« There was one issue - the internet! This may be a local issue but it did mean I couldn’t contact family nor work »

« We were stopping at the Lock overnight following a funeral. Reception for check in is in the pub/restaurant (obviously a cost saving exercise). Room was clean and comfortable, no tea/coffee on the drinks tray but to be honest we were so tired we weren’t having one. Comfy bed, room warm enough and minimal noise from guests in other rooms. »

« Le restaurant est vraiment bien. Malheureusement pour avoir une bonne nuit (ce qui reste l'essentiel dans mon cas), c'est compliqué quand la chambre est au dessus des cuisines dans une vieille bâtisse... Bruiante jusqu'à plus de 23h puis ça repart avec réception marchandise à 6h. »

« Have stayed in The Unicorn many times in the past and have been very satisfied however this particular room lacked in a few small things. One side of the double bed did not have any surface to place personal items such as watch, phone and wallet or cash etc. Because of the exceptional large bed there was not enough room for a bedside cabinet on that side but maybe a small shelf would be handy. Also one side of the bed had a light switch but it didn’t appear to do anything, I would have expected...

« Arrived after food service had stopped but Forest Lodge were very helpful and offered to make us a sandwich. We got a takeaway in the end and they let us borrow their plates and cutlery :) »

« its a titanic pub, so liked the range of real ales, lovely village, everyone so friendly made you feel welcome,and two more pubs only few hundred yards away, crispen and black swan. »

« We stayed here overnight for a friend’s 60th nearby. The area is quiet but we knew that already as we had visited with those friends on a number of occasions. It was close to Blyton’s Ice Cream with a vast array of delicious homemade ice creams to choose from, and a lovely little tea room around the corner called Tiffin’s. We managed a lovely walk around the village in sunshine too. Very enjoyable stay, lovely evening meal. The only downside (for us) was the overpowering smell of bleach in the...
