This campsite and SHROOM campsite are the only 2 out of our 3 campsites that can harbor Campers/RVs/Trailers. Camp HEART doesn't have the capacity to do that. The maximum size we can accommodate at the site is a 20-foot-long Camper/RV/Trailer. Our parking lot/turnaround area is about 42 feet wide so maneuvering larger rigs may be difficult. We do NOT have electric, sewage, and water hookup at these sites. So, you will be Dry camping or Boondocking.
There is one shared portable toilet for all three campsites

We give our guests space If you need us we are approximately 3/8 of a mile (in a direct line down in the valley) from the Primitive Campsites in the Barn House.
Eating Out? Two miles away, in Laurelville, there are 6 family-owned restaurants. The State Parks & Nature Preserves nearby are: Rockhouse, Conkles Hollow, Tar Hollow, Cantwell Cliffs, Ash Cave, Old Man's cave.

Laurelville is a small town on the western end of the Hocking Hills. It is mostly comprised of nice farmers and kind hearted hill people. The closest larger towns are Logan, Lancaster, Circleville, and Chillicothe.

Ravens Retreat is a 2 mile drive up off Thompson Ridge East from Laurelville. A 25 to 35 min scenic walk on the heavily wooded two-lane road, if you feel like you would like to walk to town. Laurelville has several businesses. Those being the Hocking Hills Visitor Center, Laurelville Fruit Company , Salt Creek Valley Bank ( AKA Vinton County Bank), Youngs Family Market, Gas Station, Family Dollar, Whites Hardware Store, A Grain Mill, Car Wash, USPS Post Office, and 6 restaurants. Those 6 restaurants are The Ridge Inn, The Village Café, Old Town Diner, L & J's Ice Cream & Pizza, Mam's Rusted Skillet, and Laurelville Pizza. We are particularly fond of Laurelville Pizza due to the delicious vegan/plant based pizza they make upon request. Doug and Tiffany, the husband and wife combo that run Laurelville Pizza, make delicious food. We order our pizza with, or without, vegan cheese. If you have interest in the vegan cheese, we recommend calling a week ahead to give them a chance to make sure its stocked.

If you are up for checking out some local art while away from Ravens Retreat, check out The Jack Pine Studio located 6 miles/10 min drive from the property. This studio focuses on glass work and is well known for intricate glasswork and live demos.

If for some reason you are meeting a group of people in the Hocking Hills, Laurelville has a nice playground and shelter house near the family Dollar.

If you only have one day to visit a Hocking Hills State Park, check out Conkles Hollow located 11 miles/18 min drive away. If you have more time, check out Rock House located 6.5 miles/11 min away.

This campsite is wheelchair accessible

Raven's Retreat is a Therapeutic, Vacation Rental Attraction, located in the Hocking Hills, where we focus on the well-being of our guests and provide a Catered Experience to them. People that stay at Raven's Retreat are often here to be immersed in Nature and visit the nearby Hocking Hills State Parks. While here guests experience Seclusion, Peace, Tranquility and an Escape from Everyday Life. All of our dwellings and spaces are inspired by Nature, Art, and overall Systemic Health. Raven's Retreat is run by an Athletic Couple whom has turned their focus from competing in various combat sports, to Lifestyle Wellness Education. This Education includes the pursuit of Mental Health through fostering Creativity and Self Expression, as well as, Nutrition, and Physical Fitness.

Raven's Retreat is a beautiful, 58-acre property located in the Hocking Hills, 2 miles east of Laurelville, Oh. We have 2 separate 1/2 mile long driveways, one to access the top of the ridge and one to go down in the valley, this land has remained mostly untouched. It was purchased due to its resemblance to the deep woods of West Virginia, home to Raven's mother, Lisa Mahaney. The property is dear to us and we do everything we can to protect and maintain it in its natural state. It contains 4 creeks, hiking trails, a pond, and the top of a ridge. There are several endangered species including whippoorwills and two lined salamanders that reside at Raven's Retreat. There is an abundance of wildlife present due to keeping this property as wild as possible. While no hunting or fishing is allowed, wildlife viewing, and birdwatching is encouraged. We are working with local environmental specialists to ensure that we create a thriving, healthy place for ALL life.
We do our best to keep the human traffic on the property low but we want people to feel free to explore our challenging trails. There are about 2 miles of Hiking trails on the property that are not heavily traveled. The elevation change from the top of our ridge to the deepest part of our creek bed is over 220ft. If you plan to hike our trails, please keep strong scents such as perfumes to a minimum. This is often overlooked, but it can be confusing and disturb the wildlife. We greatly respect our water, and have natural springs here on the property. More important to us is that our guests have a quality experience rather than flooding the woods with a lot of people.

If you want to venture out, there are also many famous parks with hiking trails in the area, such as Rockhouse, Conkles Hollow, and many other Hocking Hills State Parks.

Quiet hours are to be honored and kept when the sun goes down (8pm to 8am). A respectful noise level is to be kept in consideration for our neighbors and nocturnal animals. Please note, we do consider the effects of light pollution and use particular lights to lessen our impact on other creatures. We want guests to use yellow or green lights at night. We do not allow quests to use bright white lights at night.

We love animals but in the past, domestic animals such as dogs and cats have attacked our wildlife more than once so we ask that guests keep them leashed or tied out at all times. Also, If you bring a service animal, please keep them on a leash or tied out. We do not allow domestic animals to free roam on the property, in open areas, or within the woods.

Our space is for all peaceful people and we recommend the mentality of, "we're here together, so let's learn to live well together."

We have been Vegan Lifestyle Coaches for years are known for introducing people to plant derived foods, so don't be surprised if we offer you some plant derived food while you are here.

Currently we are creating a 2400 square foot pollinator garden near our largest rental called Klad House in an attempt to increase biodiversity. We have many projects involving art and nature, you may see a few of them while you are here.

When it comes to art, The Sculptdecor Shop is on the property, approximately 300 meters from Primitive Campsites Peace, Shroom, & Heart. Sculptdecor was started and is still lead by Dustin/Dj Weatherby. Dj is a master level sculptor, he specializes in custom animatronics and sculptures made from metal, wood, fiberglass, recycled materials, pumpkin, ice, and mixed media. Dj has countless projects in the works, if you see him in the shop while hiking around, feel free say hello.

Hope you will love our space as much as we do!

Your hosts,

Raven and Dustin/DJ.
