Relaxing Riverside Stay w HotTub

Welcome to our thoughtfully designed River Home on a safe, quiet, private drive on the highly desired Rock River. Get ready to enjoy indoor-outdoor living at its finest. This pet and family-friendly space features a 6-person hot tub, furnished riverfront deck, game room w/ pool and darts, fire pit, and an ensuite-covered second-floor patio. Although this home is secluded, you're only 10 minutes from Anderson Japanese Gardens, SportsCore 1, and multiple fine dining options in downtown Rockford.

The Space:

Our beautiful river home has a fully equipped kitchen with everything you may need to cook from home and a new Keurig coffee maker. (We provide the coffee tabs.) Although this home is on a secluded road, it has fast enough wifi for the kids to stay connected and for adults to get some extra work done if need be. There are two smart TVs with ROKU (bring your own logins) and a top-of-the-line Sonos speaker. There are two full bathrooms that each include a shower. The upstairs bathroom does not have a door. Instead, we have a blackout curtain to provide ample privacy. This home has three bedrooms: one with a queen bed, one with a king bed and a pull-out day bed, and one with a full bed. The second bedroom upstairs is a walk-through bedroom through the master, with no door. Our couch on the first floor doubles as a sleeper sofa and pulls out to a queen bed. Enjoy unmatched views of the Rock River in front of a peaceful no-wake zone from our brand-new comfortable outdoor furniture. We also have a new grill and firepit that guests can access. We provide propane, but guests will be in charge of bringing their own firewood. Every piece of furniture in this home is brand new as of September 2023.

Guest access:

Guests will have access to 4 parking spots, two in our driveway and two directly across the street where we have overflow parking. The road, Country Club Beach, is very narrow, so please don’t park on the street. If you plan to bring more than four cars, please contact me ahead of time, and we will figure out an alternate parking solution. Guests will have direct access to the river from our floating dock. This dock is home-made, not built by a professional, so please use it at your own risk. Guests will have complete and private access to everything within the home and in our fenced in yard during their stay except for the garage which is being used for storage.

Not quite as pictured

The location of this property is absolutely unbeatable—right on the Rock River, tucked into a peaceful spot that still feels close to everything. The views were beautiful, and the setting felt calm and relaxing. The beds were surprisingly comfortable, and both the kitchen and bathrooms were spotless, which we really appreciated.Unfortunately, the rest of the home didn’t live up to expectations, especially for the price. The carpets were badly stained and the outdoor space—one of the features that drew us to the listing—was disappointing. The hot tub was covered with plywood and gave off a strong odor, the outdoor furniture was worn and the cushions were stained and/or moldy, and there was a fallen tree in the backyard that had taken out part of a safety fence.We understand that no place is perfect, but many of these issues felt like they had been neglected for some time. With a little more attention to maintenance and a refresh of the outdoor area, this could be a really lovely stay. As it stands now, it didn’t quite meet our expectations.

This property is a great location right on the Rock River however, the beautiful view was blocked by weeds, dead trees and weed trees. The lawn needed mowing. The grill was falling apart. The carpet on the inside was stained and the upstairs smelled like cat urine. There were no doors on the bedrooms hence no privacy. The shower head downstairs was clogged so barely any water came out of it. The kitchen was not equiped very well and the cabinets were VERY difficult to open.

I am a longtime VRBO customer and have always appreciated the truthful reviews of my fellow travelers. This home could be wonderful, but it is terribly worn and tired. The carpets are filthy, to the point I could not walk on them without shoes. The fabric on the couch was so stained, we didn't sit on it. The chairs outside by the firepit are wobbly and worn - we had to be extremely cautious to slowly sit in them so they wouldn't collapse. The couches out on the very worn deck on the side of the river were also filthy. That said, the house had been cleaned, so the counters and bathrooms were clean. The upstairs bathroom only has one shower door, so the water pours onto the floor when you shower. I had to put towels down to prevent a mess. When we arrived in the evening, the smart lock on the door was not functioning - it was a miracle we got in. It was 2 more days until we could leave the house and lock the house when we departed - those days were spent entering and exiting through a sliding glass door with no lock capability. This house could be lovely. The river is so pretty, and the street is quiet and isolated - it could be a hidden gem, but unfortunately, it has seen years of neglect. The walls are dirty and scuffed, and every molding is dented and chipped. It is advertised as pet-friendly, however, there are several rat boxes (assuming with poison) in the backyard. For the amount I spent, I feel that I was taken advantage of. This is a party house at best.

Great place to relax after work

Amazing house with an amazing hot tub on an amazing location on the river. I stayed with a colleague for a business trip bc all the hotels in the area were booked and it was much better than any hotel. It’s a quiet neighborhood and was such a nice break from the work day.
