« Situated in the very centre of Kelso, convenient place to stay when exploring the area. Checkin was done very easily, with clear instructions sent beforehand. There is a Greggs just in front of the hotel, and also several restaurants and takeaways in close vicinity. There was double glazing in the room, and hence better insulation. »

« Hotel and room were beautiful. Check-in clerk was friendly and welcoming. Location was completely charming, and the breakfast was very good. We were in suite 7, and therein lies the problem. An hour after checking in and prior to leaving for dinner we discovered our TV didn’t work. We mentioned it to the clerk who said she would have a look while we were out to dinner if that was OK with us. We gratefully agreed and left for dinner. « There was no staff on site. I may have misplaced instructions that were sent to me, but I was not prepared for such a deserted arrival. It worked out in the end and it was a convenient place from which to visit surrounding areas of interest. »

« This place is somehow underwhelming, especially in light of how much it costs. The woman cooking dinners was clearly under pressure with orders taken after normal finish time for meals. The rice ran out ...who runs out of rice? Some staff were extremely friendly and organised other quite the opposite. Breakfast was quite shambolic with insufficient tables set for everyone and items continually running out. The options were very poor for such an expensive hotel. Sadly they don't need to...

« Nous avons demandé un thé vers 11:00 pour y accueillir un ami, réponse: “there is no service now”. Puis nous avons demandé pour un entretien avec notre visiteur, au calme car il y avait un match de foot dans le grand salon et beaucoup de bruit, sollicitant de nous mettre dans un salon annexe, réponse: “no that’s not possible”. « A 200 year old pub and inn - interesting ! Unfortunately our room was fairly horrible, we definitely got the hotels.com room : 200 year old mattress, wall view, kitchen vents under the window and lots of noise when we (or the neighbours) ran any water. Food in the evening was good and breakfast ok (very dingy dining room). Everything needs an overhaul. The staff were great though ! »
