Girls getaway
This trip was planned as a girls getaway to surprise our daughter (who has three sons) coming up from Florida for a long weekend. We had such a fun time we decided to make it a yearly tradition. The house held all 8 of us comfortably, in a beautiful setting right on Seneca Lake, offering a beautiful display of Gods creation from either of the two decks. LOTS of laughter & love!

Family Reunion
We were so happy with everything about this property. The location is beautiful, and the house was very clean. We spent so much time on the deck and on the dock. The view is amazing, and the area was so quiet and peaceful. We had family in from California for our reunion who had their own rentals. They loved the area. We would definitely return.

Great week!
We really enjoyed the cottage - there were 7 people for a family vacation trip. More than enough room to be together/have some privacy if desired. The cottage was well equipped, and perfect for our group. The only negative is the road/driveway in. The property shares an entrance road with the neighbors, and they have made it a very sharp 90 deg corner with large rocks, signs, tree stumps so that turning that final corner while towing a boat is incredibly challenging. The neighbors recommended asking the owners to widen the other side of driveway at the top

Glad you enjoyed your stay. The best way to bring a boat in is to boat launch it at Smith Memorial Park which is a public park very close by.

Family getaway
This is the second time we stayed here and had a great time! We had a boat this time and thoroughly enjoyed the water. Just a couple of suggestions: ceiling fans on that wonderful back deck would help keep the bugs away at night when we were playing cards and board games. We spent almost all of our time on that deck. Mattresses on the second floor were very soft and didn't offer much support for the adults that slept up there. We cooked pretty lavish meals and the oven didn't want to heat up a couple of times. Turning it off and on several times helped. Overall a very positive experience!

Glad you had a good time. I will suggest citronella candles on the porch help to keep the bugs away at night. The two single beds upstairs are brand new but will check on the double bed up there. And will have the oven checked out as well. Thanks for letting me know.

Beautiful view, comfortable home
We had a great time at this property! The layout allowed for one couple on each floor, which was very nice. The house is very well equipped and furnished very comfortably. We spent most of the time on the spacious deck and on the dock as it was very humid and the A/C never really cooled off the upper and lower floors. Once the humidity broke, it was very comfortable. We would definitely visit again!

The view was wonderful and communication with the owners was prompt. The kitchen was well stocked. Wasnt thrilled with the street access as it was a long steep hill and we were unable to walk anywhere. There were a few things in need of repair such as the railing on the bunk bed and some windows that either wouldnt open or were missing screens and we found a few cockroaches in the bedrooms on the main floor as well as the lower bedroom.

We hope you had a good time. Thanks for letting us know about the railing, we will fix it ASAP. The parts to fix the window is on order. Every so often you will see a wood roach which is common in this wooded area but we have the outside of the house treated 3 times per year so it is rare to see one. The main road down to the house is steep but you can take a nice walk along the lake front which we do daily when we are there.

Very Nice, Though Not Ideal For a Boat
Not fancy, but a nice house for 4 adults and 2-4 kids. Very, very clean. We loved the fact that linens, towels, soaps, etc. were provided - very handy. Close to many wineries. Just think twice if you are planning to bring a boat - tie up facilities are minimal, but far more important, getting into the driveway with a boat in tow is nearly impossible.

We booked this VRBO based on the listing and the sterling reviews. Our actual experience was much less than acceptable. Two days prior to our arrival we were advised that the house had an old septic system and on well water as opposed to a public sewage/water system. They further recommended we space our showers 15-30 minutes apart. At that time it was too late for us to cancel this reservation and get any refund. The four of us were therefore careful to minimize our water use. On day 2 the water heater failed as one of us tried to take an evening shower. The absentee owner had us troubleshoot the boiler system. The gas boiler “re-lit” that evening, but failed again the next day. The showstopper was when we were unable to flush the toilet or wash our hands due to lack of water flow after only 3 people flushed toilets within 30 minutes. This happened on multiple occasions. We didn’t notify the owner concerning the water shortage as we concluded they already knew about the problem as they had already cautioned us 2 days before check-in that they had a water problem. The owner’s response was as follows: “It is an old house in a rural area and the private well is dependent on the amount of rain in the area and usage. Sometimes people have no problems at all but we try to warn them just in case.” All four of us were extremely dissatisfied. Had we realized that there was insufficient water for basic hygiene requirements then we would have stayed elsewhere.

