The place was very nice.. the wifi wasnt great so it didnt work the fire stick so no tv to watch..also one of the bedroom doesnt have a/c so it was very warm in there. But over all it was a very nice stay.
I reserved the house because my daughter was getting married in Hanover with a reception in Gettysburg. Great location between the two towns. Beautiful and historic. We took the "mother helps the bride prepare" pictures there. As a sweet added perk, the piano is in tune!
Loved the house itself. The only downsize was the street the house is on is extremely busy till late at night. We had a wedding the next day and it was difficult getting a good nights sleep. The house was clean and quaint. Once I used my brown noise app on my phone, it was easier to block out the noise from the traffic and finally get a good night sleep.
What a neat place! We loved the mix of old and new and enjoyed everything this property had to offer. It's close to Gettysburg but there were also lots of shops to walk to right in town. (Antiquescafes, winery, etc.)
It is a beautiful older home with a lovely outdoor space. I think we were the first ones in it in a while so it wasnāt as clean as I expect. There were some minor issues that I believe the owner will resolve quickly. For the money I expected it to be perfect.
The house was adequate for our family, location was great to commute to and from the place where our sonās wedding was taking place. Not much time was spent at the property. The only complaint from the family was the nighttime traffic noise since most of us live in low traffic areas
Very nice, large house. Perfect for large groups. Clean. Nice outdoor firepit for chilly nights. Traffic can be a little louder in front of the house. Only disappointing thing was the internet wifi is not good at all. Not many options if you want to relax and watchmovies
You kind of felt like youāre living back in history in this house. And you have some modernizations of a kitchen edition that was really large. The only issue I have there is the lack of Internet. The back yard has a fire pit and is in a nice yard. We tried for four days to get the TV to work. The wi-fi system does not work and the property manager couldnāt help either. Youāre only getting one to two bars on the Wi-Fi system, which is not good for screaming at all.
Location was great, well stocked kitchen, bathroom.
However, Internet didnāt work the first night, was able to get into it the 2nd day.
Living room tv instructions are horrible. I understand tv is not a priority when on a family trip but after going all day, we decided to watch a little tv all together before going to bed. Instructions are basically nonexistent, I reached out to property manager ( did not expect a reply bc it was almost 9:00 at night, and fully understood he would get back to me at his earliest convenience) however that never happened. Didnāt hear from him or anyone the whole trip.
I donāt think itās worth the 500.00 plus a night they are asking at all.
This is a great house, well cared for and well-appointed. We were a party of six: my husband and me, my brother and sister-in-law and their twin teen girls. The first floor was historic in the front and modern, very spacious in the back. All of our socializing and dining was accommodated very comfortably. Bedrooms were upstairs. Two queen bedrooms have window a/c, which cooled those rooms adequately. However, the bunk bedroom had no a/c, and it was rather warm (even with fans). The upstairs bathroom has issues. While the claw foot tub is romantic, its height makes it very difficult to enter and exit, especially because there are no handrails. And, the toilet flapper broke as soon as we arrived. The downstairs bathroom is fine. Notably, the housekeeper and handyman attended to fixing the toilet immediately. The owner was very communicative and understanding, helpful. Having written all of this, I must say that this home was very comfortable and safe, and the lovely, fenced backyard certainly would accommodate small to medium sized dogs. We certainly would return, maybe to meet āReggieā when heās workingā¦
Close to everything. The house was better than expected. Would happily stay there again. Super accommodating and very responsive anytime I had a question. Highly recommend anyone stay here while considering a trip to Gettysburg area.
We booked this place in New Oxford for Mom's Day Weekend. A great location to Gettysburg. It is about 15 min (straight on Rt 30 W) to the town square in Gettysburg. about 20 min to the Visitor's Center/Battlefields. The house had vintage charm, along with the new addition of kitchen and living area. The kitchen was stocked with any kitchen essentials you need, and due to the giant size of the kitchen, cabinets were labeled. The jetted tub works great! WIFI there was no issue. My data signal was not stellar. There is an abundance of towels/bedsheets. We were even greeted with a dozen fresh made strawberry donuts, with tie dye icing and edible gold accents! YUM! Thank you for an enjoyable stay! Suggestions: a door mat inside the back exterior door, a few more night lights upstairs, purge the fridge/freezer/pantry/coffee cabinets.
House was a great mix of new and old. Felt very comfortable the entire time. Nice to be able to have room for a family of 5 with two large dogs. Taking home some design ideas!
Overall we enjoyed our stay. However it is clearly not a 5 star placement.
The wifi is nearly non-existent. In fact, it was so frustrating that I started using my phone as a hot spot.
Contrary to the advertisement, there is no smart tv anywhere on premises. There is a flat screen but not a smart tv. There were no jacks for a Firestick, ROKU etc. Nor was mirroring an option with our iPad. Therefore, we could not stream anything on any TVs even with poor Wi-Fi.
We survived the week by using my iPad and hotspot phone.
This is not the place to go if you think you can bring your computer and get some work done.
Finally, the cleaning lady was very sweet and accommodating. However, there appears to be no one keeping the flower beds weeded, bushes trimmed etc.. The front yard was definitely a turn off with knee high weeds.
Backyard was fenced in and that is nice. Parking is off street and great. Kitchen facilities were beautiful. I enjoyed the vintage architecture , woodwork and stain glass. Host had a bakery bring us scones on our checkin. That was a nice touch.
The local antique stores were fun and well stocked.
Location made it easy to get to/from Gettysburg. The front street is busy!! But use the paved ally in back and it wasnāt that bad getting back into Lincoln Way.
But the Wi-Fi/tv keeps it from being a worthy 5 star.
We were visiting for the 160th anniversary of Gettysburg. This house is in a prime location. Excellent communication and check in process. Beautiful little town square a short walk away. Nice fenced in back yard for children. Accurate in VRBO description. Would definitely recommend for families.
This was a wonderful place to stay for a history weekend away in Gettysburg. We had a great time in New Oxford, and it was close enough to Gettysburg to spend time there as well. The home was amazing, and we had everything we needed. It was comfortable and relaxing and we felt very much at home.
Our grandmother passed away in Hanover, so all of us cousins needed a place to stay close by- this house was beyond perfect! We were able to walk to get coffee, wine and antiques! The kitchen/living room was perfect for us to all talk, share old memories and make new memories!
