The reception and concierge staff were exceptional. The room, which had been upgraded for free, was lovely and the bars and lounges had a great ambiance. There could be more seating around the main bar lounge as this was rather limited. Would definitely stay at the Randolph if visiting Oxford again in the future.

We enjoyed our stay. Condition of hotel and staff were excellent. Only negative ( and it wouldn’t stop us staying again) was quality of food in the Alice. It wasn’t awful but I expected a bit better.

Unfortunately, a serious pattern of mistakes and oversights from hotel staff during our hotel stay. Always had to ask for coffee twice, waited 20 minutes to be seated in an empty restaurant, dietary restrictions forgotten, room requests dropped, etc.

I liked that the staff were friendly. I did feel very spoilt although I didn't know we had to book for the spa or the lounge area. I would have also liked to use the library but I couldn't get in with the card key. The bedroom was plush and the bed was extremely comfy. I slept really well. The shower was easy to use but leaked a little and not so good if you are tall. Everything was clean and to kept to a good standard. I had a lovely stay and would definitely stay again but be aware that I might need to book things in advance. It was also quite a walk to the bedroom which became funny but also a bit of a pain sometimes. Thank you

The service behind the front desk and at the bar is absolutely awful. Other than saskia (who was lovely and such a relief when you saw her working) everyone behind the front desk was so slow and didn’t know what they were doiing. Didn’t tell us any facilities or info such as check out times. The service behind the bar was very slow and hard to get served, especially in the Alice bar. Also trying to get a cup of tea at 10pm took an hour and was incredibly difficult. The rooms were lovely and clean. The cleaners did a lovely job

Service superb let down by building maintenance.
Staff are very attentive , but rooms are dated and paper in our room was peeling off wall with chipped paintwork. Shower is not at a height for any one over 5'10 (as set to low). Beds were extremely comfortable. I've stayed in a few 5 stars and service (apart from restaurant which was slow and set menu sizes were very small) equated to 5 star but decor IMO needs updating and basics that you would expect from 5* such as milk (not UHT) for hot drinks and showers that are adjustable to cater for tall people were not prevalent. STAFF though from reception to housekeeping were excellent.

Wonderful property with courteous staff. The breakfast was also excellent. If I were to point out one issue that really needs improvement for a hotel of this standing, it would be the heating. The room and the attached bath got very cold (as the temperature outside was very low during my stay), and the control seemed broken and would not go up beyond a certain point. Since I was there only briefly and had a busy schedule outside, I did not complain. I used the additional space heater provided (thankfully), which was annoying, and it took up precious space in the already cramped room.

We stayed for a weekend at the Randolph and everything about the hotel was fantastic, it was by far one of the best hotel experiences I've ever had. The staff in partucular were wonderful, professional, everyone was kind and helpful throughout. We decided to do the breakfast and both the atmosphere and food were great, lots of high quality options and it was quiet and relaxed, would definitely recommend. We also did afternoon tea in the late afternoon and I think the main thing to take away is that the Randolph came across as both classy, high end and 5 star, but also has a relaxed and calm social atmosphere. We were never rushed and the staff gave just the right amount of attention, any need they were happy to accommodate. In general I would struggle to find any negative about the stay, it was fantastic.

The decor is amazing and the dining venues are great. The parking is outrageously expensive and the staff seems a little inexperienced, but, overall, it was a brilliant place to stay.

Wonderful hotel. Love the design. Disappointed in The Alice restaurant. Not many GF options and they will only cook a burger well done. Other than that, it was great!

Night away
Staff were very welcoming and friendly on arrival. We used the valet parking and our bags were taken from the car on pulling up. The room was nicely furnished but a couple of slight negatives with the room were it was freezing cold and the AC didn’t really warm it up. The second slight negative was the shower, a nice big cubicle but with only a handheld shower head which didn’t stay in place due to the good water pressure and being 6ft tall, I had to duck down to get under it. An addition of a rainfall shower head would then match up to the star rating. I woukd recommend going for breakfast early if you want hotter food. We went down just before 10 and had cold sausages and bacon and there were no beans or black pudding left. Overall a very enjoyable stay.

Beware

On a whim I stopped in Oxford and selected the Randolph to stay. The property is nicely located, the building is old but quaint and is in excellent condition with modern conveniences. If you want a Downton Abbey vibe this is the place.
