Great historical cottages!
My husband and I truly enjoyed staying at this cottage! The communication was excellent, Eleanor and Kurt kept up to date Communications with us as well as helping us find their cottage since it's off the beaten path. They have a Keurig machine with k-cups, some tea options, sugar and creamers. We were very grateful for that! Curt took us on a tour of the property and told us about the history when we first got there and it was kind of amazing. The bed was comfortable, the room was nice and clean, and we highly recommend staying here. The only very small issue that we had was the bathroom had some mold or mildew in the nooks and crannies. They may want to take care of that. Other than that we highly recommend staying here.

Hidden Gem English Cottage
Charming English Gothic Cottage in New Hope, PA. Lovely town . There are steps. Rooms are small but cozy. I don’t suggest this unit for tall or large individuals. We enjoyed it though. The owners are very nice and accommodating.

A Cozy ~ Steeped in History ~ Get Away
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Eleanor and Kurt were lovely and attentive in introducing us to the area and giving us a history of the quaint village. It is quite a fascinating story. We were very comfortable in our sweet fairy tale house. You could almost feel the energy of the former artists that graced the property. We enjoyed excellent dining (thanks to Kurt's recommendations), had a charming walk into New Hope along the Towpath, and explored many historic areas. We will definitely look forward to returning.

2nd time here!!
2nd time here, last time we were in the Gothic cottage and loved it. This time we were in the Herringbone cottage, also loved it. Eleanor and Kurt are awesome they treated us like family members they liked, LOL. We're planning to go again for the winter before Xmas time. Peddler Village and the town of New Hope, Pa and NJ are a must to visit, lots of shopping, food and things to see. Do not miss out on this place

Very charming cottage setting, adjacent to the towpath into New Hope.
We had an amazing time at this “English Village” in New Hope! Accommodations were very quaint, clean, and well appointed. We loved being so close to town, however not directly “in” town. We brought our bikes so we were able to bike 10 minutes into town, and then secure the bikes at the train station. Hosts were very accommodating and obviously take great pride in the property and its ongoing rebirth as an art colony. We will be back!

Charming Artsy Cottage
We absolutely loved our stay! An art, history, nature, and architecture lovers dream! The hosts were so kind to share the history of the property and give us a tour. The cottage was the perfect place to rest and relax while we were in the area for a wedding. It was so peaceful and we loved all of the nature sounds around the beautiful property. We most definitely hope to come back. If you will be in the New Hope area, stay here!

Perfect Weekend Getaway!!
Very pleasant experience. The caretaker met us when we arrived, showed us around the property, explained how it came to be, and some history about the area. Gave us ideas on what to do and see. The cottage was perfect for us. Cozy and homey. Recommend for anyone looking to experience the Peddlers Village or looking for a day trip to New York City!!

Enchanting Stay English Village Style!
Truly a step back in time where the architecture and gardens transport you to a simpler time and place. My husband & I were truly able to de-stress and pull back from the constant noise & news and just take in the quiet nature of Gothic English Village!

We had a wonderful stay at the Herringbone Cottage. The tour we received at arrival was a great start to our stay and I knew immediately that we had chosen the right place to stay for a couple days. The cottage was just perfect! Beautiful area, we will definitely visit again.

The Secret Garden getaway
We stayed in the Herringbone Cottage in a village of English cottages, an artists colony in a previous life. All surounded by a secret garden! Our hosts, Eleanor and Kurt gave us a tour and transported us back in time with the history of the property and their family. Perfect hosts, perfect getaway. We enjoyed our stay in the cottage. The cottage had everything we needed and the bed was super comfortable. The New Hope area is amazing with local shops and plenty of great restaurants. Would love to go back in the Summer to enjoy the gardens. Kurt was the perfect host.

We booked this location for our 50th wedding anniversary trip. It is the first time we had ever used VRBO. We read reviews, looked at pictures and thought it was a good choice for us. Unfortunately we were sadly mistaken. The unit was very dusty, there were dead bugs in the coffee mugs, but the most upsetting was the black mold on the exterior of the shower door. We immediately started looking for other accommodations, that was made difficult due to events scheduled in the area. The situation was so beyond redemption that we didn’t afford the owner an opportunity to attempt cleaning the unit. Using the condition of the unit as an indication of their hygienic standard, the situation was clearly hopeless. We have contacted VRBO, have sent pictures as well and are awaiting a response from them.

It's the most lovely little rustic cottage that had everything we needed for a short stay. It was close to so many fun things- New Hope, antiquing, dining... It truly felt like stepping back in time in a quaint, romantic English village. The hosts were kind, available and very informative of local history. We are so looking forward to visiting again!

Quaint Country Cottage
We truly felt transported back in time, a feeling enhanced by Eleanor and Kurt's vivid descriptions of the unique history of this enclave. The Herringbone Cottage was clean, cozy and comfy, offering all the amenities described in the listing. We loved awaking to birdsongs and drifting off each evening to summer night sounds. So much to do each day, including the Delaware Canal walk into New Hope, the charms of Lambertville and gorgeous landscapes all around Bucks County. We were disappointed that the onsite restaurant (Inn at Philips Mill) is closed but there are many wonderful places for dining nearby.

