar is quaint and pleasant. We had nice conversations with other guests.
The restaurant is fabulous. We had the best hollandaise sauce on our eggs *ever*. Dinner was wonderful, with a nice menu selection of food and wines. The wait staff was exceptional.
I wish that I had noted the names of every staff member who made our stay so delightful, but didn't, so just want to say THANK YOU to every one of them who made our stay so marvelous. Every one of them deserve the highest praise.
