Makahuena 1102 is a laidback, ground floor getaway in the midst of all that Poipu has to offer. You'll also find two full bathrooms, in-unit laundry, and a dedicated work space just off the kitchen. From your sizable private lanai you can take advantage of the tropical weather by stretching out on one of the sun loungers for an afternoon nap, or enjoying a meal at the outdoor dining area.
Location-wise you'll find yourself at the perfect base camp for all your South Shore adventures. Brennecke's Beach, great for snorkeling and boogie boarding, is only a ten minute walk, as is the popular (and lifeguarded) Poipu Beach. Sea turtles and Hawaiian monk seals are often spotted on both beaches, which is always exciting for adults and kids alike! For the avid golfers, the Poipu Bay Golf Club is ten minutes walking from your front door. Or, if you're looking to be a bit more pampered, the Anara Spa is just a short walk away on the Grand Hyatt grounds. You'll also want to jump into the vibrant local food scene; the Poipu Shopping Village and Kukui'ula Shopping Center, both located just 5 minutes away driving, have something to satisfy even the pickiest eaters. Bubba's Burgers is a classic island favorite, and you'll never go wrong with shave ice from Uncle's. Old Koloa Town, again just a 5 minute drive away, offers charming and picturesque boutique shopping and dining options, as well as a farmers market every Wednesday. For the outdoorsy types, you can't visit the South Shore without seeing the absolutely incredible Waimea Canyon, nicknamed the Grand Canyon of the Pacific. Trust us, it's really that cool!
If you want a more low-key vacation, the Makahuena grounds are perfectly suited for a laidback staycation. Spend the day at the pool and hot tub, host a barbecue in the picnic area, or play a couple of pick-up tennis matches at the on-site courts. Everything you need for a great vacation is already here, including the incredible ocean views!
Want to make your way around the rest of the island? Drive time to the North Shore (Princeville, Hanalei, Kilauea) is roughly 1 hour, and to the East Side (where the airport is located) is 30 minutes.
As with most homes on Kauai, this vacation rental is NOT air conditioned, however there are ceiling fans in each room and screen doors on the lanai to help with airflow.
Please note that while this is a ground floor unit with no stairs, the ramp that leads to the condo's front door can be quite steep for some guests.
