This place was perfect for our group of 3. The location was wonderful. It was very spacious and accommodating. We had plenty of room to move around and had a lot of amenities. Highly recommended.
The Good:
*King Size bed (the main reason we booked this property) was incredibly comfortable.
*Location is easy to get to.
*Living room furniture is comfy.
*Well-equipped kitchen with plenty of lighting.
*Nice deck for soaking up the sun.
The Bad:
*The main living area is located up a set of stairs located outside. If you have trouble with steps, this is not the place for you.
*The king bed is upstairs in a loft, so if you want the comfy bed, plan on bringing extra nightlights for safely navigating the steep stairs at night.
*When we booked the room, cable was listed as an amenity. When we arrived, the TV didn't work and even if it had, cable was no longer offered. Watching the season-opening football game was important to us, and when I emailed Vacasa about the TV not working, I did not receive a reply.
*The outside garbage can was full when we arrived.
*Several outlets didn't work, including one in the bathroom.
*There were clothes hanging in the closet that had been left behind by previous guests.
The Ugly:
*There was dried toothpaste on the bathroom counter and dried food on the kitchen counter, which makes me think they were never wiped down and certainly didn't receive any "additional COVID cleaning" since the basics hadn't been covered.
*I know the house is near the beach, but there was so much sand on the floor, along with food crumbs, I had to assume no one mopped the floor after the previous guests checked out.
*The house is pet-friendly, but unless the pet is a wooly mammoth with mange, more cleaning needs to be done between guests. There was fur everywhere - on the floor, the furniture, floating in the air. Even pulling out a chair at the dining room table unearthed more clumps of it.
Overall - the property is nice and has great potential, just needs some maintenance and a far better job of cleaning.
The home has promised much more than it delivered.
Pictures made it look new and more specious. It lack restrooms and the the first floor with its tiny bath/restroom is only accessible from by going outside, which is not fun when it rains or cold...
We rented a 3 bedroom 2 bath home. When we arrived the downstairs bathroom was locked and had a sign on the door stating that it was out of commission. The entire downstairs smelled strongly of drain cleaner. No one contacted us about this failure or tried to fix it during our four night stay. Iâve reached out to Bacasa but still havenât heard back two weeks later. There appears to be a breakdown in accountability and management with this company. We wonât be renting through Vacasa again.
The space itself was fine - quaint and log-cabinish. Beds were comfortable, kitchen well supplied with pots and pans, etc. There were plenty of towels, etc. However, when we got there, the lower level hadnât been cleaned. We didnât end up using any of the beds down there because I donât go on vacation to clean up other peopleâs crap. So my son spent the nights on the couch, which wasnât ideal. The downstairs bedroom is sectioned off from the rest of the house - we knew that. But half the sleeping space is downstairs, not just one bedroom, which is what the online posting led us to believe. We finally did end up using the bathroom downstairs because six people in one bathroom was too much. Also, the outside garbage can was already full so we didnât have anywhere to put our trash. That was annoying. The âbeach accessâ advertised is actually a path that starts a few doors down and goes down to a jetty with a crappy beach and no access to open ocean. Another thing we didnât love was that the only king sized bed is upstairs in the loft. The only bedroom with a door had a queen/full size bed. That seems backwards. And there is no closing off the upstairs. If you want to put the kids to bed and then relax downstairs with a movie, it keeps the kids awake. This wasnât a big deal for us, but if Iâd had littles, it would have been hugely inconvenient. The last thing that was a disappointment was that online it said there was a telescope up in the loft. My kids were quite looking forward to using it, but it wasnât there. I donât think I would go back to this particular space, but I would recommend it for people who have two small groups going to the same place.
So the location was great and the place was actually clean. It was cozy. My issue was with the fleas on the top floor in the room with the King Size bed. At the end of the third night we realized what they were. Our last night we down to the basement. The bed while comfortable was not big enough for two of us. One of us had to move to the bunk bed that is no more that a thin mattress on metal only because the pull out couch/bed had a big bar in the middle. Thank god our dog takes flea medicine. How ever we were so worried that they were bed bugs it really ruined our birthday vacation. We spent hours cleaning our stuff, not able to bring inside our homes because of fear of flea infestation. The house would have been great except the fleas and the comfort of the Auxiliary beds.
This property is in a great location. Roughly 15 minutes from Tillamook, 3 minutes from downtown Rockaway beach, 30-45 min from Cannon Beach, 45 minutes from lighthouse and Octopus tree (nice walk this park). The house has one closed out bedroom on main floor with additional bed in open upper den area. Very comfortable bed. Downstairs apartment. This lower apt. was very musty. The house needed a better deep clean. Smelled liked an old cabin and dusty. Wanted to use pans and skillet they had, but greasyyyyy. Felt like I had to clean and start from there. I had taken extra pans due to this common experience. Pots/pans okay other than needing a cleaning (no stainless steel) rest of kitchen supplies great (glasses, coffee cups, plates ). Dishwasher and indoor washer dryer combo. Short walk to beach. Small piece of ocean visible. Dog friendly :-)
Tired property, not suitable for families as only 1 of the three bedrooms has privacy (a room with a closing door and a closet) and one room is on a basement floor NOT connected to the rest of the unit. The only access from the lower bedroom is to go outside and up the exterior stairs to the front door. Beds are uncomfortable and worn out, with no support, the one actual bedroom smells like vomit, the downstairs separate bedroom smells strongly of mold and mildew. Furniture is worn and not comfortable, kitchen doesn't even have a fry pan.
