The hotel has been severely neglected. Ripped and mismatched carpet. Closet doors missing. Soaps and lotions were used by previous guests. New flooring was installed in a very sloppy manner. Toilet plunger disgustingly sitting on a plastic Walmart bag. Missing caulking on bathtub. Lights out in room. Paint over wallpaper where something has been pulled off the wall. Light fixtures in hallway either missing or in various stages of replacement. Food trays held one egg and two sausages in the morning. Drink machine broken. Glass missing from inside door, replaced with unfinished piece of plywood. Adjacent seating area, in full view of breakfast area, filled with stacked chairs, trash and laundry. Seating area very dark. Landscaping overgrown. Trash and pallets adjacent to, and outside of, outdoor 4-yard dumpster.

I gave one star because I could not give less. We discovered after our first night that the door to our room did not match and so anyone walking down the hall could push our door open. We reported it to the front desk when leaving for the day on our 2nd day there. We were told that they would have maintenance fix the door or they would givecud a new room. We returned at 8:00 that evening only to discover the door had not been fixed. The evening manager then came to our room to try to fix the door by jiggling the handle and turning the lock manually. When that failed, he finally gave us a new room. Also, the TV in the room did not work. In the new room, we found dust bunnies and paper behind the door, the drawer front was falling off. The blackout curtains were coming off the hooks and did not close properly, and the bed skirt was ripped. While relaxing in the room late in the afternoon, an employee, not housekeeping, attempted to enter the room. Fortunately, I had secured the foorvftom the inside. Run, don’t walk, from this hotel.

We checked out an hour after checking in. Hotel is gross and not well maintained. Hallway reeked of weed. Little of the Expedia listing was accurate when we arrived. There was floating sludge in the pool that was visible from the hallway. Traveling with my little I did not feel safe there.

Terrible first impression
There is no way that this hotel should be rated over a 5. Yes the lobby was pleasant, but the room was musty, the curtains wouldn't close all the way, the toilet was running, We ultilize the 20 minute inspection of the room and check out immediately. They wouldn't wait until I decided to stay and charge my card, and could'nt refund me quickly. Stay at your own risk. You get what you pay for.

Don’t do it to yourself
First impression is that it’s an older hotel.. older hotels come with quirks like a musty smell, some dust, etc. We get to the room and the tv doesn’t work - says it’s not connected or something. Go to the front desk and she says there’s an outage, we go to our concert and come back 7 hours later and it’s still down. We find out the next morning from a different employee that they didn’t pay the bill for the tv service so it was cancelled. We weren’t notified beforehand there would be no tv. We go to breakfast, come back and there is A SNAKE IN OUR ROOM. We left.

I was told I couldn’t have a spare blanket because there was a blanket on each bed, we had 3 guests, sparse on towels made sure each were accounted for, no fridge, couldn’t use indoor pool or hot tub, one trash can with no liner, had main door locked and had to wait in the cold weather for someone to open main doors.

Price was GREAT! Interior was refurbished and room was nice. Breakfast was included and good. Hotel is off the beaten path in a busy area outside Chicago. Overall, a very good deal.

The only like was the location convenience. But there are other motels in the same area as well. Property is ran down motel not very clean. The staff was not very accommodating. Microwave in my room didn’t work ask if it could be replaced they said yes but never did. Asked for clean bed sheets and towels that never happened either. An entry door was being propped open with a stick because the key card reader wasn’t working to unlock it. Wasn’t worth the money I spent to stay there.

Almost everything at the Clarion was great. The long winding driveway to get there was a bit worrisome at first and when we arrived there was a group of young people swearing out front. Other than that, this place was perfect for our 1 night stay.

I had seen some Clarion Inns while traveling and they looked nice. But this place is awful. The lobby smells like mold or something worse. The furnishings are old dirty and have cigarette burns. I think I’ll pass on breakfast here in the morning. Also they had a sign up that said refunds are only reviewed Tuesday-Friday during business hours and I was checking in on Friday night so I didn’t dare ask for a refund and switch hotels. Never again. I don’t know how Choice Hotels continues to allow them to use the Clarion name.

The price was the best part if our stay. The lobby was nice but the rest of the hotel needed work. Carpet was tattered. The only thing to drink at breakfast was coffee, and water. The pool was an indoor/outdoor pool, the divider was down and the water temp was about 60 degrees.

Terrible place to stay. Room 125 has bed bugs so they switched us to another room and that room has fleas. We couldn’t get a refund because they didn’t acknowledge that there was an issue. DO NOT STAY THERE!!!

The door lock did not work on the room we were originally assigned and it took them 20 minutes to get us assigned to a new room. The replacement room was not clean, had a non-functional refrigerator and a toilet that ran water constantly.

It appears the hotel is in need of renovations and might be undergoing them. Room had no shower curtain, no clock, wall paper bubbling off walls, curtains not working correctly, holes in the drywall in the bathroom and behind the beds, and there was trash behind the night table and one bed. Everything was old, except new flooring.

This property looks abandoned from outside. Inside it smells and is filthy. All door up the hallway look like they have been broken into with a crowbar. We had to rig something into our door because we couldn't use the deadbolt and were concerned for our safety. If I hadn't booked online last minute with no refund I never would have entered the front door.

Was expecting to be able to swim in the pool but it was shut down and the breakfast wasn't satisfactory cold hard cooked eggs greasy cold sausage the waffles were the only got because you can fix them yourself

Budget friendly hotel, ticks the important boxes
The property appeared understaffed, but service was friendly and the accommodations met my expectations for this class of hotel. Internet worked well, rooms have refrigerator, microwave oven and coffee maker. I would definitely stay here again. Do not stay here without a car, there is nothing within walking distance.
