Nestled in the serene embrace of southern Indiana's rolling landscapes, Blue River Valley Farm provided a pastoral retreat for our celestial adventure. With its sprawling 120 acres, owned by the welcoming Young family, the farm offered a picturesque backdrop to witness the solar eclipse—a natural spectacle that became even more memorable thanks to the untouched beauty of this location. The Youngs' warmth and generosity were evident from the outset. Their decision to maintain an affordable rate during the eclipse event spoke volumes about their integrity and commitment to accessible hospitality. The thoughtful provision of fresh farm eggs from their chickens added a delightful touch of home-grown charm to our stay. Our accommodations in the charming farmhouse married rustic appeal with comprehensive amenities. A hot tub beckoned for relaxation under the open sky, firewood was ready for hearth and pit, and the well-stocked kitchen awaited our culinary exploits. The absence of internet was a hidden blessing, encouraging us to truly unplug and immerse ourselves in the moment, enhancing our experience by fostering genuine connection. The farm's remote tranquility and proximity to a meandering river presented endless opportunities for exploration and discovery—from fossil hunting to simply reveling in the open space. As a pet-friendly property, it was a joy to watch our dogs embrace the freedom of farm life.

Blue River Valley farm is a beautiful place to stay. It is a very relaxing place We had a wonderful time. Easy access to Louisville area and Corydon Indiana’s 1st State Capitol. Great places to eat near them The Overlook Restaurant is only 30 min. We had deer in the yard one morning. Nature at its best!

A wonderfully peaceful getaway
I booked this property to take my mom on a little getaway for her 80th birthday in June and we couldn't have been happier! Ashira and her sweet husband were so gracious and friendly during our visit. We arrived in the middle of a severe storm (tornadoes hit close-by) and Ashira kept in contact all day to keep track of our progress. Once we were close we had to stop due to hail and she messaged me to let me know that they had checked the road to ensure it was clear for us. We finally got to the location and she was waiting for us, concerned due to the weather and it felt like our guardian angel was waiting! Storms knocked the power out and within minutes they brought a generator for us to make sure we'd have the comforts of home despite mother nature's fury that day. After that our stay was just what we wanted and needed- peaceful and serene with beautiful views of the hills in the area. I took one of my pups on the well-maintained trails on the property leading back to the Blue River and we enjoyed our little woods excursion. If you want to truly get away from the hustle and madness of daily city life this is THE place for you! The house was very clean and well appointed with everything you could need or want stocked for you (just bring yourself and groceries.) This was my first VRBO booking and it was a fantastic experience for mom and I in the peaceful country setting. Thank you Ashira and Richard and we'll be back to see you as soon as possible!!!!

Awesome place to unplug!
Absolutely loved our stay. Should’ve stayed longer. The property was great and we thoroughly enjoyed hiking and exploring the entire property. The walks to the river to enjoy the scenery were very nice. Ending each night with a fire in the fire pit and a soak in the hot tub we’re just what we needed. Communication with the owner was very good and she provided us with farm fresh eggs from her chickens and wood for the fire pit. Loved just sitting on the back porch listening to nature with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. We will be back.

A beautiful peaceful property
It was the perfect place to unwind and relax after spending our days at the Kentucky Derby. The drive to Louisville was about 45 mins, mostly rural areas and not much traffic. The property is beautiful and peaceful. My favorite part was relaxing in the hot tub after busy days, looking up at the stars and listening to nothing but the evening air.

Beautiful getaway!
My husband and I stayed for a little getaway and had a very relaxing time. Our first night was incredible as we soaked in the hot tub under a blanket of stars. We enjoyed walking the property's trails, preparing all of our meals in the well stocked kitchen, and making a warm fire in the wood stove. We felt rejuvenated at the end of our stay. Ashira was a wonderful host and very attentive. Thanks for a great stay!

What a gem! My family had a wonderful time here. Thank you for sharing your property with us. The love and care you put into all the details was evident. Farm fresh eggs such a wonderful touch! Having wood for the fire pit made campfire time easy and was really appreciated. Would love to see upgrade to the bed mattresses at some point, but that's really minor. We will definitely be back!

Wonderful Experience
This is a beautiful property and we had a great time. We played in the river, searched for fossils, made bonfires, listened to the birds and the neighbors cows, and walked the trails. Ashira is a great host! Our kids fed the chickens and koi, and fell in love with the dogs. The house is nice, and was much better than being in a cramped hotel room.

