« We had a comfortable overnight stay (very comfortable bed!). Having been to a wedding reception that day, we didn’t want much to eat, but found just what we wanted, even though the menu is not extensive. The food was good and the fish and chips are obviously a popular choice, and looked delicious. Breakfast was good. Staff very helpful and friendly. »

« Positive: Clean room and comfortable bed Very good breakfasts Negative: No hot water for the whole 5 days I was there, though promised each day. Shower attachment broken so a (cold) shower was only possible by holding the shower head. The stand of one of the fans was broken The wifi in the room did not work Evening meals were not available as stated on the website - MUCH more limited menu than on their website and not available on all the evenings stated. « Neil and his team were perfect hosts. Our room was spacious and comfortable and spotlessly clean. The meticulous attention to detail, wonderful breakfasts and very friendly and helpful hosts made our stay memorable. Thank you all. Michael and Linda »

« Very enjoyable stay. Excellent staff led by John the general manager, whose welcome is friendly and genuine. Top marks. Room comfortable if slightly very cramped . Excellent breakfast that used fine local ingredients. Dinner was good too, but a few of the dishes just need a little more finesse to make the Michelin guide. Overall, strongly recommended thanks to John and his team. »

« Great location, comfortable room and really nice breakfast »

« Chambres immenses et confortables. Très bon petit-déjeuner. »

« Great hotel and restaurant »

« Hotel très plaisant, restaurant avec des plats variés, pub avec un large choix de bierres. Accueil très sympathique. »

« Bâtiment typique, avec pub. Les repas et les petits-déjeuners sont très bien (qualité et quantité). Le patron est extra, de bon conseil. Bonne ambiance générale. »

« Serviced Room rather than a hotel but no problem in finding it and gaining access! Excellent for comfort and cleanliness with good shower! »

« Sejour inoubliable. Le decors est ancien et constitue le charme de l'hotel. Lieu perdu au fin fond de l'Essex où reigne l'harmonie. La beauté du paysage est à couper le souffle. Des repas digne d'un chef... A refaire sans la moindre hésitation... »
