The property was outdated. It felt low quality compared to other Marriott hotels. The elevator was also out of service so good luck if you’re staying on one of the higher floors. Unfortunately I did not see this when booking, and I never got an email saying that the elevator was out of service, even though other people did. If I had received an email, I would have canceled and gotten another hotel. The gate in the parking garage also went down before we got to cross, and it scuffed the top of our car. The breakfast was good and they even had milk alternatives which is nice for lactose intolerant people. The breakfast area is pretty clean, and the hotel overall is too.

This property is quite dated. The pictures on Expedia were deceiving as far as the lobby and rooms are concerned. Our room in general was clean. We did find crumbs and pieces of crackers on the mattress of the pullout bed when making it for our kids to sleep on. The elevator was broken, so we had to carry our luggage up several flights of stairs. The front desk offered to comp us a King bed instead of Queen for the inconvenience. Lots of outside noise (sirens, cars racing) for most of the night. It was ok for a one night stay, but not sure we will return when we visit KC again. We enjoy Residence Inn (just stayed in Chicago several months ago), so we were disappointed when this location wasn’t up to their normal standards.

Providing the highest level of hospitality is our number one priority and I sincerely apologize for failing to meet your expectations. I have shared your feedback with the leadership team to ensure the necessary guidelines are in place and reviewed to prevent the cleanliness issue from occurring in the future. Unfortunately, the elevator repairs are out of our control at this time. We have been very diligent at sending our guests email prior to the arrival date to let them know in case they need to make other arrangements. We do understand that it is an inconvenience, and we are hoping that the repair company can get us back up and running soon. I hope you choose to stay with us again when your travels bring you back to the area.

The hotels elevator was unfortunately down during our stay was made aware of that when I made the reservation 2 months in advance. But when the time came to stay in the room I was in a walking boot, and they could only get me a room on the 3rd floor. So 3 flights of stairs every time we had to leave and come back. But since the elevator was down, they did not charge for parking, which is great. However when I got into the room, the ice maker in the freezer did not work, it was on for the 4 day stay, still made no ice. A huge red stain in the main room, and the sliding glass closet door was off its tracks when I checked in. I called the front desk and they offered to change me rooms, but it would be a few floors higher. I declined the new room, and just wanted to make them aware of the issues, so I wasn't held responsible. Noise levels not too bad, but could hear every time the person above us showered or flushed the toilet. Could hear the rushing water. But the hotel is in a great place, and is in the beautiful plaza area. Over all the staff was friendly and was as accommodating as they could be. Would stay again just due to the location of everything

This hotel really needs a renovation. Nothing like other Residence Inn. At arrival the lady on the desk was friendly, elevator was not working so she waved parking fee. Parking on 2nd floor was a little shady but we had no issues. Room was outdated, sofa/bed has stains and when we opened it to set the bed, it had chips inside so it was not clean properly. During the night the room next to ours #616 were either watching a game or something and they were very loud, we could tell there were multiple persons there since we could hear them since we reach the 6th floor. Beds was comfy, for the purpose of sleeping one night was okay but, I will not stay again. Breakfast was okay.

The room smelt like cigarette smoke. We requested a different room and they gave us one. The new room was not clean nor well kept so we cancelled our reservation and found a new place.

This is the worst Marriott I have ever stayed in. It's old, dirty, and smelly. Elevators are horribly slow and loud to the point of feeling dangerous. Most of the staff were very pleasant but check in took forever and we were the only customers checking in. Never Again!

You can’t go wrong booking your stay here!
The hotel is located in the heart of the city, close proximity of all the things Kansas City has to offer. The rooms were suites, nicely appointed with very comfortable mattresses! Free breakfast 7 days a week! Hotel staff were amazing from front desk to Room Service.

Over rated
Easily the worst so called “3-star” property we’ve ever stayed. Good location and service are the only positive aspects. However, incompetent building design for rooms not in the main building. For the others, Beds are next to your door, and next to the building entrance. We were awoken at 120am, 220am, 330am, 355am, 445am, 535am by said door slamming shut. Since quality sleep is my priority, this place fails, and we will NEVER stay at any Residence Inn again. In fact, I’ll hold a grudge against Marriot in total.

Night in the plaza
Everything was really good. The staff was wonderful. The water pressure in the rooms was atrocious. Certainly there is a little bit of wear and tear on the building but other than the water pressure overall it was a great place to stay with a great location.

There was only one elevator for the whole hotel. We were on the 6th floor and the elevator took over 10 minutes to get to us one time. Not convenient for a larger hotel to only have one elevator. Otherwise very pleasant experience

The staff were great and made the “extra” effort at least three different times. The breakfast was good—better than the average. And it was just a block from the center of the Country, Club Plaza, so we did not need to drive around much for dinner and entertainment.

The Suite Life at Residence Inn
We really enjoyed our stay at the Residence Inn near the Plaza in Kansas City. It was a great location as we were able to walk to many destinations near the hotel such as the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art and the shops and restaurants in the Plaza. The staff was terrific. We enjoyed the people staffing the front desk. The breakfast crew and housekeeping staff were very responsive. Whenever I would thank them, they would thank me for choosing to stay at their hotel. Even after we checked out, the people at the front desk helped us out with a problem. Your staff there is a very valuable asset--I could not have been more pleased with how we were treated and assisted. Residence Inn by Marriott near the Plaza has now become our home away from home when we are in Kansas City.
