Beautiful location, friendly staff, just slightly let down by the constant undercurrent of ‘join the Karma club’ aka timeshare. Posters, leaflets, letters in the room and that was after I had explicitly asked not to be sold to as I was paying to have a holiday.

Disappointing stay
Disappointing stay - Karma did not offer any cleaning during our 3 night stay. This was the only hotel that did this during our week in the Isles of Scilly. The overall cleaning and COVID measures were disappointing with a lack of accessible/working hand sanitising stations. To finish on a positive the young staff were cheerful and always willing to help - they are a great plus to the hotel.

Dear Susan, We are sorry to hear of your disappointment during your 3 night stay. As I'm sure you can appreciate, this year is a very different one due to the pandemic still being an issue. The team have been taking extra precautions due to the rising cases across the islands, by limiting contact time within guest rooms, which are in place to help protect our guests, staff, visitors and islanders alike. Thankfully, we have managed to ensure we have stayed open and operational for the season, whereas some businesses have had to close, so we still stand by our decision to limit the offering of servicing guest rooms daily during their stay this year. We are happy to replace and replenish any room items via request from guests and will arrange small services for our long stay guests at present. Our team regularly clean and sanitize all public areas in the hotel and ensure than the hand sanitizing stations are fully stocked, so apologies if you found this wasn't the case. It's great to hear that you enjoyed the service that our staff provided and thank you kindly for noting this. We hope to be able to welcome you back one day in the future when hopefully the offerings will be back to our normal standard.

Well it's a pretty unique location, right on a beautiful beach on a small island. Building is in character with its location, rooms are well presented, clean, staff excellent, food very good, all in all a lovely place to stay .

I can not say enough positive things about Karma! The staff were so friendly and accommodating... the best I have ever dealt with quite honestly. The food was fantastic, which can be difficult to pull off on an isolated island I am sure, but they did it. Consistently.

Fantastic location but slow service at breakfast
The location and housekeeping could not be faulted. The service in the restaurant for breakfast was VERY slow so we decided not to eat our evening meals there as there were other options on the island. Overall what could be a fantastic hotel is let down by the slow service.

The hotel has a beautiful situation and clearly aims for a high standard. However, I don't think the standard achieved, good as it is, justifies the price. In particular watch out for the very small measures issuing from the 'automatic wine dispenser', which are far smaller than normal measures

Pretty nearly perfect
Pretty nearly perfect! The setting is one one of the most stunning and something that stays with you for a long time . The hotel is rugged and quite lovely. As you’d expect, staff are friendly and welcoming . Food is particularly fine . Minor quibble , no bread at breakfast but try the kippers they were sublime. The ocean room was comfortable but basic bathroom forces a less than perfect rating . If you’re over 5 foot 5 the bath is too small . At the price, it slightly lacks little touches , turn down service a bikkie or two. Outside area is fabulous . Overall can’t wait to come back .

Nice Hotel 40m from the beach!!!!!!
In my opinion the best hotel on the Isles of Scilly. - a superb location right on the beach. This hotel was run efficiently and on a very friendly, relaxed manner. On arrival to the hotel I was met by a member of the front-of-house team who explained and gave me all information I needed about the hotel and its facilities. I must say that I was a little disappointed when informed that the indoor swimming pool (mentioned on their website in February when I booked) was actually closed down. The food was really good and as I am a Coeliac and require a gluten-free menu this was well catered for and it was not a problem to provide a gluten-free alternative.

Brought back memories
Beautiful as always, food this year was wonderful and the weather was beautiful. As we already knew the island it was our perfect trip down memory lane. New visitors may want to look at the island in more details to ensure that amenities/landscape suit their needs.

Beach life
Our first ever stay at this hotel on an island we have visited every year for 20 + years, we normally self cater. Beautiful location and room had fantastic view. Staff on reception exceptional, very helpful, friendly and nothing too much trouble. Had major issue with put up bed overnight but issue resolved by reception in morning. Lovely that our dogs were made so welcome. Cooked breakfast not worth the money especially the rosti.

Fantastic chill out holiday. Great for walking and exploring other islands. Great food and staff, nothing is too much trouble. Need to be quite mobile on this island, very limited transport, 35 minute walk from Highertown Quay to Lowertown Quay for transfer to other islands.

