We really enjoyed our stay! It was so lovely being able to wake up to the lake each day and enjoy coffee and breakfast on the deck. We also really appreciated the hospitality and thoughtfulness of the host. Would definitely stay here again!
Kids loved the pool table and our oldest loved that he could sleep in the basement next to the pool table while his sisters slept upstairs. Plenty of room for our family of 5.
Checking in was seamless. Upon arrival and turning on window units I found the largest spider ever- look like a tarantula, and a huge cockroach climbing on the walls in one of the bathrooms. Amongst other things I noticed the future looked very dated, the porch was covered in debris but also not how I remember it being pictured. I went back to the originally posting and noticed that all the decor is definitely not was shown in pictures. I emailed the property contact on Saturday evening and still have had no response- Vince the sour review. I would not recommend this place. Between rotten boards across the back porch and the deck and the large creatures killed this place was a bummer.
We really enjoyed our stay on the river. We had a beautiful view of the river and a nice dock to fish off if. The cottage was cozy and roomy at the same time. The views were outstanding with all the windows facing the river. Lots of beds. Will be back!
Let's just get the nitty gritty out of the way first. The house is old and that means it comes with some old house issues. The pool table really needs some TLC to fix it, but it is playable (it was one of the favorite things about the house for my kids).
The owner was incredibly responsive in handling any issues we might have had but, more importantly he was also available to answer questions about the surrounding areas as well. If I could rate the owner higher than a 5, I would.
The spot is perfectly situated for the region. We were only about 10-15 minutes from anything we wanted to do. The grocery store was 2 miles straight down the road in front of the house. We rode go carts, we played mini golf, did an escape room down town, shopped, and went swimming all within 10-15 minutes. This really allowed us to maximize our time and events this year in ways we have not been able to do in the past.
The view in the evening and morning is incredible. I really enjoyed a morning cup of coffee out back on either the deck or under the deck by the fire pit. Speaking of the fire pit, we had cook outs and smores almost every night we were there. The fire pit was another favorite of the kids.
We had enough pots and pans for our needs. There was also a crock-pot, nice glass mixing bowls, measuring cups, coffee machine (with filters), plenty of plates and glasses, as well as plenty of utensils. The gas stove was amazing, I had forgotten how nice it is to cook on a gas stove.
The Lakeview was gorgeous the linens and towels were clean kitchen well stocked with items we needed. The only reason I gave it four stars was because the pool table needs repair the pool sticks were not working we had to buy a repair kit just to use them. The air conditioner seem to really struggle during the day and I felt like it's because the filters needed cleaning on the window units. Our host texted back very quickly if I had any questions. My kids enjoyed the board games.
When we arrived I was really taken away by The view of the lake.
The steps down to the dock are steep I would not recommend for elderly or handicap. My oldest son is special needs and could not make it down to the dock. But I feel the pictures represent that so that was my fault.
When arrived the house was hot so first thing we ran to walmart and bought a fan for the kitchen. The house is in a good location, quiet neighborhood, light traffic area, great water views, a little dated for the price but comfortable, needs more pots/pans/cookie sheets, easy access to town and sights. I will say I have never stayed in a VRBO with more towels!! It is definately well stocked in that area :) As you can see my ratings are all over the place. This house is better than a hotel, spacious, just needs a little personal touch.
The yard/ outside of the house was neglected, not manicured like the neighboring properties. The pool table was broken & hardly usable (the sticks didn't even have tips). Needs pest control- ants & spiders everywhere. Trash was still under beds from previous guests. It was a decent enough place in a great location but we did feel we significantly overpaid.
This home was close to Hot Springs but in a very quiet location. We visited due to a volleyball tournament, but enjoyed fishing off the dock and playing pool. Thereās nothing too fancy about this place but itās clean and Rex, the owner, was friendly and accommodating. We had a great trip!
