One of the best.
We had a lovely experience at Mayo Cottage. We loved every bit of our stay there. I also enjoyed reading about the history of the cottage and it's owners (I highly recommend reading it). The only issue we had was the cottage only had two beds. From what we understood, we were expected three beds, but the downstairs sofa was more than spacious and comfortable enough to have a great nights sleep on. Thank you again for a wonderful vacation, we look forward to staying with you again in the future.

Poor driveway ruined an otherwise beautiful holiday getaway
The cottage was beautiful and the views were stunning. However, we had a situation happen on the second day of our two day stay that really ruined the second day of our vacation there. I feel that this could have been prevented. Going into the mayo cottage, There is a very steep driveway that requires a sharp turn from the highway. We managed to enter the driveway OK although we were not advised that we should be cautious when doing do. I feel this could have been included in the welcome email with the important information. We had rain the first evening and rain the next morning. When we went to head out to Bonavista that second day, our car got stuck in the loose wet gravel on the top of the steep driveway. To make a long story short, we had to get our car towed which cost $200, which we paid ourselves. The money was not the only issue. It literally took me all day to find someone between Bonavista and Clarenville to come and help us. A gentleman from Oceanview towing company did, and he was very helpful. We appreciated him very much, although we were very sorry that we had to spend our second day of our vacation at the mayo cottage waiting for a tow. It was all very stressful, not what we hoped for our holiday. I was nervous on our departure having to exit this driveway. Thankfully, I made it out ,but feel this was an unnecessary amount of stress and expense. My recommendation would be until this driveway is paved at least advise future clientele of this issue.

In seven years of renting and hundreds of guests this is the first such incident at Mayo Cottage. The gravel driveway is raked and tended on a regular basis. The rain was no doubt a contributing factor. Future guests will be advised to use caution when entering and exiting the driveway.

What a place
Really enjoyed our stay in an amazing setting. So peaceful and delightful. Would have no problems in recommending this property to others. Pleas try and get your local Government to fill in the potholes on the local roads!

Excellent location 100% privacy. LOVE IT going back again sooooon.
100% recommended. The place is absolutely CLEAN and everything is provided. The location is perfect and complete privacy (no one around ya) Everything in this vocation house was great. It is going to be our getaway place. Just 3 hours from St.Johns so it is perfect place to rent for staycation. The manager/owner Communication is excellent. she gets back to you within10 minutes as maximum. I’m happy and satisfied with the beautiful experience. COMING BACK AGAIN MAYO COTAGE :)

Stellar vacation rental
Picturesque, immaculate, beautifully appointed, excellent beds, very spacious with a very helpful and friendly owner. We had a memorable night watching the meteor shower from the deck. It is in a fairly remote area so bring groceries. We did not have food with us and had planned to eat out. Drove almost an hour and no restaurants or groceries available. Plan ahead!
