Welcome to Lake Haven, our cherished family home nestled in scenic Penhook, a place where family and friends gather and serenity meets. In our retirement, my husband & I decided to take on a massive renovation project. We wanted to create a place for our family and friends to have great times and make fun memories, but then we agreed that we should share it with others so they could enjoy it, too. With a lot of hard labor, long days and nights, and with help from our family and friends aged 2 to 72, we did it! It took two years, but what a labor of love - and well worth it.
At Lake Haven, expect a warm and inviting space for all ages. Fall in love with being outside. Lake Haven is situated on a large, private flat lot, providing easy access to the lake and our newly constructed dock. The flat yard makes playing outside games fun and easy. Soak and relax in the hot tub, roast s'mores over the fire pit, take the kayaks out for a tour of the lake, or sunbathe on the lounge chairs on the upper deck.
The dock is the cherry on top, with plenty of room to relax in the shade or watch the sun rise and set on the water. Take advantage of the coffee maker, blender, and fridge, and enjoy a cup of coffee or a cocktail. Jump off the floating dock or the water trampoline, or throw in your line to see what you catch. And bring your boat - Lumpkin Marina is less than a mile away for food and gas.
Rainy day? No problem. Head inside, where you can get a view of the lake from every room. Head for the game room for some foosball, shuffleboard, or darts. There are also plenty of board and card games to play at the round table, or enjoy the big game on the large-screen TV. If gaming is your thing, check out the Nintendo in the bunk room. Head downstairs and make cocktails at the bar or snuggle up with a good book near one of two fireplaces. With two separate family rooms and two separate gaming/bar areas, there is plenty of room for everyone.
There is a fully stocked kitchen upstairs with double ovens to accommodate all the cooking you want to do for a large group, as well as a kitchenette downstairs for extra fridge space. There is a local grocery and convenience store nearby for minor groceries and seasonal items you may have forgotten. The closest chain grocery stores are Food Lion in Gretna, as well as Kroger and Walmart in Rocky Mount. There are several nearby restaurants as well for dining in or carry-out.
Smith Mountain Lake is nicknamed the "Jewel of the Blue Ridge", with 580 miles of shoreline. It has become one of the most popular recreational lakes in Virginia - a hub for boating, wakeboarding, water/jet skiing, kayaking, and fishing. With mountain views, the changing of the leaves in the fall, and large families gathering for the holidays, any time of the year is a great time to join us for a slice of lakeside paradise at Lake Haven, where every moment is cherished, and memories are made to last.