This place is not what the pictures show except for the view. Upon arrival, I saw the front storm door was off. I grabbed the handle to close the door & my finger got smashed in between it & the glass. Then I noticed that the cute vrbo pics you see online were obviously staged. There were old, thick, & dusty spiderwebs all over. I'm allergic to spiders & killed 2 in one of the bedrooms. The owner claimed that the cleaning crew (we were charged a cleaning fee) had left earlier but I text him to tell him about the webs. He was very apologetic. He offered to send someone over but we decided to wait til morning because we wanted to get grocery shopping done before dark. We then checked the kitchen before we left. ANTS. They were all over the sink area & the bathroom. I get it, you're by a lake & you're going to have critters. I waited to mention it to the cleaning lady the next morning. She was so embarrassed about all the webs. Then we showed her the dryer lint filter which looked like it had NEVER been cleaned. We did not do any laundry for fear of a fire hazard. The beds are old & one bed slopes so bad to one side that it feels like you're going to roll out. Unless you sleep on the hump in the middle then you're good. The lamp in the living room has no switch. Just a little metal piece where it used to be. It's also not the lamp (or the recliners) pictured in the ad photos. When the cleaning lady came I mentioned these problems. She asked that I write a list to help her remember to pass along to the owner. I received a text from the owner asking for that list. I attached PICTURES with the problems & never got a response. I sure didn't think I was causing trouble but apparently it didn't go over very well & was taken personally. Aside from the webs we never complained. Only made him aware in the list as I was asked to do. In the meantime we enjoyed our outings away from there. We left the place cleaner than we found it. My first morning home I text him to ask if he would consider giving a discount for the inconveniences we experienced. I figured it doesn't hurt to ask & the worst he could say was no. He was insulted. He accused me of threatening him with a bad review if I didn't get a discount. I NEVER said that! In turn he threatened to "take action" for what we broke if I left a bad review. We didn't break anything so that was mean & unprofessional. I'm not labeling my review good or bad but it is HONEST. I have all the proof in texts & photos.
Spent most all our time driving the back mountain roads stopping at every park we could. The cottage was fantastic. We spent a lot of time on the desk over looking the lake. We had a nice little bonfire in the pit and we even jumped into the lake with 59 degree temp. Water was fantastic
The check in/out couldnāt have been easier. The home was clean and tidy. We woke up early each morning to have coffee on the dock and it was perfect. Hot Springs downtown is just a short drive so youāre close enough to still be near the action without hearing it. We would definitely stay here again!
We had a great time!! everything look great and the whole house was nice and cleaned.. loved the view by the lake! we played pool, grilled etc really Enjoyed the time with family...
Most of the accommodations were ok. The furniture was not the same as profiled. The walkway very narrow. Not wheelchair friendly. The toilets were the biggest disappointment, as they were very outdated. They need standard size or stool size to be installed. The patio view was wonderful. Enjoyed but more for young generation.
As said above, it was a overall satisfactory experience but nothing out of the ordinary and the property is little overpriced for it's worth. Something in the range of 150s/night would be ideal. Some curtains were too loose and some closets can't be closed as there were no doors on that. The baseline is the property is overpriced for it's worth.
The price was good, the view was epic, and the sunsets over the lake were incredible. Everything was accurate with the pics and description. It was quiet and just a short drive from everything we wanted to do. The AC is managed by the company in that it has a a limit to how low you can set it, but there is a window unit in the master bedroom that helps. Most people would likely be fine, but wife has health needs for it to be a little lower. The property manager got the company to lower the limit at night, but they counterbalanced it and raised the limit during the day which shifted the problem. The big company was my least favorite part of the whole experience. We just dealt with it because we were grateful and really wanted to enjoy our time away. The property manager was responsive and funny. Fully available, but not invasive. He got the AC limit lowered after I told him I thought we would be fine.
The house does show some wear after many years of service, but wasnāt expecting anything different. The wifi and appliances worked fine. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
