We liked the services provided by the staff. All were very helpful from check in to check out. Particular mention should be done for the staff at the Bayleaf Cafe: executive chef Javed, and his assistants Saurav and Suresh. Pranjali and Anima helped us in printing out our plane tickets.

The tall thin light skinned guy at the front desk tried to scam us into inferior rooms even though we paid extra for the bay view rooms. He was racist, rude and kept shouting at my parents and I (we are of Indian origin) until my white husband showed up and then we suddenly had no trouble getting the rooms we paid for. The amount of racism I faced in a hotel in my own home country would have been funny if it did not make me so angry. Also, they have a 'Travel Desk' run by someone called Xavier that charges more than double the rate for car rentals anywhere else in Port Blair. We also ended up getting food poisoning, likely because the kitchen was unsanitary. The rest of the staff (other than ones at the front desk) were sweet and the property was pretty. Definitely not coming back, and I am considering lodging a complaint through the embassy.

Nice stay
Comfortable stay but the property is dated! This is one of the nicer properties in PB ( we stayed in A couple different ones). The water facing rooms are nice but the other rooms are located have open drains right in front. The bar and restaurant area are great, but the menu is selection is a bit limited. Overall a great place to stay in PB, just make sure you book one of the water facing rooms.

The location is great and is the food. I had hot water issues in my room. The rooms are a bit small for itc standards and for the money being charged. But staff is very courteous. Breakfast was good and the dinner buffet was great

Hotel was entirely unprepared to check in guest with reservations, reception area was chaos as groups of people arrived from the ferry. Many people gad to wait 30 minutes just to speak to reception,only to be told "we;re trying to find your reservation." and made to wait another 15 minutes to actually receive a room key.

WARNING: HOTEL UNDER RECONSTRUCTION!
WARNING: HOTEL UNDER RECONSTRUCTION! This text should be clearly shown on all websites advertising this hotel instead of the current hidden notes (which we either did not notice or were not there when we booked). The hotel is undergoing a serious reconstruction which is nowhere near finish and the swimming pool is closed for safety reasons. The main reason why we booked this hotel is its pool which is still advertised by Fortune and its booking agents. We were tricked into booking this hotel by the misleading advertising! We were disappointed but decided to stay in the hotel for the booked 3 nights just because our booking was non-refundable and EUR 125/ INR 9,700 per night is a lot of money to just through out of the window. On a plus note, the staff was friendly and the rooms were quiet and nice(except that we had to move from a standard room to a sea-view room for the very last night because the A/C was leaking into the room). The hotel bar has a great view of the bay but the atmosphere is simply spoiled by the noise from the reconstruction and the workers balancing on a shaky scaffolding just a few meters away. So again, BE WARNED: seriously overpriced rooms for a hotel under reconstruction without a swimming pool! Message to the hotel/booking agents: be more transparent and stop misleading your customers! If a hotel facility is not functional, do not advertise it as one of its main features!Such advertisement qualifies as misleading and is illegal.

Great location, great service, average food
This is probably the best hotel in portblair but currently undergoing serious renovation. More than half the hotel along with the pool is out of access for guests. If you stay in the room in day time, there would also be construction noise that you have to deal with. The hotel is a walkable distance from Cellular Jail. All the above issues are more than overcome by great service that the hotel offers. The only thing that was a big issue for us was the quality of food. The food is just sub-par and you end up paying five-star prices for that. The staff tries hard but I think it is just a skill issue.

The standard was not simply as expected. Bed too hard, couldn't open/close the door to the bathroom when using the toilett, very low water flow in the shower. The floor was sort of floating and we had night guests in terms of cockroach and small lizards.

Pretty bad choice to stay here!! Prefer Seashells.
It started on a bad note..inspite of having booking reference for the 15th of Jan, Fortune refused to put us up. Thats shows a lot for coordination between Expedia and Fortune!! And then on 19th, they issued us a Standard room, inspite of having a reservation for a Deluxe room. Further, the room tariff that i booked for was 9k, offered at a discounted price of 7.5k. I was told that all rooms here are Standard and their rates wr 7.5k...so where ws my discount!! The room allotted ws the most outdated and old...with stinky bathroom and an old tv. Nothing ws right!! We felt cheated..