We are very sorry your stay at our lake house was disappointing. We wish you had let us know immediately about the water shortage instead of telling us about it after your departure. We do encourage guests to use the water sparingly just as a precaution but the shortage you experienced is totally unacceptable to us, as it was to you. We have a very good plumber on call 24/7, and they came out after your departure and resolved the issue (plugged inlet filter), and also adjusted the boiler. The next guest had no water issues. We had hoped the partial refund we offered you would alleviate your dissatisfaction and we again apologize for the issues you had during your stay.

Perfect Lakeside House
The house had everything we needed and is clean and in excellent condition. Any questions we had prior to arrival were quickly answered by Robyn. There was plenty of space for 6 adults. We didn't use the bunk house, but took a look at it. It's a really nice addition of space it's well designed with a full mattress on the lower bunk. The back deck was perfect for sitting out at night to see the sunset and relax to the sound of the water. We were relatively close to Corning, Ithaca and Watkins Glen so seeing the sights was easy.

Perfect!
A gorgeous property! We sat on the deck that overlooks the lake for hours. We encountered no bugs at night, so watched the sunset from the deck every night. Our only issue was that the outlets in the lower bedroom didn't work, so we had no bedside lamps. Some light bulbs were out too. The lack of A/C downstairs was okay. The water was clear for swimming, and the dock was great. A very quiet and peaceful place!

I’m so glad you enjoyed your stay. I wish you had called us about the electricity in the lower basement. It was probably a circuit breaker and they are in the laundry room.

Great house, great location
The house was great and the location to great wineries was awesome. If we had to say anything bad about the place would be the lack of A/C in the basement, and that the amenities (i.e), utensils and lack of oil for cooking were either non-existent or lacking. Beyond that we loved it there.

Fun on the lake
We had a great time in Hector. The house is spacious & the extra bunkhouse was really great. We spent hours in the water & on the covered porch. Fires every night. The perfect summer break. The house is well equipped & it was nice to have water shoes available. We left all of our floaties for the next guests. Watkins Glen is close (15 minutes) & has everything you need. The state parks are amazing.

Excellent Family Wine Trail Stay
Excellent location for beautiful, quiet sunsets. Close to Watkins Glen where we had an excellent night out on Captain Bill's dinner cruise. The wine trail can begin right at the top of the road the home is on. The home has everything you need for a great vacation. Enjoyed grilling by the water.

Wonderful house
Perfect for a long girls' weekend. Plenty of space for 5 of us. After checking out the wineries and hiking the gorge, we had fun hanging out on the dock, deck, patio playing games. The bar was a plus in the downstairs. Would definitely stay there again!

Reunion Week
This property was a perfect choice for us - a group of college roommates looking for a midway point for a 3-day reunion. The cottage is as advertised - great sunsets from the porch and dock. We didn't go in the water due to the temperatures (air and water) but enjoyed the view and the quiet. It seemed we were the only ones in the neighborhood at this time of year. Great location - we went to a concert in Ithaca one night and hiked Watkins Glen gorge on the first day it was open. Great food, beer and wine nearby.

Great place on the water
We really loved this place. The weather was hot, 90 degrees in May, so we really enjoyed eating on the huge porch! The house was stocked with everything we needed. We had a few fishermen in the group so they enjoyed the dock (one fish caught and released). We had to clean up around the firepit a little and had some nice bonfires. The lawn needed a mowing but otherwise was nice and clean. I wouldn't put anyone in the bunk house though. Don't count on it as a place to sleep as it's a musty mess.