Photos of the unit are Photoshopped to look very cozy and appealing. This is a cozy space, it just needs a complete refresh, and the description needs to be made accurate. Photos and description together present a very deceptive picture.
Also, while you can see the rock-walled jetty from the back porch (the hero image for the listing) this is NOT the beach. The beach is actually a mile away and can only be accessed by the roads going through through a state campground.
I WOULD NOT recommend this unit, especially to families.
Also, we sent our issues in an email to the rental agency and they only responded to our negative response to being asked to launder the towels and wash the dishes before vacating the property.
The location was good, the beach was fantastic. My gripes come form the dated age of the property, the main bed was good, but the others were worthless for comfort, as were the pillows. It was really a culmination of small things, such as the rail on the entry stairs was rotting to the touch.
I just think for that money you should get better.
Nice place, the downstairs was a little sparse but it was cozy and had room for plenty of people. We went crabbing of the pier and got some local oysters.
Our family had a great time. For the things we wanted to do the location was great. Kids enjoyed everything, balconies were great! But maybe post trash schedule so can get garbage emptied.
Charming knotty pine throughout. Peek-a-boo view of the water. Sleeps four fishing buddies in separate rooms. Needs some TLC. Upstairs room door won't close. Garbage can full when we arrived. Overall more than adequate for four guys on a fishing trip. Good value.
The previous reviews were right on point. The dishwasher was broken, the downstairs wasn't clean, the light bulb down there was out just like another reviewer said. The battery in the smoke detecter was burned out and it was beeping and there were cobwebs everywhere. There was no laundry detergent, one of the beds had no sheets on it and there were not really any extra blankets. The door to the upstairs balcony opens but doesn't close. Not to mention, it may sleep several people but the commons space is very small and there is no where to seat people for meals. I have never reviewed one of the places I have rented, but I couldn't stop myself this time.
When I rent a vacation home, I try to keep an open mind. Kitschy or funky or old-fashioned- it all works for me! I realize Iâm staying in someone elseâs home and settle in to enjoy the unique ambiance of a place that isnât mine.
But I do expect to be able to be on vacation. I expect everything to be as advertised. And this house was very disappointing. I had my first inkling when it took 20 minutes to get one of the lock boxes open!
On the plus side, the neighborhood was quiet, with a âconvenienceâ store at the end of the street for the essentials that we forgot. The teenagers in our group loved the separate downstairs living quarters, complete with bathroom, TV and plenty of beds. We never ran out of hot water and the kitchen supplied almost everything we needed for cooking (but it is a one person kitchen!). The wood walls were lovely and there was plenty of room for everyone. A quick walk brought you to the jetty area, and a 10 minute walk brought you to a very nice beach through the county park
The negatives, however, were VERY frustrating and annoying. The bed was unmade and we had to hunt down sheets in the not-very-organized cupboards. There was exactly one light bulb in the downstairs âcaveâ and we had to scrounge for other bulbs so that the kids could see. Lights in other rooms either didnât work or needed bulbs as well. The dishwasher didnât work, and the cable TV had only 5 channels, 3 of which didnât come in clearly. We couldnât stream Netflix through the TVs. The BBQ was almost completely rusted through and the grate was pretty much unusable. Worst of all, the upstairs screen door was torn off the hinges and left on the deck and the main door upstairs was so warped it wouldnât close. It was a stormy weekend and every time the wind blew, it blew the door open, allowing rain and cold wind to stream in, which was particularly distressing as one of the two wall heaters downstairs didnât work. We finally managed to wedge the door shut, but it certainly wasnât secure by any means. The stairs to the main level are pretty steep, and the yard is not kept up at all. Ocean/jetty views from the house were⊠meh.
I wondered when the management company had last been there... if this is how VRBO/Vacasa manages their rental properties, then I will be using another vacation rental company from now on! Pass on this property- stay in Rockaway Beach, but stay in another house!
Although the house was nice and clean, it was much smaller than the pictures made it look. For our 2 families (9 total) we were struggling to find seating for everyone. We were frustrated that the dishwasher did not work. The lighting was poor in the kitchen and living room. There were light bulbs out and some of the lighting did not work. The pots and pans were in bad shape and not very clean. One of the bunkbeds downstairs had sand in the sheets as though it had not been cleaned, thankfully we brought a sleeping bag. The shower downstairs does not adjust very well. It is either very hot or very cold and not much in between. The cable kept glitching and losing signal even though the weather was fine with no wind or snow. All in all we had a good time. The weather was great which allowed us to get outside and enjoy the area. We will rent from VBRO again but not this house.
