Just outside of the main town area, we had a quiet nights stay and amazing views all the way to the ocean! Having our Own cabin and easy parking was nice. Very comfortable stay.

The property is conveniently located in a quiet area near the main road. Restaurants and grocery stores are within walking distance. There is a direct scenic view of the mountain and forests from the property. Staff is super friendly and home-made free breakfast is delicious.

We enjoyed our stay at Bella Vista! José was very friendly, welcoming, communicative, and helpful. The location is really convenient near cloud forest. The hotel has a gorgeous view over the valley and a nice covered terrace to enjoy the view. Thanks for the great stay and Would highly recommend!

Bella Vista Lodge is a great hotel. The hotel manager is friendly and helps you plan your stay. The breakfast is good. The sight is breathtaking. The beds were comfortable and lots of amenities were given.

Great stay!
We believe it’s family owned. Very friendly and helpful if you need anything. The area is a little secluded which is nice and quiet. Step out of your room and a great view is waiting for you. I was told during the dry season, the sunset will be right in front of you. Place is comfortable. No AC, then again, just open your windows to let the air in. You’re on top of a mountain anyway. Not sure if it’s the rainy season, but there were bugs outside. Turn off your lights so they don’t come to your door. Breakfast was delivered to our rooms in the morning. Overall, would stay again if ever. It’s also a 5minute or less drive to the town.

Gem in Monteverde. Rustic cabins.
What we liked the most: Scenery: Amazing view of the valley and lots of birds if you wake up early. When clouds disperse, you can see the Pacific and the Gulf of Nicoya. Mesmerizing. Budget some time to just drink in the scenery. Hospitality: Jose is a hands on host and is responsive to your every need. Getting breakfast hand delivered to you in the morning by his Mom was a highlight every morning. Location: Perfect. On the edge of Monteverde, close to Curi Cancha reserve and the Monteverde Cloud Forest park and many attractions that we missed. Walking distance to restaurants and a nice supermarket. Just to give american travelers an idea of the cabins themselves, they are very similar to state park cabins. Rustic and out there. We had a comfortable stay there.

Family run hotel with some fine touches
Greeted by name when i arrived.Comfortable room close to Curi Cancha and a waterfall. Walkable to restaurants and the Centro Commercial for the bus, about 1k. Family run, and breakfast was served in my room at a scheduled time. I liked the place a lot. Great view from a small covered viewing area.

Located near the Cloud Forest gate, this property was isolated enough to be quiet & relaxing ( with a great view), plus within walking distances of 3 good restaurant choices. As well, the breakfast "homemade' and delivered to your door by the cook ( a lovely ole gal) was delicious, and added to the great experience...

Empfehlenswert durch gute Lage und Blick
Am Ortsrand, sehr schöner Blick, einfache Zimmer, beim Frühstück hat man die Wahl aus 3 Gerichten. Die Einfahrt befindet sich direkt neben der Tankstelle. Wir empfehlen die Lodge gerne weiter.

Great place with awesome service!
This was a really nice place just past downtown Santa Elena. There is a beautiful view from here (hence the name Bella Vista). The rooms are small but very comfortable. They have really good mattresses on the beds making for a good nights sleep. The bathrooms are large and clean, with good hot water. The WiFi in the rooms is very stable and very fast! What really makes this place is the service. This is a family run business with the mother making the breakfast which is brought to your room. The son, Jose, runs the front office and is very friendly and helpful. He helped to arrange tours for us and gave great recommendations for restaurants and helped sort us out when we needed some medical assistance, re-booking the tours etc... We would not hesitate to stay here again or recommend it to others.

Jose, our host, was very accommodating and helpful. Room was clean and view was spectacular! Location was walking distance to restaurants and shopping which was nice after lots of driving this vacation. Having breakfast brought to our cabin is a nice touch and it was typical Costa Rican breakfast. Good value for your money.

Friendly staff, old facilities.
All of the staff were very friendly and full of knowledge. The facilities are definitely showing their age. The mattresses were old and a little lumpy. Had to get rid of many cockroaches during our three day trip. Breakfast was included everyday which was a nice surprise. Overall staff was very friendly, location is good, but would not stay there again unless several things were changed.