Beautiful weekend in New Hope!
We loved our stay in this quaint, adorable little gothic village! Eleanor and Kurt were amazing and provided us with so much history about the property. The cottage was super clean, cozy, and we enjoyed our stay. I recommend this rental!

Kurt and Eleanor were very kind and hospitable. Kurt gave us a background on the history of the property. The property is walking distance and the bicycle ride (take a bicycle) was amazing with beautiful views.

Just perfect!
We absolutely loved our cottage and the property. Eleanor and Kurt could not have been more welcoming and kind. The cottage was spotless, the bed is super comfy, the shower has good pressure, and the architecture is gorgeous. The whole property is interesting and historic. Close to everything but extremely private and quiet. We saw more deer than people! We are looking forward to our next visit!

valentines weekend getaway
The village is a little hard to get to so the owner has you call when you are close to give directions which was helpful. The cottages on property are beautiful but old. Mine smelled very musty and musky. I had to get room freshners to make myself feel more comfortable. It was smaller than anticipated by the photos but that wasn't an issue. Parking at times was difficult due to snow and just there not really being a large lot. If I needed anything the owner responded quickly which was nice since they are nearby. I liked that New Hope downtown was close, but still a distance to add privacy. Overall we had a great trip. Thank you!

Perfect Getaway Spot
Loved this quaint cottage right by the canal and very near New Hope! My partner and I wanted a change of scene to celebrate our anniversary and this was the perfect spot. The cottage was just right for two with a small but functional kitchen where we made breakfast each morning and a full dinner one night. It was a very cold weekend but we were warm and perfectly comfortable even with temperatures in the teens one night! We are looking forward to returning in the spring so we can enjoy the grounds - which were very pretty even in winter = as well. Our hosts were also lovely - spending some time when we arrived telling us about the history of the property and of the area and making sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. I highly recommend both the area and this property!

Charming cottage very close to all the places we love about New Hope. Kurt was a great host. Loved walking along the river by the canal. Easy access to spectacular views. We ate breakfast at Duck Soup and the owners there spoke very highly of our the family that owns and runs the property.

We had a great stay at the cottage. The location is quiet and secluded. While the property is near the towpath and walkable to downtown, the distance is about 2 miles each way and the towpath is not well-lit so driving was our preferred option for dinner. Very charming and perfect for a few days away!

Fairytale English Village
We were looking for something completely different to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary and found it here. Close enough to walk to downtown New Hope via the towpath, but far away enough for peace and quiet. It's location is also conveniently located within miles of numerous attractions throughout Bucks County and northern New Jersey. Our hosts were very hospitable, providing a tour and history of the property with many stories to tell. Our cottage was absolutely adorable and cozy for the perfect autumn weather. We will definitely go back!

Unique and Cozy Cottage
A lovely stay unlike any we've had before. The cottage was like something out of a fairy tale, with modern amenities including a well-appointed kitchen, unlimited TV channels and even a shelf of interesting books. We also enjoyed the (socially distanced) tour of the village given by the owner upon our arrival. Lots of interesting history about the artists who lived and worked there. The village is next to the towpath -- great for running and walking to New Hope. We hope to visit again.

History abounds
We were very pleased with our cottage. The air conditioning was severely tested during our stay, and it more than did the job. Also, the owners were certainly responsive to any requests that we made. We are looking forward to watching the area’s progress and we hope to stay again during another season. Perhaps autumn next!

Little Gem in New Hope
We were looking for a short getaway from the Washington DC area and found Herringbone Cottage and its historic village to be so very charming and relaxing. The restaurants in New Hope and Lambertville (just across the Delaware River in NJ) are top notch. Most of all, our hosts were so welcoming and gave us a tour of the property and helped us with restaurant suggestions. We plan to return to New Hope and enjoy more of its history and culture.

Wonderful Visit to a Charming Artists' Village
My husband and I spent a delightful week in the Herringbone Cottage in a former Artist Colony in New Hope. Eleanor and Kurt were gracious hosts who were readily available to help in any way. Upon our arrival, Eleanor gave us a tour of the property with a detailed history of the artist colony. Our cottage was spotless, comfortable, and beautiful with so many of the original features preserved including magnicent thick wooden doors with wrought iron. We had many meals outside surrounded by lovely full gardens. We hope to return soon!

Kurt was amazing with the directions getting into the location. He was very knowledgeable about the history which made it even more of a pleasant stay. They advise you to call the day prior, make sure you do that, and also follow up the day of on your way there. If you try to find it on your own and have never been there you probably won't find it. Small hidden Gem.

This gothic cottage and the village is rich in history. The cottage was well stocked with the comforts of home. The French Restaurant directly in front of the cottage was both romantic and delicious. Kurt was a gracious host who proudly shared the historical facts of this artist community.
