We never even checked in. The lady at the front desk told me that we could not stay in the room reserved because we had a service dog. She tried to put us in a "pet room" it smelled like a 30 year old ashtray. We left, never to return. I am going to try and get a refund.

I do apologise for the issues of your stay. If had you had been forthcoming before your stay we could have accommodated you a bit better if we had known in advance that you would have you service dog with you. We are a pet friendly hotel and do have pet friendly rooms that are assigned to pet owners only. We are very cautious to our guest that might have various allergies and can not allow animals even service dogs in rooms not assigned for pets. The room I showed you was a non smoking room that was pet friendly. That was your issue, ( you wanted a King room that no pets had been in). I rented that room to someone a few minutes after you left and they had no issues and I even asked them if they smelled any type of cigarette smell. They didn't! We didn't charge expedia for your stay so the refund will be on them. Depending on the package you got with them will determine if its refundable. However, we didn't charge for the stay. I would suggest for your future bookings to call ahead and let the hotel know before arriving that you have a service dog so that you won't have any further issues.

There were only 2 improvements I would recommend. 1. New bedding 2. Larger soap bars Our soap bar was small and thin and broken before I opened it. I did not ask for another because I had soap with me. Other than that we enjoyed our stay and I would stay there again.

The staff was super great and very friendly and helpful. Due to the price of the room I was really scared but I was pleasantly surprised when we opened the door. The rooms have been updated with new paint, flooring, and furniture. The beds were comfortable to us but we don’t care for super soft beds. They weren’t to hard either. They had really good crushed ice in the ice machine as well. The mini fridge and microwave both worked great as well. We had no complaints at all. My sister and I had a wonderful stay and are planning a trip back in the spring.

Awesome Stay!!!
The hotel was just what we needed for a short trip to float the river. Will definitely book again in the future. The hotel is a little dated, but the owner had all brand new furniture being delivered while we were there. Very good to see they are making the right upgrades. Made the parking a little tough, but I could tell it isn’t like that normally. Hope to be back soon, and I hope you consider staying with these friendly people. Also, the keener has the prettiest and most friendly black Golden Doodle you’ve ever seen. Prince is amazing, and he definitely isn’t shy about making friends.

So sorry your stay wasn't what you expected. We have all new furniture in all rooms, hardwood flooring and a new new paint job in almost every room now. We have been in renovation mode for the past year and each room will be fully renovated very soon.

Rock hard beds.
It is an older hotel so I knew what to expect. What I didn't expect was: 1. A full size bed instead of a queen bed as it was listed. 2. The bed was like sleeping on cider blocks. I used my camping mat and slept in the floor since that was more comfortable.

Good price. We stayed 3 nights. Fast check in. The women checking us in was very pleasant. Housekeeping was not the best. Didn’t empty the trash or refill the coffee. One day we didn’t receive any housekeeping. There was a young man at the front desk one morning that I went to look for breakfast not friendly not greeting or acknowledgment. Overall it’s a place to sleep quite and comfortable.

Steve, I am so sorry that things were not 100% here. We are short staffed and try to meet every need. I at any point and time can be reached and if I had known of your inconveniences I would have personally taken care of anything needed. Our desk clerks also help in housekeeping and laundry so that is most likely where he was or if it was really early he might have worked the night before and was trying to get a nap before starting the day.(because we are severally short staffed) I do hope that in the future if your in the area you at least stop in so we can chat. This was our second time staying here. We came back because they were so good the first time. I didn't think they could do better than the first time but they actually did! We were traveling in weather and called ahead to let them know we were gonna be getting in late that night. A lot later than we had planned. No problems there. A few hours later, they called us just to check on us and make sure we were doing okay on the road in the weather. I thought that was above and beyond great service. But wait..... there's more! It gets even better. They called again to see about how far out we were and we told them we were only about 20ish minutes out. They put our key card in a place outside for us and told us what room number we would be in. That would save us time when we got there. We have a service dog and check-in takes a little bit of time as we provide all paperwork to prove our dog is truly a service dog. They didn't make us have to do that this time and so all we had to do was grab the key card and go to our room. Here's the awesome part......the weather I mentioned that we were traveling in was very cold, rain, then snow. When we walked into the room, the heater was turned on and the room was comfortably warm!!! He went down to our room and turned the heater on for us so we would have a warm room when we got there. Now that's 5 star hotel service there!!! Village Inn goes above and beyond to take care of the people who stay there. We highly recommend Village Inn!