Beautiful farm house!
We reserved the house for the weekend traveling with our daughter and Great Danes. The views from the house were amazing and the property was perfect for the dogs. We picked strawberries at the Huber Winery which was a great tip from the owners. They could not have been more accommodating and gracious.

Quiet Retreat
We had an amazing stay at Blue River Valley Farm. The house was clean and cozy, and we enjoyed exploring the property as well as taking some time to unplug and just relax. The host, Ashira, was super helpful and responsive and even took care of our dog while we went into Louisville for the day. If you are looking for a nice quiet weekend near Louisville, this is a great place to stay!

Beautiful property with well maintained trails. Our dogs and kids aged 15 & 10 loved the exploring the expansive woods and river. The farmhouse is clean and cozy with the bonus hot tub. Also, there is a wood burning stove. No need to bring your own wood- the hosts provide plenty. The location is rural enough that star gazing is awesome. The host, Ashira is by far the best we've ever encountered and we rent cabins several times a year. She greeted us when we arrived and directed us to where we could find groceries. Shortly after getting groceries our car broke down, uggh. Ashira went above and beyond to help us including driving us 45 min to rent a uhaul so we could tow our car ourselves. There is not much cell or internet service at the location which is usually a huge plus for us because we like to unplug. However, it can create obstacles when your car breaks down. Ashira made sure we had what we needed including making phone calls for us. We will definitely stay here again.

Our fourth trip here.
We love Blue River Valley Farm. We came often when our kids were younger and our last trip was Seven years ago. For this October trip our kids were 14 12 and 9. We love roaming the land and especially going to the river for fishing and fossil hunting. You WILL find fossils. The kids loved feeding the chickens as much now as when they were younger. My 12 year old did not remember the lack of WiFi and spent minutes in the car on arrival loudly expressing her opinions on this, and on sleeping in a loft without a DOOR MOM I need PRIVACY. However that was it and she was bothered no more the whole trip. And our phone has plenty of internet by the way. We loved the hot tub , the trip to Matengo cave, the peace and quiet, S’mores by the fire. And far best of all the companionable farm dog Patchy and his new sidekick Annie.

We only stayed two nights. The scenery is absolutely beautiful. Ashira is a wonderful host and gave us farm fresh eggs that were such a treat. Although the back deck is lovely, the hot tub creates noise when running. We sat on the front porch for hours. It was so so quiet, it was amazing, except for the occasional moo from neighboring cows. Wow! We loved it. But know, there Is not much to do off the farm, if quiet is not what you are looking for.

Relaxing Getaway
Loooooved this property also loved the host. She really made us feel welcomed even before we arrived! Everyone needs to understand this is a FARMHOUSE not a hotel or 10 star resort, it really is a simple yet cozy rental that has some age to it! We loved hiking the 3 miles of trails around the property, seeing the Blue River behind the house and strolling through the field with Patchy one of their 4 pups that will greet you at the property. Truly was a wonderful experience, my favorite was the hot tub, of course who doesn't love a HOT TUB! We even loved the fresh chicken eggs, what a treat! Only complaint was some things were missed on the cleaning side but once mentioned to the host she was ready to spring into action :) Would love to come stay there again, tons to do around the area in short drive but most of the time we didn't even want to leave the property. One thing to mention is the cell service with verzion only gave us one little bar so if you need service to stream you'll be hanging around a while...but with a place like this you don't NEED to be online. Enjoy the beautiful scenery and shut down for a while and relax.

Beautiful scenery and a great 4 legged host
This place was wonderful to unplug and catch up with family. Patchy, their little dog, was a great little host and companion while we were there. He joined us on our walk down to the water. It was fun to look for fossils and shells, just listen to the water, and skip rocks. I would get this place again if our family wanted to stay again!

Just what we wanted
Great hosts, quick to respond to our needs. This is an old farmhouse that has been nicely renovated. Don't expect great cell phone coverage. We had two phones with us. The phone on the AT&T network could be used for texts but the one on the Verizon network could actually be used for voice calls if you were in the right place on the front porch. The tradeoff for the wonderful peace and quiet was worth it. We spent hours out on the deck reading and sat out front in the evening watching the sunset and the fog rise Plan ahead to prepare your own meals. There are no fine dining or fast food options nearby. I highly recommend you stay here if you want the exact opposite of a big city on the go all day getaway. Chill out, listen to the birds, watch the butterflies, and decompress here. Once you've relaxed there are some sights to see and activities to explore if you want something to do.

