The overall property was reasonable and the rooms were comfortable, if small. The toilet and shower facilities were clean. However, there were some major issues: (1) There was no cook and hence no hot food available. Also no food on a Sunday evening in the close vicinity. (2) There was a leak in a sewer waste pipe which was dripping in the restaurant area but it was not closed off. (3) Although the rooms were generally clean there was a brown smear under the handle in one room. Also a kettle in a room was brown inside and not in a fit state for use. (4) There were no lounging facilities outside of the hours that staff were on duty. (5) There was no staff on site overnight and no emergency contact in case of an incident.

Room was small but it was a good price and had everything it needed to have. Only issue was the location of the room meant the free WiFi didn’t work, but other than that it was a lovely place to stay.

Very disappointing hotel, felt like it was all too much trouble for the staff, especially at breakfast. Only continental breakfast don't recall seeing this at the time of booking. Had to ask for fresh pillow case as tge in the room was dirty. Very noisy room

Bad Wi-Fi bad nights sleep
Wi-Fi was only available in the bar. No Wi-Fi at all from room 12. Asked to be moved where there was signal (had a lot of work to do) but unable to help. Booked 3 nights but left after 2. Terrible nights sleep with the sound of HGVs passing by all night. Bed was comfy and room was clean. But won’t be staying again. I did like the Inns history provided in the welcome book.

Stayed for one night for business. Really good location to where I needed to be and very fairly priced. The lady who runs it was so helpful and very attentive. The room was basic but perfect for what I needed and the bed was clean and comfortable.

Disappointing nights sleep but lovely staff & food
Staff were lovely and very welcoming. Hotel was clean and presented nicely. Food was great. However the beds in the family room were extremely uncomfortable. The bunk bed made so much noise it was impossible to sleep on resulting on us having to move the kids matresses onto the floor. The mattresses were veey lumpy and bumpy and had to double over the duvet to try and help (luckily we had blankets we brung for the kids to stay warm). The walls are paper thin and can every single noise. Not nice when you're next to a room with loud swearing people next door. Could also here every foot step up and down the stairs in the corrider. Some soundproofing and new beds are definitely needed. Definitely not worth the money paid for an awful nights sleep which was a shame as we was due to go longleat the next day and had very tired and miraerble kids who usually sleep well in hotels we've stayed in before.

Comfortable and clean 2 night stay. Nice layout of a dining area and great Pea and spinach burger! Would recommend. Staff very accommodating.

Lovely place, nicely decorated internally but in need of work outside. Smallest double bed ever but room clean and all staff very friendly and courteous.

I had the cheapest room, so have to take this into account. However, the free wifi was very limited in the room, about a 50% chance of getting connectivity, and constantly dropping out. The room was small (the small table had a small foot stool type chair, not a proper chair as there wasn't enough room). The staff were excellent and friendly, however the hotel is a bit run down by modern standards. OK for the price.

No Breakfast and not recommended!
Its the type of building you hope you are not staying in when you drive up to it as it is very run down and filthy. Beds are very uncomfortable and squeak all night. Breakfast is advertised as 7.30 but no one showed up on the first day until 8am and then on the Monday no one showed up at all so we had no breakfast! When I called the emergency contact it went to voice mail and they never replied to my message I left. Also I emailed them about the breakfast issue and no one replied.

The room odour was very unwelcoming - alike a drain smell. The coffee sachet was solid and when opened was unpleasant and unusable. The TV remote did not work. We requested replacement batteries but it still did not work. A very disappointing stay

Very clean, good condition, onsite Restaurant.
Very clean. Great that there is a restaurant onsite with Vegan, Vegetarian, and some gluten and lactose free options available. Good service. All facilities in the room worked well, however, the shower could do with more water pressure. We were permitted to check out at 11am, however, a window cleaner appeared at our window unexpectedly around 10:30ish(our room was on the 1st floor) Nevertheless, we would visit again.

POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE
Despite at booking requesting a good wifi signal in my room and the hotel Website stating free wifi in every room this was not true. Tackled the manager about this and she came up with some excuse about work being done and this could effect the signal. Rubbish no work obviously being done and she should state on the website that wifi is not guaranteed in every room. Manager attitude not good. Won’t recommend it and won’t use it again

Everyone at the B&B were very friendly and made us feel so welcome. The room we had was quiet, comfortable and very clean. We decided to have dinner at the well inn and we were pleased we did. The service was excellent and the was food, delicious. Continental breakfast was included, this was very generous and had everything we wanted. We will definitely be back - thank you for a wonderful stay

A bit of background: we exhibit at the antiques fair in Shepton Mallet and visit every few months for two nights. We first stayed at the Well Inn in September when we had a very nice room on the 2nd floor; only problem was that it was very hot then, the window has restrictions and hardly opens- and the room faces the main road - so for our next visit we requested a room at the back of the hotel. Imagine our shock when we were shown room 9 which was basically a glorified single. We paid extra for a larger room and were shown room 12, right at the end of the corridor on the first floor. Here the real problems started. After using the toilet I naturally wanted to wash my hands. There was no hot water in the basin - or in the shower! Also the temperature regulator in the shower was broken and hardly turned. On going down to the bar I was told that the chef would check the boiler. He did so and said it should work. But it didn’t. So he went and did something else but again it didn’t work. We had been up since 2:00 am (work trip) and were exhausted so didn’t go downstairs to complain again. We did complain the next morning to Josh, the talented chef who seemed to have to turn his hand to non kitchen related problems, and he promised to call a plumber. On our return to the Well Inn that evening Josh said he couldn’t get a plumber but an electrician had been to fix the boiler. Hah! Still no hot water. Rating did not reflect reality.
When we arrived the radiator in the bathroom where you hang the hand towel was not cleaned. I had to use my antiseptic wipes to clean the rails first before hanging the hand towels. The drawers were dusty. I had to wipe them before we could put our things in. There were 4 hangers in the wardrobe. I asked for more and I was told by the bar lady that they didn’t have anymore. She suggested to buy hangers if I want more. Ridiculous! I did buy more hangers. The other window could not be closed properly so it was very noisy as our room is next to the main road A37. This window’s glazing is thinner than the other one. We reported it and the next day, the maintenance officer came whilst we were out to close it and we were told not to open it. It depends who serves breakfast, you get a cup with a saucer some days and a cup only some other days. The milk container were not washed properly. There were slightly brownish stuff inside. This happened a couple of times. I scraped it with the teaspoon. Mind you the kitchen hygiene is rated 4. We just did not complain about it whilst we were there. The staff were pleasant though and the housekeeper must be trustworthy as I forgot to lock my suitcase where I kept the rest of our money and my jewellery (on 24/09/21). Nothing was missing. Well the fact that it is by the main road there will be some noise. We didn’t realise on booking. We just use earplugs during our sleep. It said outside fine dining, it’s absolutely not!

Stayed at The Well Inn for three nights whilst working with a colleague. There was a mix up with the rooms which was resolved with an upgraded room. The service was excellent and was a great short stay!.

Our stay was dreadful, 1. My mother was coeliac and a diabetic and you said you could offer breakfast. No gluten free bread. And did not advise us that you closed at 5pm for dinner so then I needed to drive into town to get a reservation to eat. 2. Cleanliness of the room was dreadful, bathroom hadn’t been cleaned hair around the taps. 3. My mother fell in the shower, no no slip matting in the shower, and no shower gel to wash your hands. 4. Room was boiling, no fan could be provided. Bed was bottomed out. And the duvet was a 13.5 tog. 5.

Terrible check in experience! Booked hotel several months before, 2 rooms, one for my wife and I and one for my friend and his wife. On arrival only our room had been allocated! After a few minutes it was decided we could have a room for our friends but only because a man who rang earlier in the day hadn’t confirmed!!! We were then asked for payment for both rooms and I had to show the receptionist my confirmation e mail as proof we had paid online. She apologised and explained that a new operating system had been installed and this had messed up bookings. Finally got in to our rooms and although our friends were allocated a tiny room which certainly wasn’t what they expected, the accommodation was clean and just about satisfactory. We had dinner there and were served drinks in glasses with lipstick marks on sides. Not good! Sadly, this and the check-in issue were what we will remember our stay by and I hope the Well Inn can correct both as there are a lot of positive points.

The outside is very deceiving looks very run down however once inside it was very up to date. The room was clean and comfortable, although the bed was a small double. We ate in the restaurant in the evening, the menu chose was good and the food lovely. Breakfast was cooked to order with a good choose. Overall the stay was very good.

We stayed over a very busy bank holiday weekend for three nights and other than a bit of traffic noise that obviously wasn’t the Well Inns fault... We had a lovely time as everything is so accessible for Somerset and Dorset it’s location is excellent.. Now for the staff they are all absolutely brilliant as they just do everything so well.. We express our thanks to them for the whole crew being so nice x
