« Fantastic location. Ideal for what we needed but also really rural-feeling and peaceful. We found it quiet and charming. We enjoyed wandering in amongst the old orchard and down through the copse, across the scrubland that forms part of the floodplain of the Tyne. It was good to know there are badgers around although we weren’t lucky enough to see anyway. The dawn chorus was impressive. Very pleasant indeed. Definitely will book again if we’re back in the area. »

« L'accueil dans cet hôtel qui fait aussi pub et restaurant est très chaleureux. Les chambres sont assez spacieuse et la literie confortable, même si cela semble un peu vieillot...(c'est peu être à la mode en Angleterre..?) Toutefois, pour ce tarif on y est bien mieux que dans une chaine d'hôtel style F1... Bref pour un séjour sans se ruiner sur Durham et sa région, je recommande vivement cet hôtel ! »

« A good place to have as a base to explore the area. Comfortable especially the double bed, and had everything you may need. It's not luxurious but very practical, good for the dog as long as they can get upstairs.The only down side is the proximity to the road although that was only busy at peak times. Very kind of the local pub to allow parking.It served us well while visiting family in Walls end. »

« Nice views of harbour from front windows. House had a musty smell and was showing its age. Bit of water damage one the ceiling of one of the bedrooms was a bit off putting. Owner was helpful with questions. »

« A lovely property in an easy to access rural location - let down by a lack of care… not particularly clean, no communication, not even a tea bag or any soap in the bathroom. A few small changes would make a big difference. »

« Great location however the house was not clean on arrival despite owner stating it had been cleaned. I needed to clean sour milk which was throughout the fridge. There was lots of mould and damp spots in the bedrooms, bathroom and kitchen. Water was leaking through the ceiling in the kitchen and damaged our food.Owner advised he was trying to patch up the kitchen roof.Unable to use shower as this also leaked into kicheb. Owner suggested i just dry up the leaks and they should "stop...
