« Think of it as luxury camping and you'll be happy. If your idea of comfort is umbrella drinks by the pool, you will not. Personally, I loved it. But it's not for everyone.
This is a rustic cabin in the jungle. 4.5 miles off the main road, 2.2 miles of it is dirt (well maintained, regular cars not a problem). 15 minute drive to nearest civilization (the part of the description being in the middle of a historic town is inaccurate - it's 7 miles outside a historic town). « We enjoyed our stay, especially the outdoor patio. Rocking on the chairs to decompress after a busy travel day was perfect. I personally loved the outdoor shower but it was not private - you share it with another unit. Hosts were great and lovely people. Their dogs are so sweet and gentle! They location is a bit of a drive from the main roads to Hilo but excellent access to volcano national park. The unit had everything we could need. Great stay. »

« Just like camping. Carpet had not been vacuumed. There was one light and one outlet that could only be used for charging devices. No hair dryer or curling iron use. Two towels, no hand towels or wash cloths. Bathroom sink was only plumbed for cold water. Shower liner was peeling and there was no bathroom light. Common area was not clean. »

« Great little house next to the owner's house. Not a lot of space but cozy. Owner is easy to reach and answers questions quickly. Warm welcome. However the location is not that convenient as it is a good 25 min from Hilo, and the roosters and dogs of the neighborhood are very noisy at night... »

« Very clean & nicely decorated, however would sacrifice adorement for more functional surfaces. No normal upholstered chairs & kitchenette very difficult to function in. Internet marginal for working vacationers & didn't recall ceiling height in loft being mentioned (too low to stand up) Hot tub was a real bonus yet having dry towels was a challenge. Great location for National Volcano Park but pretty far from beaches. »