Get away from it all
If you're looking for sea, sandy beaches, a two-by-one mile island to explore, friendly people (and seals), comfy lounge/bar and good food- and not much else, then this is perfect. Our dog now knows what her version of heaven looks like ( although perhaps with a bit more sun)! Relaxed service (although not overly attentive) and the daily news covering what's on and where to go on the island (did I mention the pub next door, the tea-room and the fish and chips?) all added to the experience.

Contemporary small hotel in stunning location
Very warm welcome by friendly staff. Our room, 'Ennor', had the 'wow' factor not only the subtle colours of the furnishings but the incredible view over landscaped garden and the sea over to Tresco and St,Mary's. The weather was good but variable. This is the place to view big skies both day and evening. Outside are comfortable chairs and tables and loungers. Enjoyed the foraging day with Rachel. Collecting seaweeds and local plants and seeds that the chef used to create a 5 course gourmet meal that included scallops, lobster and rack of lamb. Benefited from a very high quality massage that is provided in-house.

Beautiful but pricey.
This hotel is in a fantastic location if you are a nature lover. However extremely pricey unless you belong to the Karma Club. As it is on St Martins, an out-island of the Scillies, only access is by boat. During normal daytime this is not a problem but if arriving after 5.30 a private water taxi is necessary at enormous cost. The hotel needs to sort this out! Hotel itself is comfortable and food good, but again expensive. Staff are friendly and helpful.

A Real Treat!
The most beautiful setting, could not have been better for a 'big birthday' treat! Our room was lovely, with a fabulous view. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful and the food was excellent at both breakfast and dinner. We enjoyed playing records again on the record player!

St Martin's remains wonderfully idyllic
We returned to St Martin's being die-hard fans of the old St Martin's hotel and were pleasantly surprised. It was towards the end of the season and little had changed of the feel of the old hotel.The Tean restaurant was no more with dining moving downstairs but this did not detract from the excellent food with the curry, from the Goan chef, being the best I have ever tasted. Once the pool is back and up and running it will be back where we remember it but we would heartily recommend that those who have been before make a revisit to see for themselves. An excellent surprise.

Wonderful Islands to get lost from the real world Patchy internet & mobile cover great if you need to relax & wind down Five main islands to visit all different all with good cafe hotel & restaurant cover All in all a great place to hide & just enjoy Great wild life flowers & foliage Lovely boat trips between islands & wild life trips St Martin's Hotel a little gem thank goodness they re-opened this year Extremely well run by Francesca & her whole team We hope nobody reads this so we can return year after year!!!!!!!

This hotel is not good value for money. The service was severely lacking. Staff are very young and poorly trained. We stayed 7 nights and not once were we offered tea or coffee at breakfast before we had to ask for it. The breakfast itself is average, buffet style, reheated cooked breakfast which continually ran out so we were waiting for food on several occasions. We had one dinner on our first night with such slow service that we ate elsewhere on the island every other night. The wifi did not work throughout, despite assurances that 'it would be fixed in a few days', which in this day and age feels akin to having no electricity and at these prices seems not far from a breach of contract. The hotel itself is in a nice location, but is generally insensitive to its beautiful and quaint surroundings. If we ever return to St Martins in future we will book a guest house or self catering cottage. Very disappointing.

Beautiful location and extremely comfortable
On arrival staff were very friendly and informative. The room had a wonderful view and was clean though smaller than we expected. There was only one chair to sit on. We were tired after long journey and had ordered dinner for 7.30. The staff were quick to take the order but we had to wait an hour for our starter. We nearly gave up waiting but there was no alternative. When the food arrived it was delicious but our experience stopped us eating at the hotel again. We were impressed with the welcome our family members were given when they came for coffee on a wet day - refugees from the camp site! I was disappointed that the swimming pool was out of action. There was no internet or mobile coverage although staff did offer use of the hotel laptop at reception this was not satisfactory. We would certainly consider returning for another holiday.

Thank you for your review. I am sorry that you experienced delays in food service but I am glad to hear you enjoyed the food. We have problems with BT but we have now dedicated an office wifi line to the guests which will hopefully improve things until we can get it fixed.
