Thanks so much for leaving such a kind review and we are delighted you enjoyed your stay at Illyria - if you’re like us that beauty and peace of the sea will stay with you for some time yet ... As you say, staying at Illyria in the off-season has its advantages!! If you know where to go you can still find good restaurants that are open year round but the island returns to its usual fishing and agricultural rhythm in October, free of the summer tourists, which in itself is a joy to be a part of. Ronald, thanks for your 5* review and the kind comments you left when staying at the house. We are a little confused by your comment on insects and equally why 3 people would sleep on a two person sofa bed downstairs when there are 6 beds upstairs. Irrespective, we do advise guests to not sleep with the wide sea facing doors open when sleeping downstairs - despite the obvious temptation. Like all houses just a hop from the sea, there are various insects that fly around on hot summer nights. If sleeping below, please close the doors to keep insects out - AC in the summer also helps to ensure you are not disturbed and enjoy a comfortable night downstairs.

Thank you Astrid! You’d be most welcome to come back! We’ve had many happy family holidays there and always loved the sound of the sea on our doorstep. The part shaded terrace was especially welcome in the baking summer months when all you want to do is do is chill, read a book and cool off in the sea.

Thanks so much for your kind comments Inga and so glad you enjoyed yourself. Re cushions - over the years we have lost so many cushions to the sea on account of the winds that can pick up on the islands in the afternoon and so - regrettably - we have given them up to the elements.

Thank you for your review and so disappointed to note that your stay only warranted a one star review. We are of course very sorry that you had an electrical fault (unrelated to 2017 I should mention) whilst you were staying at Illyria and pleased that you note that both our property manager and our electrician (who you complimented at the time) sorted you out promptly. I have subsequently met the electrician to discuss the incident who confirms you and your family were not in any danger at any time either before or after his work was done. You concurred with this as I offered you full compensation should you wish to curtail your stay yet you chose to remain, reminding me of the great location and your general enjoyment of the property. We offered a follow up visit by the electrician which you declined. The second incident was unrelated to the first - an electrical storm that swept the area - which affected many houses in the vicinity and which was again remedied swiftly. At the end of your stay you surprisingly demanded most of your rental money back which I understandably declined, instead offering you and paying you handsome compensation for the inconvenience you suffered and you readily accepted. No further incidents have been reported at the property with guests immediately before you and immediately after your stay leaving 5 star reviews on HomeAway. In the circumstances I believe we did all we could to address the matter promptly and professionally.

Hi Javiera - thanks so much for your lovely review and I’m so glad you and your family had a great time at Illyria. As you say you tend to live on the terrace as the views are amazing - we all need to store these memories for winter!! I’ve never been bitten by mosquitos when staying at Illyria but I’m sure they are around all the islands at this time of year and I recall my daughter got a few bites a few years ago. The shop just down the road sells mosquito repellants so you know for next time and I really hope there will be a next time. All the best Steven

We’ve had many happy family holidays there and we always loved being able to jump into the sea, almost directly from the terrace. Postira also has the right balance between having enough to do and being sufficiently chilled and not too crowded.

Jo, what happened to you on the way to Postira? I suspect a call in at cafe Bracera for a glass of something but merely supposition on my part as I can do it in 5 mins sans a call in there. thanks Paul - yes, unfortunately the weather was particularly bad when you visited which is not usual but also not unheard of in mid-April. Still, I'm glad you enjoyed yourself despite being unable to use the very special sea facing terrace - the house has both mobile radiators and reversible AC so hopefully you were not cold even if the tan was put on hold!! I've never in fact done the blue caves so your comments are noted - to all guests, we have a great deal with an excellent local tour company who offer all tours (including blue caves) and airport pick up/drop off. I've negotiated a 15% discount off all their prices - they're trying to do some new tours with a focus on wider Croatian life and food so a bit different to the usual local offering and def worth trying ... I should just add that the public parking is less than 100 meters from our house and in the 13 years we've had the house I've never not found a space so not a concern for those with a car. The old lady is in fact our neighbour Katice - I do get the challenge of a Croatian conversation being not well versed in that regard myself - but as she is also prone to gifting our guests with fresh tomatoes, figs etc she's become a Croatian tourist attraction!!