Family Vacation '21
Really enjoyed our time there. Spent one afternoon wading and playing in Blue River. A lot of time on the deck and in the hot tub. The evening sunset view out the front was so nice, with a field of big round hay bales, trees. House is on a high hill. Was Great. Ashira and Richard are kind people and worked to make the long weekend the best. Really liked their dogs, too. Ashira and Richard kept the dogs in their house down the lane bcs our son brought his pooch. The only thing that may have been somewhat incorrect was that the vrbo description said there were 3 bedrooms. There aren't. Having 3 bedrooms was a large part of why we chose this home. Maybe I just missed it in a detailed description! There are only 2 bedrooms and a trundle bed set up in an open area outside one bedroom, so the people in that bedroom have to walk through the open area to get to the 1 bathroom or kitchen. That was a little awkward. But we made it work ok. Again, was a VERY nice weekend. My husband and I would sure consider coming back, but probably not with our family (us, married son + wife and kindergartener, 1 unmarried son) bcs of the bedroom situation.

Our family had a wonderful time unwinding and enjoying the beautiful nature on the property. The kids loved taking walks through the woods and the dog loved swimming in the river. The walking trails were maintained really well and the beautiful view from the back deck was so tranquil! My husband and I got a much needed break from work, really appreciating the lack of WiFi and spotty cell service 😁. After a difficult year it was so nice to be able to disconnect and spend time together as a family. The property owners were very welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. I would definitely recommend staying at this property with your family!

Hi. Yes, some maintenance needs to occur. A new storm door is being installed this weekend. The deck is being completely resurfaced. The frame on the back door is being replaced. As you can imagine, getting contractors has been a challenge. It is all in process.

NIce Property, Great Location
Perfect location for exploring attractions in the area such as Marengo Cave, Indiana Caverns, Corydon, French Lick, etc. Also enjoyed quiet time and the trails around the property. House was nice and roomy, hosts were friendly (and we loved their dogs!). We had a very good vacation and would definitely recommend the Blue River Valley Farm.

Get Away from it all
Ashira and Richard are the epitome of what Hoosiers are. They are friendly, easy going, and there if you need anything. Ashira was easy to work with and available to you. If you are looking for a modern farm house, this won't be your cup of tea. It does have modern conveniences, but it does not have wifi, nor a lot of signal. (Which was perfect for us to disconnect from the world and reconnect as a family.) Just a suggestion for anyone staying: Inspect yourself after being outside. This is a heavily wooded area, and we did find ticks. Welcome to nature! We had a fantastic time.

Not the Best Stay
We honestly felt misled by the posting. There are not three bedrooms. There is a bedroom downstairs, a bedroom upstairs, and a daybed with a trundle in a non-enclosed space upstairs. The "whirlpool tub" is a basic tub, with jets, that is literally being held together with tape. The family room has soft spots in the floor so we closed of that space so the kids wouldn't get hurt. I understand bugs happen in the country but we found ticks in the bathroom and in our beds 😳. The hosts were very nice but the place needs a lot of work and regular upkeep, like spraying for bugs, for the price to be worth it. Also, Ashira showed up unannounced at the rental without a mask on the last morning of our stay which was not appreciated during a pandemic. We really wanted to like this place but the serenity and view did not outweigh the issues.

Our family enjoyed leisurely walks on the property on the mowed trails with our dogs and kids. Patchy the dachshund joining us for a walk was an added bonus! The house was comfortable and had everything we needed. We loved playing in the creek at the front of the property and skipping rocks in the river at the back of the property. We plan to return someday!

Wonderful Getaway
We had such a great time at this farm house! I was looking for something with land to explore and a place that also might have some outdoor COVID safe activities to do with my family. The house was big enough to fit three adults, 5 kids, and two dogs comfortably. There was a lot of land to explore and the trails were so nice! Our kids and dogs (and us) had an absolute blast roaming around. The hot tub was also a really nice addition. We also loved how close it was to Marengo Caves! The owners are very friendly and helpful! Would definitely stay here again! :)

Christmas trip
We loved this property! House had everything we needed including farm fresh eggs! Beautiful location to hike along the Blue river and our dog loved the outdoors! We also enjoyed the hot tub every evening! Would love to come back in the summer.

Amazing Property
We truly enjoyed every minute of our stay. The property is absolutely beautiful, from the views, to the trails through the woods, to the river. We saw all kinds of wildlife including deer, turkeys, owls, hawks and eagles. Our kids loved seeing Patchy every day and still ask about him. Ashira was great to work with and made sure we had everything we needed. We will definitely be returning to stay here.
