Apartment with a "surprise"
OK...if you are a couple of adventurous travelers looking for a reasonable place to stay in the heart of Madrid, this may work for you. The exterior of the building is pretty modest, but the apartments are nice and a great value. The unit we had was a 1 bedroom with two beds, a sofa bed, and a futon. There was a kitchenette with stove and refrigerator, a cool shower with jet-spray, and even a clothes washer. The A/C worked fine which is great because it was very hot.
There's a (no kidding) bordello in the building. If you happen to travel the cool glass elevator in the wee hours of the morning, you may (like us) get to see live sex acts (and we mean acts, not Acts) on the staircase, if the bordello overflows. Very convenient if you're in to that kind of thing. We had a bit of explaining to do with our teenagers (and in fact it all worked out well and could be the funny, enduring memory of the trip).
Public parking is right across the street if you have a rental car, that's very convenient.