Laura, So glad that you had a great time. The bunk house is used for overflow which is why I recommend only 8 people as there are 4 bedrooms in the main house. The bunk house does not have AC and it was closed up all winter. I will definitely have my cleaners air it out this week.

Perfect get-a-way in wine country
My wife and I stayed here for our 25th anniversary trip. We visited waterfalls in the morning and wineries in the afternoon. The location was perfect. The house was outstanding, it had everything we needed. We enjoyed sitting out on the porch, fishing off the dock, watching the sunset over the lake, and relaxing by the fire pit after dark. There were only two of us for this trip but we're already planning on coming back with friends and family. Thanks for a great experience!

Great Getaway On Seneca Lake
Both the house and the location were great for a fun lake weekend! Plenty of space to sleep inside and lots of room outside for games, making a fire, and hanging on the dock. The host was excellent at communicating when there was a small wifi issue and it was fixed in a timely fashion. We would definitely come again!

Great Lake house!
Our family (4 adults, 6 children) thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this rental house. We brought our Seadoo and tubes, and spent all day, every day, on the lake. Brought a large inflatable island, and adults and kids alike floated just off the dock for hours. Kitchen had everything needed to cook large family meals, and having two fridges was ideal for extra drinks and larger food items. Kitchen was stocked with necessities like salt and pepper, sugar, spices - much appreciated. We ate all meals on the huge covered deck, and loved the fire pit at night. We did bring our own plastic Muskoka chairs, which provided lots of seating on the docks for the day, and around the fire at night. Can not think of any thing that would have made our stay any better. We would love to book this property again in the future, and would not hesitate to recommend it to any one looking for a cottage on a lake.

Breathtaking
We had a fantastic experience! Spent most out time swimming in the lake ! The sunset from anywhere on the property was breathtaking!! Sitting by the fire pit was the perfect way to relax after being on the lake all day and the stars at night were another amazing sight! The house was well equipped with everything we needed and if we didn’t have it Walmart was a beautiful scenic drive away! Close to all wineries you could ever need and as a bonus there was a carnival at the top of the street this weekend! We had a wonderful time and no one wanted to go home!

Wonderful family vacation for all ages - beautiful view, great facility, excellent location.
Another great week-long family vacation in this house. The house has everything we needed for cooking, sleeping, playing, or just relaxing on the porch or by the fire pit. We enjoyed family dinners on the porch, food cooked on the grill, marshmallows roasted on the fire. The beds are comfortable, and the AC was great in a week when the temperatures were in the 90's. Some of us hiked the gorge at Watkins Glen, went to the Science Museum in Ithaca, made a trip to the Corning Glass Museum, tasted Finger Lakes wines at nearby wineries, spent hours at the public beach and playground, and paddled the canoe around the lake. Robyn was always available by messaging for questions, and helpful in making arrangements. We look forward to coming back here for our next family vacation.

Property was great and fit all of my family and extended comfortably. The owners were very accommodating and stayed in touch when we needed it. Linens were provided and all necessary kitchen utensils. Watkins Glen was fun with trails and lake was beautiful.

Beautiful Property
This rental is very clean, very well-supplied, and very enjoyable. There's plenty of room for a bunch of kids. My grandkids cried when we had to leave the lake, the fire pit, the sandbox, the big-screen TVs, etc. I have promised them we will return next year. You will get everything you hope for and more out of a stay at this lovely property.

Beautiful home
This house is tucked away in a beautiful wooded area right on Seneca lake. We didn't use any of the outside amenities because of the weather. The house is perfect for a little getaway. 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms in the house. The main living area, dining room,kitchen and living room are all pretty open so you can be together. The bunkhouse is separated from the houses, we did not use it. The location is perfect for exploring wineries and all the natural beauty of the area. We would love to return
