Sigh. I don’t even know how to address this. I have text messages that prove otherwise. This is a retaliatory review since Brenda lost a case against us through Vrbo. The listing clearly states there is no TV. There are pictures on the listing that shows the view. The deck did not have flowers because it snowed and the flowers wilted. We don’t place flowers in the cold weather cause they don’t survive in the snow. Brenda asked to stay an extra day while she was with us but we were booked and couldn’t accommodate her. Her text messages clearly indicated she was enjoying the home. Upon checkout Brenda and her guest decided they didn’t have to leave at the checkout time. The cleaner was absolutely there at my home waiting. When I asked her to please checkout she said she was trying. No regard to the rules or that we were paying for the time the cleaners were waiting. Brenda then proceeded to say the coffee pot didn’t work. It did. Brenda decided that because the coffee pot wasn’t working that she didn’t have to pay for her weekend so she of her friend processed a charge back to their credit card. They didn’t pay. Vrbo reviewed the messages that were sent to us and they clearly saw that Brenda was enjoying her stay so they lost the case and I was finally paid. Brenda was very upset and she told me about her upcoming surgery so I told her she could come back one night for free. I don’t have bad reviews and want all my guests to leave with a good experience. It was a gesture because there were many unpleasant messages being sent back and forth. I decided to try and end it on a positive note. Big mistake!! Out of the blue, a strange man I’ve never seen before shows up on my property that’s posted with no trespassing signs and with a car already parked in front of the guest house decides to just walk right in. We could have had guests there at the moment. I’m so thankful we were in the middle of cleaning. I was completely blindsided by this man walking into our guest house on our private property. He didn’t introduce himself. It was pretty alarming. Brenda just assumed that without a phone call or an email or reservation that her partner would just show up and we would accommodate them. Writing a bad review because the porch didn’t have fall flowers in the freezing weather will give people an indication. If any hosts are reading this please proceed with caution. As for Brenda, I wish her well but she is not welcome here.

Hi Faye. You booked a home without a TV. It’s clearly stated in the listing. I offered you to come over and use the one in the main house. The house is certainly not in a remote area as we are 1/2 mile down the road. Please read the listing prior to booking a place. so that all your expectations are met. You never communicated with me at all even when you booked. You showed up early unannounced and you never answered my messages to you. I’m so sorry it didn’t meet your expectations. You could have contacted me or reviewed the pictures before arrival.

Thank you for your review. As this was a same day booking you might not have had the chance to read the description. It very clearly states there is no TV in the home. We removed it seven years ago when families and couples expressed interest in using our place to unwind and reconnect. As you experienced we have amazing WiFi which some use for streaming on their devices. Although 3 Ants is 3 too many, we live in the middle of the woods and it’s mud season in Vermont. We get a few for the first few days after the snow melts. As you can see by my 100’s of reviews on all our booking platforms this is not a regular occurrence. I am so glad I was able to offer you a last minute booking and accommodate your schedule. Thank you for leaving the home so clean. Michele

Hi Andrew. As we live in the middle of the forest there are insects like ants, moths and other bugs outside. The night you arrived there was a lot of rain. That night you were sitting on our deck and you had the flood lights on that were covered (after being advised several times not to) sitting in our leather chair (that you left outside in the rain for the night). while your girlfriend was jumping on the bed with the door wide open. It’s no surprise some ants got in. I’m sorry you had to deal with some ants. If you would have communicated that to me I would have given you a few ant traps for the ants you let in. You didn’t say anything the whole time you were there. Not one person ever had to worry about ants ( the bugs you are talking about) because they observed the house rules and followed our recommendations. We hate having to tell guests to shut the door but living in the country you just have to. I would recommend following the suggestions and house rules of future hosts. They are there to make sure you have the best experience possible. Sorry you didn’t have that as the hundreds of other visitors have.
