Convenient and clean Ori staff need to keep eye on shared kitchen, microwave was very dirty. Also need after-hours contact number for Guests staying to use, if they get locked out of room or need urgent assistance, when Ori Staff are not working downstairs

Great place for a night or two of accommodation. It is within a pub so don’t expect super quiet until the pub closes. Great pizza in the pub or plenty of other dining options within walking distance.

This hotel is the bomb! Not for those looking for quiet but if you don't mind live music and general busyness and want cheap accommodation with basic but clean facilities in an area that has everything going on then I highly recommend this place. I loved my stay here and would happily stay again!

Wonderful property! The room was clean and the shared bathrooms look like they have been recently upgraded. The communal kitchen was well stocked and there is coffee and tea as well 😊 You can walk to all the tourist sights and beaches as well as cafes, restaurants and shopping. Every staff member I interacted with was SO nice, professional and helpful making for an amazing stay.

Old style Aussie pub, rooms was large and airy, bathrooms super clean. Within walking distance of restaurants, beach,shopping and bed was comfortable. Will stay there again.

Bit disconcerted that I was unaware that the Hotel would be locked until 3:00 pm. Wasn’t sure that the place may have gone out of business. Very pleasant chap greeted us when we came to check in. Warned us that it might be a bit noisy in the evening. The revelry downstairs did not bother us at all. Overall clean and pleasant place to stay. No complaints. Very convenient to Town Centre.

Location is nice, cheap pricing however there is no aircon and the rooms seem to retain heat. So at night it is still 25-30 degrees inside the rooms, couldnt sleep at all.

Modern recently renovated, very nice. Great shower, TV, wifi and bed. What else do you need. On the Highway, may be road noisy.

Know what you are getting into
The facility is a hostel, with shared bathrooms, single beds, and no air conditioning. Having to have your windows open made it very noisy from the traffic. I would suggest if you are not traveling alone, you might be more comfortable for a few dollars more at a real hotel.

Painting was falling of the ceiling, shared bathroom facilities. Window looked out on to pub courtyard. Photos are not a true representation of the room. Staff were helpful.

A great looking hotel. Room was clean and comfortable and within easy walking distance if amenities. Food options limited at the hotel - pizza only which is no big deal as there are plenty of places close by with variety. The advert and staff failed to disclose that a live band was playing in the bar directly below my room so until 10pm it was impossible to get any sleep or even hold a phone call. Being a Sunday night and having driven all day I was hoping to get an early night in. This could have been articulated a little better.

Do Not Give Credit Card Under Any Circumstances
Good location and room acceptable. Darby street is a great part of Newcastle and beach walk well doable. However, as well as requiring up front payment, the owner requires both credit card information and enabling security information (CVV and Expiry Date). This is absolutely not on, especially given the shoddy security I witnessed (1) Whilst I signed in, the owner left a pile of other patrons card data fully in my view. I could easily have memorized four or five full sets and gone on a several thousand dollar shopping spree at someone else's expense given this "lapse". (2) The pile of credit card data was treated sloppily, clipped together by the flimsiest of paper clips. The owner tried to reassure me that security was first class and that everything was "always kept in a safe" even as I could still glimpse other patrons' data! So his assurances were highly dubious to say the least. So I simply wrote down false credit card data after my prepayment and I would advise people either to do this, to pay cash and deny having a credit card or simply find another place to stay where the owner has more respect for his customers than to jeopardize people's privacy and show their personal financial data to all and sundry. I appreciate that owner had had bad experiences in the past, but the way to deal with them is to go through normal channels, i.e. investigation and pursuit by police, rather than treating customers with such complete contempt.

Great little stopover
Not so easy to find a park cos this little pub is very popular even on a Thursday night Very welcoming staff. Ok so our room wasn't ready but we didn't need to sleep right now We were visiting family close by who had recommended this accommodation On our late return again we were welcomed with a complimentary drink Gotta be happy with that Had a great sleep and set off on our journey well rested Thanks guys We will be back and want to try those good looking pizzas
