Las Cinco Palmeras is a lovely detached house in the heart of the Axarquia countryside. Situated between the pretty villages of Sedella and Salares, in a peaceful but not isolated situation, the house is the perfect place to come and relax with friends or family. We have a beautiful saltwater pool which can be seasonally heated (chargeable) to provide year round use. Here there is very little light pollution, so at night the stars are amazing. The house is well furnished, very comfortable and comes with a good wi-fi connection and dedicated space for home working. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering with an electric induction hob, oven, dishwasher, microwave, slow cooker, a capsule coffee machine and plenty of crockery, cutlery and glasses. The garden is planted with a variety of shrubs and fruit trees, including a lemon, two limes, a mandarin and an orange; and of course we have the magnificent Washingtonia palms which the house is named after. There are plenty of spaces outdoors to relax in the shade, or in the sun. We love enjoying a sundowner on the Lookout, watching the light gradually fading and turning the mountain and hilltops pink. There are wonderful views of Mount Maroma, the highest mountain in the Axarquia from the pool and terrace. We are a 5 minute drive or a 30 minute walk from the pretty village of Sedella, where you can find a restaurant, two bars and a small shop. A little further away you will find the villages of Salares and Archez, each with a local bar/restaurant. Competa is around 20 minutes drive. Here you will find a variety of shops, bars and restaurants, a number of small supermarkets, ATM's and a regular Saturday market. The nearest beach is 40 minutes away at Torre Del Mar. Malaga is only a 50 minute drive and a wonderful, very walkable city to explore.
There are plenty of hiking trails close to the house, including the Sendero El Saltillo, with a spectacular hanging bridge, or the Sendero Puente Arabe, a circular route starting in Salares. You can book a tour of the winery and sample the local wines made from ancient vines at Bodega Bentomiz, and enjoy a gourmet meal in their restaurant.
If you are planning a stay between October & May we can provide pool heating for €10 per day. If you require this service please notify us at least 3 days before arrival as in the winter it can take 48 hours to bring the pool to temperature.