Hello, thank you for your comment, I think that the cockroaches that you have seen are quite strange, I did not receive any report from you on that case, it is strange because my rooms are cleaned daily, by our cleaning lady, maybe normal . Small beginnings from the jungle, could enter the room, but if I guarantee that the cockroaches were not, they would have informed me when they were here, that would have been very good. But thank you very much for your visit.

This is a very rustic hotel and for the price I think it's a good deal. Breakfast included, just order fruit, we could not eat other stuff, very poor quality. For the price I would say it's a pretty good deal. View from the room was beautiful but the spot the hotel is located is in open space where there's constant wind and element that makes it hard to relax for us. I saw few other hotels that are more enclosed by woods and felt more cozy. Monteverde is very windy due to it's geographic location and gets extremely cold at night which we did not expect. So I think we would have had a better time if we staid in more cozy location. However, the hotel owner was so attentive and ready to help with everything you need, we appreciated it so much. I had a minor accident and needed some ice but because the nearby stores were all closed for the night he drove into town to get some ice for me. What a wonderful person!!! thank you so much!!!

Thank you for your comment, in fact Monteverde is a windy and rainy place, it depends on the time of year, with respect to breakfast, I thought it was to your liking, given that I was not informed of any inconvenience. That's right, there are more hotels around us, so it's important to read what each hotel offers, we offer what the different reservation platforms say, it's also important to know what exactly we want, and you can change the price, because not all hotels have the same price, there are different offers. My rooms are small but I try to be comfortable and clean. Regarding my service, for me the customer service, the care of my guests and the comfort comes first.

The owner Jose shows great hospitality. He helped us with ordering dinner, booking all the trips, and providing in-room breakfast service. We really enjoy staying at Bella Vista and will definitely stay here next time.

Temper ur expectations & you won’t be disappointed
Clean, basic/adequate, reasonably comfortable room with a SPECTACULAR view of the Gulf of Nicoya in the distance. Owner José is congenial and accommodating; will gladly help with local tourist arrangements. Room (“cabina”) lacked AC and heat. At mountain altitude, AC wasn’t needed, but a bit of heat would’ve made cool, damp evening more comfortable. Water in shower and sink was only lukewarm; encouraged a QUICK wash-up. Single bulb in ceiling fixture, no table lamp for reading/writing. No room-darkening shades, so sunlight will help you wake up. No dining facilities on premises, but owner Jose’s mother will cook a basic breakfast ($8 pp), which will be delivered to your room. More than a hostel but clearly not a fancy place; we enjoyed our one-night, modestly-priced stay while focusing on the many nearby attractions in the Monteverde area.

Functional Room in Good Location
View is great from both the room and the overlook. Easy to find and good location in relation to sights and town. Jose at front desk was extremely helpful in all aspects (including the booking of tours). Room was functional and very clean. Water pressure could have been better and hand towels would be nice. Listing in Expedia is correct except there was not coffee in room (just cups and saucers and a microwave). The place fully met my needs.

Great little lodge
Loved the place. Really small, only 5 rooms and the owner was so friendly. The lodge has a great view overlooking the forest and it's pretty close to both the city center and the cloud forest preserve. No frills, but everything was clean and worked.

Highly recommended!
My boyfriend and I loved our stay at Bella Vista! Great location - about a 10 minute walk from downtown, so it is convienent, but you are away from the noise. The cabin was very comfortable and clean. The owner Jose was very friendly and extremely helpful in booking tours and planning our stay. We ordered breakfast one morning and it was delicious. We loved it - hope to return one day!

Best sunset view from the windows and front yard! If weather is nice you can see all the way to Nicoya Gulf. Good landscaping and quiet surroundings...has refrigerator, coffee machine and TV, but no vanity top to put toiletry bag... But hotel is far from main mall where restaurants, shops & bus stop are. Room was drafty, you can feel the wind. Thin wall that you can hear everything about your next door neighbor. The owner Jose is very nice and helpful, take notes about what need to improve. Hopefully it'll have better condition when we visit again.