I would have gone elsewhere if I had seen the hotel before I booked. It is really run-down and overpriced. One customer commented that it looked like a setting for a horror movie. It is not a place where you feel safe. The shower was broken so there were only two options for water temperature- boiling hot or freezing. The breakfast was subpar. Apparently, the owner believes customers like completely dry biscuits since they do not provide any butter or jam. The positives are: the staff is extremely nice and the room was clean and adequate.

Regarding the spot on the sheet I did upgrade you to a king room at no cost and told you if there were any issues I would make sure that it was taking right away. However the power outage we had no control of and cant help those things. We got several inches of snow and sometimes these things happen. Price point was fine. Unit was clean and warm. Nothing elegant but only staying one night on road to somewhere else. "Breakfast" was in a refrigerator. Coffee machine did not have coffee. no attendant in lobby. Left article of clothing behind and when called back, said against policy to mail to me. Said I would have to return. Offered to send money for package. Attendant said she would get back to me in a week or so. Still waiting.

The owner does not mail things left behind to guest so if a staff member offered to mail this to you they would be doing this on their personal time with their personal money the hotel doesn't cover any expense's for these things. So if was offer to you please be patient and hopefully they will get back to you.

Room was clean to start. I stayed 4 nights. All they did was empty the garbage each day, did not make the bed, did not leave clean towels (had to ask for clean towels), did not replace any cups, did not vacuum. It was quiet but I think that was due to very low occupancy. The breakfast was sausage patties, small biscuits and small bottles of Sunny-D in a cooler. That’s it. Up to you to microwave it. Two mornings I had to call to get the door open at 7:00am to get coffee, though they say they open at 6:30am. If I visit Hardy again, I will NOT stay at this property

Much needed renovation and cleaning!
We requested a dog friendly room and the only two rooms they had were smoking and dog friendly. When I scheduled on Hotels.com it said nothing about a smoking room and the smell was horrible. The carpet in the first room was absolutely disgusting dirty. The heater stopped working so we had to switch to the room next-door. They replaced the carpet with tile in the 2nd room which that was fairly new. The second room’s bathroom was so disgusting with peeling paint and cracked tiles and a tub that looked absolutely filthy that we were not able to take a shower/bath.

I read the reviews before we booked here. I’ve learned, over the years, to read reviews a certain way. Some people will leave awful reviews even when it’s not true. The fact that the owner replied to those critical reviews, with facts, helped me to make my choice to book here. Upon arrival, the front desk staff was very welcoming and friendly. We have a service animal, which we notified them ahead of time, and they were very welcoming to her as well. When we walked into the room it was very clean smelling! Not like chemicals clean, but a fresh clean smell. Not overbearing but was nice to walk into. The room was super cute! They have taken the time to make this older building (which is a really nice building) as modern as possible. The floors were clean! Most hotels will leave the bottom of your socks black. This place did NOT do that! The floors were not damp and they were very clean! Is it a 5 star $500 a night hotel? No! But ya also aren’t paying $500 a night here. For the price ya will pay, I’d say it’s absolutely worth 5 stars! We would not only recommend it, we will happily use it again! The breakfast consisted of coffee, juice, milk, chocolate milk, donuts, sausage, eggs, cheese, and English muffins. Which made great breakfast sausage, egg, and cheese muffins with the English muffins. Thank ya, Village Inn! We appreciate your staff, your rooms, the cleanliness of the outside of the property and the view of the tress from our room on the back side.
